Four friends go on a hiking break in Norway and get more than they bargained for. This is a well written thriller with four characters, well fleshed out and with back stories that weave the whole thing together. I’ve never visited Norway and I felt that Lucy Clarke has really captured the environment. There’s a strong sense of dramatic landscapes, shadows and threats from the forest, the endless trails all appearing much the same.
It’s a twisty tale with plenty of surprises and an enjoyable read. Kept my at tent throughout.

Four old friends reunite for a hiking trip and secrets, suspense and danger surround them. An enjoyable popcorn thriller.

If you love a suspenseful plot full of twists and turns, this one is for you! I have never read a Lucy Clarke book that hasn't impressed me, and she just keeps getting better. I was gripped from the first page until the last, highly recommended.

I hadn’t realised that I had red one of the authors other books and loved the one. This one is great - well written and I loved the location descriptions as well as the story. I did read it super quick and will look up why else the author has written.

Four friends on a hiking holiday. One body on the cliffs below. Hidden shadows on the mountain trail.
All these join to form a good story - bouncing from one storyline to another.

Good premise that was a little different from the standard plot, that being said I did find not the best and k felt the ending was really rushed. It was fairly good read bud nothing spectacular.

Have been to Norway a few times but got to admit never hiking or walking up mountains but the fact this book was set in Norway was the initial draw
The descriptions of the Country and mountain (s) and the hike itself were amazing and gave you a feel for something you may never get to do,easier to describe something to a reader we all do and know but not so when its something we dont, anyway it worked and worked well and I could almost touch the clouds with them as they toiled
The story itself is tense in places and relaxing in others as you get to know the 4 friends and their relationships with each other and their good and not so good points and as the plot thickens so does the truth between them……
There are aspects that came as a great surprise as the book went forward and turned it into a part whodunit whilst keeping the drama and psychological elements ongoing
All told was an exciting read that ended with me feeling I had experienced the adventure and the hike with them

Thanks to Harper Collins, Lucy Clarke and NetGalley for the arc of The Hike.
I am a BIG fan of Lucy Clarke's books, having previously devoured The Castaways and One of the Girls so I was really excited to see what her latest release had in store.
It's fair to say she's done it again - a great group of characters, each with their own back story and challenges, head off on a hike in a mountain wilderness veiled in secrets.
Set through duel timescales, it soon becomes apparent that this hike isn't the exhilarating bonding experience the girls had hoped for, and watching the pieces all slot together kept me reading long into the night.
An atmospheric and truly absorbing thriller. Would recommend.

I was on the edge of my seat reading this novel! I love hiking and the mountains, but there is always that thought in the back of my head that things can go wrong
and in this book, they do!! Please read this!

I've always loved Lucy's books and this one was no exception.
The story begins with four friends, Liz, Helena, Maggie and Joni about to set off on a hike into the Norwegian mountains. All looking to escape their lives for different reasons. But a woman disappeared in these mountains before and the shadow of this, as well as other secrets between the friends, hangs over them as they set off....will they all make it back alive?
With realistic, believable characters and scenery so well described I could almost have been there, this was a beautifully written story. Each of the friends is so well rounded and the relationships between them instantly captured my interest.
The remote and wild Norwegian setting only added to the eerieness and tension throughout.
I felt extremely lucky to have received an ARC of this book and highly recommend it to all, not only as a brilliant thriller, but also a wonderfully written novel.
Thanks to author Lucy Clarke, publishers Harper Collins UK and Net Galley for this in exchange for my honest review.

Another fantastic read from Lucy Clarke. I love the location of this book - another place to visit following reading Lucy’s book!

Really good. Kind of a murder mystery but with the added thrill of another potential murder a possibility. You'll be trying to figure out whose good and whose not so good but it won't be easy. Lots of twists. Really enjoyed this. The writing is pacy and atmospheric and there's a few bombshell plots twists making it a really enjoyable read.

Four friends go on a short yearly trip to Norway to hike the mountains. I was disappointed with this book. The pace is slow, the four characters are quite annoying and childish. The plot is not well constructed and unrealistic, and the ending is rushed.

Mostly fast paced atmospheric read. The mountains were brilliantly descriptive encasing you in there hold. Interesting characters that fitted well together making this book a very enjoyable read. Pull up a sun lounger and read on. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

Four friends head off on their annual holiday with a difference - instead of the usual beach trip, their destination is Norway. Liz has opted to send them all on a gruelling 4 day hike, camping in the wild along the way. With personal problems aplenty, you already wonder if the group’s friendships will survive the holiday when the twists start raising their heads.
Really enjoyed this book, I loved the atmospheric descriptions of the Norwegian mountains and the friendships between the characters. I found the ending a bit disappointing, it was all a bit too neat and saccharine, but everything else was great.

This year its Liz's turn to choose where four friends are going for their annual holiday get-together and having recently discovered a passion for walking she decides they will too. Instead of sun soaked beaches and partying til dawn she's going to introduce them to hiking on a wild camping holiday in Norway..
Its clear from the outset that there isn't a lot of enthusiasm for Liz's idea but once a few misgivings had been cleared up and they'd got over the fact they'd need to use a trowel if they need the toilet, they set off with heavy hearts and even heavier backpacks.
I liked the dynamics within the group and found myself smiling more than once at the familiar repartee that comes so easy with people you've known a long time.
The scenery was amazing but the hiking proves more challenging than any of them expected. Heading further and further into the wilderness things start going wrong and it soon becomes clear that blisters and toilet trowels are the least of their problems.
This novel moved along at a good pace, the short chapters made it easy to read just one more and there were enough twists to hold my attention. It was a good, easy read and one to keep in mind if you're heading off on holiday soon, its ideal for a quiet afternoon by the pool.
My thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the advance copy for review purposes. I was under no obligation and all opinions expressed are my own.

I am a huge fan of Lucy Clarke, especially her earlier books. I was super excited to read this book. Initially, I was gripped by the story and couldn't put it down. However, it did lose me a bit halfway through. Of course the ending was brilliant. Therefore, I have mixed feelings about it. I do really love Lucy Clarke as an author and this storyline had great potential but I feel it just lacked a little something to keep me gripped in the middle. If you are a fan of Lucy Clarke, definitely give it a read though.
Thank you to Lucy Clarke and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The Norwegian mountains and fjords in summer are the backdrop for this mystery thriller. Liz, Helena and Maggie challenge themselves to climb a mountain, meeting an eclectic number of characters at the mountain lodge where they start their trek, including an unexpected old friend. Atmospherical and scenic, the story becomes more and more intense until it reaches an overwhelming climax.

Lucy Clarke has produced another fast paced read.
Believably written characters hiking in Norway.
You can certainly feel the danger as the story progress's.
Great twists and turns made me sit up late to find out the outcome.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my early copy.
5 stars from me.

In Norwegen.
