Thank you HarperCollins and Netgalley and sorry for the delay in reading and reviewing.
This was very creepy but an enjoyable read which kept me hooked.
It didn't completely bowl me over, and there were parts of the story where, to be honest, I was scared.
I guessed what was going on quite early in the book, but then doubted myself.
A good read

Fantastic book!! A mix of modern day murder, haunting folklore and twisted people. I love a book that gives me the creeps and fills my mind with a character - I'll be thinking about Stitch Face Sue for a LONG time! Highly recommend!

This was a creepy and enjoyable read and something about the story just kept me reading. It didn't completely wow me but there was parts of the story that actually had me scared. I did pretty much guess what was going on quite early on but was never sure.
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK and Jen Williams for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was an intense and cleverly plotted novel that kept me hooked from start to finish. The atmosphere the author create was unsettling and really made me believe in what was happening. The plot was fantastic but it was the characters that made this book the real success. Brilliant.

Spooky and the absolute autumnal book. It was everything I needed it to be and I couldn’t see where the story was going, which is great. I spend too much time guessing plot points in books so this was a breath of fresh air.

Chilling, creepy and dark. I absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down, every twist dragged me in more and more each time.

Hithechurch, a peaceful, out-of-the-way seaside town in Kent. When Charlie was young, she would visit with her family, making friends and playing down by the beach. Their favourite was telling scary stories; silly games of make-believe that would twist and weave old wife’s tales to scare each other. They would laugh and try to shake off the shiver than ran down their backs and made the hair on their necks stand on end.But what if it wasn’t all make-believe?
Years later Charlie returns to Hithechurch with her niece, researching a book on folklore. As she delves deeper into the history of the area, she finds something disturbing: a decades long history of women going missing. Could the stories be true?
Charlie is about to find out some games are deadlier than others.
What an epic slow burner with twist after twist… I could not put this down! Part mystery, part urban legend/ghost story this double time line story is filled with scares, tension, atmosphere and heart. I honestly don’t want to say too much and give anything away because the book was so fricking good that you should just let it speak for itself and go and read it… Now!

This might work for others. I found myself loosing interest in the plot and I didn't really care for the characters. I much rather prefer her fantasy books.

Delightfully creepy and spooky, Games for Dead Girls is a superb mystery folk horror crime story told across multiple timelines and I loved it.
Three timelines – present day Charlie and her niece Katie are off to a caravan park by the sea while Charlie researches a book she’s writing about the area. Then we see Charlie as a young girl in the eighties at the same caravan park, making friends as kids do, playing out all day. And the third timeline set decades earlier. It’s fun trying to figure out how these three stories interconnect and Williams takes her time delivering the story in chunks. Frustrating to jump to a new timeline just as it’s getting interesting, but you’re immediately drawn back to the now, or the then.
Great setting, superbly creepy creation of the character of Stitch-Faced Sue who haunts the dreams of the girls (and yours too as you’re reading!).
Enjoyed this one a lot. Recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is my first title by this author and will read more in the future.
I requested this book as i was drawn in by the cover and thought it looked interesting.
This book was full of twists and turns, it has multiple POV and short chapters, which i love!
Will recommend this to anyone looking for a thriller.
Thanks again for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
5/5 stars

There was just something about this damn story! I'II confess that I was hooked from the very beginning. As I read along, I kept finding inconsistencies.. loved that! Also, I discovered a bit of graffiti in a cave wall that said "Bango Skank wez here!" Great Easter egg and tribute to Stephen King! Bango shows up "graffiti wise" in many of his books! ( This story was pretty damned near perfect! Only the ending brought it down to 4 stars. It didn't suck, but it wasn't all that I hoped for! I'm not saying much about this book.
Read it!
Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins Uk for providing me with this ARC

A thrilling read by a new author for me. There was twists galore, and you kept on reading, just had to see how it all ends! The book has three consecutive timelines which made it a bit challenging, until you get use to it. Great read.

This is a book that I have been eagerly anticipating. I really enjoyed the author’s debut and this one certainly has lived up to my expectations. I have devoured this gem in one afternoon sitting.
Games for Dead Girls is interesting, intriguing and most definitely unique. I love how Williams has managed to pull me in and make me feel as though I have been watching the events play out ahead of me.
This book does move more slowly than I usually prefer. The author has included three different timelines which have given the full background story but have been a little slower than I had hoped.
I have loved the telling stories and scary folklore that goes with this one. It’s an element that has really kept me hooked. I have found myself wanting to delve deeper into this and the experiences around it. Pretty sure there’s a whole other book in this alone.
The characters have been well written and felt realistic. I haven’t felt particularly invested in anyone but enjoyed the journey with them.
Williams has written another good read which I absolutely recommend to lovers of the genre. This is a book for the TBR.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book which was equal parts thriller and horror. It wasn’t too gruesome but I found it very scary to think that it was happening in a quiet seaside town! It is definitely an edge of your seat page turner which I struggled to put down. Overall I would definitely recommend this book to thriller/horror fans. A high 4 stars from me.

Summoning spirits based on Urban Legends? That was EVEY teen when I was younger, so I was eager to read this one as I loved the premise! This book delves into darker undertones of abuse and what can go wrong when you play with things you don't quite understand. Flash forward and we uncover some grisly truths as we return to Hithechurch.
The first thing I need to point out is there is an interwoven timeline, we are split in three and at points each of them are pro-longed a little more that I had the patience for. The premise after all was one I was so excited for! I liked the characters and I liked the creation of Stitch Face and I enjoyed the story, but we spent a lot of time in the past.
The book was atmospheric and as I said, I was here for the concept - But I wanted more now and less of then, I'd have liked to have seen the past narrowed down to a smaller section and to learn more about the present and our main protagonist! I'd be interested to read more from Williams.

I read and enjoyed the author’s previous novel, Dog Rose Dirt, and I found the blurb for Games for Dead Girls intriguing: urban legends, missing girls, a small town full of dark secrets, I was sold. But then I started reading and I found myself disappointed. The story is told in three different timelines, but the pace is way too slow and I soon started to lose interest. By the time I reached the end of the story, I had lost patience with the different storylines, the characters, and the mystery. Overall, the premise is interesting and I enjoyed the creepy and dark atmosphere, I just wished for more action, excitement and suspense.

A mix of horror and thriller, a lot of potential and a blurb that sounded very exciting.
There's all the elements for a book that keeps you reading till late in the night with the all the lights on.
There's three POVs and different timeline and everything is quite interesting but you wonder when they will makes sense together as the plot seems to take ages for eveything.
I struggled till the different parts worked together and it was an exciting read.
There's some creepy moments, there's a sense of dread but I would have preferred a faster pace that kept my attention alive.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

☁️ THOUGHTS:
An author MC, spooky urban legends + dark secrets, paired with the atmospheric, small beach town setting, made for a creepy, gripping and intriguing thriller.
Three timelines switch between the 50s, 80s and ‘now’ and we are drip-fed red herrings and information from several unreliable narrators throughout the plot. This was most definitely a slow burn mystery, which I know a lot of people LOVE, but personally for me, i need a fast paced plot to keep my attention.
Having said that, I switched to the audio version about a third of the way in — I listen to audiobooks between 1.5-2x speed (this definitely depends on the narrator!) and this definitely upped my enjoyment and allowed me to connect with the claustrophobic cave setting and intriguing urban legends.
There were no MAJOR twists that took me by surprise, but overall I enjoyed how the multiple storylines weaved together and if you like an atmospheric, CHARACTER-DRIVEN mystery, you’d definitely like this! 🫶🏼

Creepy folklore, missing girls and a small town with dark secrets. What's not to love? Was interestingnread, I liked the 3 different timeliness, made it more enjoyable.

A super mysterious read that kept me intrigued throughout! I genuinely believed the niece was real then had to go back through looking for clues!
I found the cave network a tad confusing, especially the room where they were found but I loved this story and the twists!
