I thoroughly enjoyed finding out how The Repair Shop developed and learning about each of the experts and their skills. It is full of super photographs from this wonderful television programme and the people that make it so enjoyable. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

As a new viewer and fan of the BBC’s The Repair Shop programme I was really pleased to be granted an advance copy of this book. It’s been an absorbing read learning about the experts’ backgrounds and how they came to be part of the programme. Many of the items featured in the book I have not seen on the programme, however for long-term fans of the show this will make a lot of the book redundant. Many have watched since the beginning, and so I imagine much of the content of this book would bring a strong sense of déjà vu. For someone who is new, like me, it may be an enjoyable book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Excellent book for people who maybe want to pick up a new hobby and do something with their hands, but don't know why. The book contains multiple stories of master craftsmen and their projects, so anyone considering picking up woodworking or bookbinding or cobbling will be able to get more information about their potential new pasttime before making the final choice.

If there is one thing I'd love to see added to the book, it would be a bunch of smaller projects for anyone who wants to actually try to do something rather than just read about it. Granted, some activities are better suited to it then others, but it would've been nice anyway.

A great addition to fans of the show!

I love the premise of the show taking well loved items and bringing back to life to be able to be loved once again and handed down to the next generation.

Have already got a copy for my mum which may of been reread before being handed over. Definately one to be read in book form rather the ebook.

If you are a fan of the repair shop then this book is for you. I felt like i was watching the show when reading through it and i enjoyed the stories on items in it even if it did make me cry like the tv show

I love The Repair Shop, everything about it amazes me. The warmth that oozes from it to people mending things that are broken or well worn, I am in awe of it all and wonder where in the world did they learn their craft. I also wonder if I have anything they’d like to repair with sentimental value and if I’d be brave enough to write in, but that’s another story entirely.

This book oozes the same care and attention and love that the tv show does. It has many stories of life inside the barn from the experts. You can learn more about their expertise and the items for repair. It’s a fascinating, insightful book for anyone who would like to know more about this special shed that has flung its wide open for you to enter through this book. It might even answer people’s burning questions as the experts have put together a Q&A section. The experts the book really focuses on is woodworker and furniture restorer Will Kirk, clock restorer Steve Fletcher, metalworker Dominic Chinea, silversmith Brenton West, leatherworker Suzie Fletcher, upholsterer Sonnaz Nooranvary, and seamstresses Julie Tatchell & Amanda Middleditch - aka The Teddy Bear Ladies. It is a book you can dip in and out of and easily keep going back to

It would make a delightful present for someone or a treat for yourself for anyone who is intrigued to know what life is like for the experts in the impressive Repair Shop barn.

If you know someone who enjoys the TV show of the same name, this would make a wonderful gift. It’s beautifully presented, very colourful and the content about the artists and their work is very enjoyable.

What a lovely book! It not only gives an insight into the backgrounds of the Repair Shop experts, but shows some of the items each person has repaired, along with the story behind them. As with the show, I found myself feeling quite emotional at times whilst reading this.

This would make a delightful gift for anyone who is a fan of the show, or who is interested in bringing treasured items back to life.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book.
Just like the programme this book is like a warm hug or cup of hot chocolate, it cocoons the reader in goodness.
Each expert has his own chapters where their background is explained but the love of the task is always evident. Items they remember with fondness are also featured.
A perfect book for a cold winter's day.

*****
A 100-page book about the iconic BBC Repair Shop series, introducing the repair crew and their background story plus describing some of their projects. A Christmas list topper!
Got digital copy, immediately opened it and started to read. Got transported back into the magical Repair Shop Barn, ignored all present demands on my time, read and looked and read, finished it, leaned back and sighed.
Basking in that warm fuzzy feeling and giving my threadbare teddybear a hug!

NB: p18 “Yet none of this phases Dom” - should read “fazes”
p30 “regular shoe tags” should read “tacks”
p47 repetition “the,the”
p47 “Afromosia” and “Afrormosia” are used, but should be consistent
