I had such a difficult time getting into "The Melodramatists" by Howard Nemerov. The book is very intelligently written and I am sure for the right reader, it will be a five star read but for me, it was just so-so.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Melodramatists
by Howard Nemerov
I am afraid this book was not meant for me.
Howard Nemerov (1920 – 1991) was an American novelist and poet, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1978. His novels are characterized by the use of self-deprecating wit and an ongoing sense of irony. While his books tended to satirize 20th Century American life, his poems often focussed on the beauty and innocence of nature.
It was very well written but just bored me to death.

I really couldn’t get into this one. It’s obviously intelligently and cleverly written, but it didn’t grab me at all. This was a DNF for me.
