Using all sorts of familiar fairytale characters this was a super fun story to read with my little girl and she was very happy with the unicorns and fairies and magic.
Not only does it pack in some familiarity with the fairytale element but the three girls' friendships highlight their bond and working together / being a good friend. It also shows girls being the hero's and main characters being brave and couragous with all the appeal of what my little girl likes (the aforementioned Unicorns and Fairies)..
I am glad it is a series that we can take up and enjoy together

I received this book as an ARC for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Three girls wish, with varying degrees of urgency, for a change to their life. Luckily, it just so happens that their ballet teacher holds a secret – one that enables the three to try and become ninja-powered adventurers. That's only good, for a certain member of the royal household has just gone missing… This would be quite the standard girly adventure story, were it not for the three heroines being called Goldie, Snow and Red – can you guess who they are? I actually came to this looking to see a bit more in the way of twisting fairy stories, but this doesn't try and pretend any of the tales we know are wrong, or can be improved, it just dumps as many characters as it can from fairy on to these pages and runs with it. And that's not many – don't for one minute think this is a Fables-esque riff on known characters. Instead, however, it is a cussedly lively and animated quick read, full of drama and high-impact language, and very much pared back to the bone. The lack of descriptions and so on might annoy some, but this is really accessible and energetic stuff, and heralds what looks like a decent series.

Firstly, Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for a copy of this book to review!

I have read this story to my class at the end of the school day. We love it and are sad it has come to an end.

Red is looking for an adventure, when she finds a secret room at Madam Hart's Dance Academy Red cannot believe how lucky she is, especially when Madam Hart trains her and her friends to be Ninjas. Which is a good thing when the friends need to rescue Madam Hart and find the Prince. They meet lots of fairy tale characters along the way who help the friends with their adventure.

Will they be able to defeat Sir Scallion?

A fantastic tale of friendship, bravery and courage.

This story introduces us to a decidedly alternative version of the characters that we might otherwise be familiar with from classic fairy tales like Red Riding Hood.

The most boring place in the entire land of Waybeyond is Hobbleton, where Red is a young girl reluctantly attending ballet classes at Madame Hart's Dance Academy, with her friends Goldie and Snow. There is not one Unicorn, Fairy or Troll to be found in their neighbourhood, even though the nearby forest is said to be teeming with magical creatures.

Red longs to find out the truth for herself. So she is thrilled to discover a secret room full of weapons and training gear for heroes in a hidden room at the dance academy! To her delight, it turns out that Madam Hart is also willing to secretly train the three girls to become magical ninjas.

And their newly-learned skills are put to the test soon enough, when Madam Hart is framed for the kidnapping of Prince Inigo, after he mysteriously disappears from the Diamond Palace. In an attempt to find the Prince, the distraught queen imprisons Madam Hart in a tower on the advice of her wicked advisor, Sir Scallion, who has his own dastardly plans for the kingdom.

How can the trio of inexperienced girls take on the evil Sir Scallion, his army of rats and his ferocious dragon? Will they be able to rescue their mentor, Madam Hart? And where IS Prince Inigo?

This charming story will appeal to the age group it is written for, with its lively storytelling and whimsical characters - including a wolf pup and an enchanted toad - whilst effectively smashing a few outdated stereotypes in passing!
