Suzanne Wright is back with an amazing new series. This book adds such an interesting and fresh new look to her supernatural world where demons and fallen angels roam.
The protagonists, Cain and Wynter made the story great because of their individual personalities and chemistry with one another. Their story made this book unputdownable. I had to finish it in one sitting.
I wish I could read the second book in this series now. I cannot wait to read more books from Suzanne Wright.
I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

Another fantastic book by Suzanne Wright, such an interesting and unique story and a great start to this new series.
The main leads Wynter and Cain are great and they’re chemistry really comes across!
I cannot wait for the second book and will definitely be adding this book to my read again pile!

Wynter is casted out from her coven, one Aeon is going to erased her memory, and she’s going to be dropped outside the border, but not everything is like it seems. 6 months later, she’s travelling with another 4 cast outs to Devil’s Cradle (ruled by the seven Ancients), running from hunters sent by the Aeons that now want her back. In Devil’s Cradle, they make a life for themselves.
The story is nonstop, always something happening, or some secret being revealed. Lots of mystery, action, and questions. Fun, crazy characters. A world with lots of different paranormals.
The chemistry between Cain and Wynter is off the charts. Wynter is a great character. Cain is possessive and dark, and nuts. I can’t describe them in detail because there’s a lot to them, and still more to come in following books.
A lot of secrets yet to be revealed!
Details:
- OW drama with an ex that he hasn’t been with in 800 years or so. And this OW has been with his little brother after being with him. She’s an egomaniac and really petty. No OM drama.
- HFN. Cain and Wynter story is not over yet.
- “Cliffhanger”, mostly because there are a lot of things that we don’t get to know yet about Cain, Wynter, the Aeons, the Ancients, the deity,…

5 ‘Body and Soul’ Stars
Well, I’ll be DAMNED (pun intended)!!! I just knew it, this Devil’s Cradle series ROCKED. My. World!!! That’s right, my all time favourite PNR series Dark In You – the one where this spin off originates – has some serious competition. Consider my mind BLOWN!!!
Wynter’s background broke my heart, but her crew is making her heal as well as driving her insane, and I adored every single one of those crazies. When they decide too seek asylum in Devil’s Cradle, it’s like it was fated, because the Ancients are the perfect adversaries for the Aeons, given their millennia’s old history.
I’ll not spoil anything, but as soon as Wynter comes to Devil’s Cradle to seek refuge, and none other than Cain himself greets her, she more than caught his eye, it’s like she’s HIS from the get go, that’s how insane their chemistry and attraction was. Adding to that that Cain is as OTT Alpha as my beloved Knox, she didn’t stand a chance, not that she wanted, lol, because he was the OBSESSED with Wynter…
Their relationship fast tracked, but understandably so, these are INTENSE beings, from the get go, after all, but I loved their 'no BS' attitude in all things, these are my kind of people.
And talking about people, ALL the side characters are so intriguing and nuts - specially her quirky and bad@ss crew - but also Cain's crew, the other Ancients, that I can't wait for find more out about them. There was never one dull moment on the book, I tell you, I DEVOURED it in one sitting. Yep, from the first page I was hooked, enraptured, and like Cain, OBSESSED!
Cain and Wynter are a match made in heaven - or should I say hell, lol? - I was addicted from the very first meeting, and want to know it all, not only are they evenly matched power wise, but their chemistry was crackling in every moment they were near each other, it was a palpable thing, therefore it was no surprise that their steamy times are some of the sexy and hottest I've had the pleasure of reading.
Wicked in Me had it all: sexy romance, hilarious ROFL moments, mind grabbing banter, and some brilliant action and suspense scenes, it really gave us everything, and still Ms. Wright left me begging for more!
Gahhh, how am I supposed to live, and satisfy my romance lover heart until their next book comes out?! NEED... IT...

If I could give Wicked in me a million stars, I would. The level of 🌶️🌶️🌶️SPICE🌶️🌶️ in this book is so high I was practically panting. I am an avid fan of Suzanne Wright's and I think she outdid herself on this one.
The chemistry between Wynter and Cain is off the charts and their stories and mysteries are so intriguing. I also LOVE the Bloodrose coven. They're so cooky and weird that their antics kept me laughing throughout the book.
Now, unlike most of Suzanne's books, there are still LOTS of questions remaining unanswered at the end of the book. I'm not a super big fan of this but I knew what I was getting into before starting the book.
I def recommend you jump into this book and the rest of Suzanne's catalog. ❤️❤️

This new series by Suzanne Wright has a very interesting premise. It is set in a world where ancient beings (you may know them from the Bible) rule 2 different cities/areas/developments. The lead character Wynter is banished from one and takes up refuge in the other. On her journey to her new destination she picks up a ragtag bunch of witches and forms her own coven, while killing all the bounty hunters who have been sent after her. Once at their new refuge, Wynter and her crew/coven set up a business and go about leading their lives. But, so many factions just want to kill Wynter.
Again, interesting storyline. The character development of Wynter and her crew is awesome. They have become a family and protect and play with each other. They are fun. I am pretty much a 5 star reader for Suzanne Wright, this book I would truly give 3.5. Why?
The character development between the lead characters Wynter and Cain is almost nonexistent. Something that Ms. Wright is so strong at, is so missing for me here. Other than to have sex and talk about sex they have no personal relationship. They basically have booty calls. The dynamic between the 2 of them is just not there. I had to read this twice because I could not figure out what was so off for me in this book. There is no trust, no friendship, no cute things between 2 people. There is just sex. Now if what you want is good erotic sex, yes, it is here, but: I really would have liked them to have had a relationship.

New series from Suzanne Wright. Although a spin off from another series of sorts, this felt like different writing from Suzanne but in a very good way that captured my attention.
Writing biblical characters can be precarious but Suzanne has written them so well, made them intriguing, interesting and putting a different spin on them. Cain the main maple character was very alpha and dominant, probably one of the most dominant written by Suzanne. Wynter was badass, fearless and strong, really enjoyed her character arc.
Wynter’s “coven” were an interesting bunch and I’m looking forward to delving into their character and history as well as the rest of the Ancients. The usual bitchy ex is present and although didn’t cause too much upset so far I feel she has more inner bitch to release.
The book does not finish but is more of a continuing story, for although it ended happily, there are more questions to be answered, more conversations to be had and more action, the story certainly is not finished. It is not a cliffhanger though so that makes waiting for book 2 bearable.
Looking forward to the next book and exploring this world and delving deeper into the other characters.

Thanks @littlebrownbookgroup_uk for sending me an eARC of The Wicked in Me by Suzanne Wright, out 12th January. 📖
The Wicked in Me is a paranormal romance full of magic, action, heat, mystery, murderous characters, and chaos. There was a lot I really enjoyed but there was also something that made me uncomfortable (I’ll explain further down).
FMC Wynter is a badass witch with mysterious powers who is now on the run after her former coven tried to kill her. I enjoyed her POV and the vengeful side of her personality. The mystery surrounding her powers started getting a little frustrating but by the end of this book we know everything Wynter knows about herself.
We also get the perspective of Ancient MMC Cain. I was disappointed that the power of the Ancients stayed a mystery. We’ve only had hints about their true nature by the end.
Side characters: four magical criminals who have now declared Wynter as their coven leader. These side characters choose chaos and violence at every turn. Their squabbles and antics added a much-needed lightness and sense of humour!
I love a spicy book but think a couple of these scenes could have been cut as some didn’t move the relationship forward and felt repetitive.
What made me uncomfortable: A magical barrier was put on an area of Wynter’s body so only Cain could touch it. This was done without her knowledge. The FMC was ok with it once she found out but she still didn’t have all of the facts. I think the reasoning for Cain’s actions was problematic: ‘the monster inside needs me to do it so I can control myself’. It felt like we were supposed to applaud his ‘restraint’ when if he’d actually shown restraint he wouldn’t have done anything at all or he would have asked first.
I enjoyed the found family vibes, battles, mystery, and Wynter the FMC. Sadly the barrier situation stuck with me in a negative way. I’ve enjoyed other books from this author so might still try the next in this series.

Holy batman Suzanne has done it again! This is book one in her new Cradle series, and what a beginning already. I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy before Christmas, and I have been book hungover for weeks.
I fell in love with Wynter and Cain, and struggled not to skip ahead to see if any answers would be forthcoming. In true Wright style, we are on the edge of our seats throughout the book. What is Wynter? What is Cain? How does this connect them? Is there going to be a reveal? Will secrets be exposed or kept hidden? The endless questions drove me mad, but for the life of me I couldn't put my Kindle down. I needed to know more and finished this sinfully delicious read in just over a day. I tried to hold off and drag it out but I swear I just couldn't. I love that Suzanne dives straight in from the first page, because it lures you in so fast you cannot help but become invested.
Wynter is the kind of heroine I admire. Sarcastic, witty and takes no shit. Her endless resilience, strength and capacity to still care for others was a beautiful thing. She has not had it easy since she was a child, but she took her second chance at life by the balls and tried so hard to be a strong witch, to show she wasn't broken and was worthy to be a part of the coven. She refuses to let her trauma define and control her. But there really are just some assholes in life who will do anything to squish out your light, and Wynter's' coven is one twisted egotistical bunch of bitches. Despite the covens efforts Wynter survives all odds and with her hilarious but slightly scary group of misfits she makes her way to the Devils Cradle. I think that is my most favourite thing about Wynter, she is a survivor through and through, refusing to be or become a victim. It makes her so much more deadly than those seeking to destroy her could ever imagine. I absolutely adored her group of misfits, and I was caught more times than I can count smiling or flat out laughing while I was reading. The humour factor is as ever strong where Suzanne is concerned. I loved the dynamics of the group, how they looked out for one another and protected Wynter's secret. I would love to know more about them and see if they get their own books.
He wanted her fucking addicted to him. To this. Wanted her to need him like she'd never needed anyone else. Wanted her to come back to him again and again, unable to help herself.
Oh Cain...where do I even begin? If you're familiar with Suzanne's work, you know her heroes are all alpha male possessive hotness. They see it, they like it, they take it and they keep it. Cains attraction to Wynter is chemically explosive from their first meeting, and after millennia of feeling like everything is empty, Wynter is a much welcome enigma shaking shit up and awakening both Cain and his inner beast. Cain has secrets but wants to own Wynter, but Wynter has her own secrets and there is a reason she sought sanctuary at the Devils Cradle. The back and forth is seductively riveting, and despite Wynter's best efforts to hold Cain at bay, eventually all that primal sexual chemistry explodes and they collide. Holy hell do they collide. Cain is not used to being ensnared and possessive and Wynter is not used to letting someone truly see her. Both carry secrets they need to keep hidden, but the more time they spend together the more not only are those secrets bursting to come out but enemies are coming at them from all angles to destroy them and those they love.
As we delve deeper into Cain and his group, we get a genuinely brilliant depiction of another side to the story of Cain and Abel. I was as invested in the notions Suzanne presents, as I was with the characters. I truly admire an author who can create a world and a narrative that could be somewhat plausible, despite being completely fictional. A contradiction I know, but if you are familiar with her work you will understand the style Suzanne creates is so uniquely her own and incorporates enough reality to make you think. The notion of Cain and Abel existing today and how they slot into the supernatural world and our world was quite thought provoking for me. There was much left unanswered, things still kept hidden and I am impatiently waiting for the next book.
Release is only a short few days away, and I cannot wait for you to all get your hands on Cain and Wynter's story. Get comfy, keep hydrated and sit by the window to cool down. Happy reading minions!
"I don't know what it is about you...but I want to mark you the fuck up. Your skin. Your pussy. Your very soul."

Brilliant start to a new series!!! I love the 'coven' and i especially love Hattie. Though i now find myself craving a snickers sandwich 🤣🤣 love Cain and Wynter, can't wait for the next installment

I was a little hesitant to start this book as, to be honest, I was worried about being disappointed. I have read all the author’s previous series many times and wasn’t sure how this could possibly be as good, especially since it seems to be more of a fantasy theme, as what she’s written before. Turns out it’s every bit as good, just different. There are all the familiar elements such as quirky secondary characters, explosive chemistry and plenty of plot twists, but what stood out to me what the originality of the plot. I read a lot in this genre but have never come across a story like this. The world building is simply outstanding and really draws you in. I loved Wynter’s character and the secrets that are gradually revealed. Cain is a wonderfully complex character that I can’t wait to get to know more as the series progresses. Wynter’s crew are hilarious and their antics help to balance some of the darker themes in the book. All in all, this is a new favourite series for me and I have already preordered the Audible version of this book to savour!

I was blessed to get an ARC of this book.
First of all I finished this book in one sitting like I couldn’t put it down it was so intriguing.
I liked how different this book seemed compared to other Suzanne Wrights series though I will say some of the characters has a similar element to her characters in The Olympus Pride and the Dark In You series.
The chemistry between Cain and Wynter was there but I wish we got to see more of a slow burn. I feel like they got together a bit quickly for too ppl with trust issues and commitment fears. But I still liked it because that process developed nicely and made sense.
I love the world building. It’s amazing the different creative ideas that Suzanne Wright comes up with. She’ll forever be one of my favorite authors.
I recommend this book to everyone who’s into supernatural/paranormal romance though I would recommend reading her other series first. Not to say you need it to understand this book. I just think it ties nicely together if you do.

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to the fantasy and mythology genre, but, I am widening my perspectives and so far loving it. The author has done this brilliantly. The story is beautifully written, the characters come alive on the page, the settings pop and all characters have believable voices.
The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.
This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Suzanne wright could never disappoint me. And the fact that her books keep getting better and better is so surreal . I absolutely loved it. Everything about this book was phenomenal from pacing, word building, action, drama and to the main characters. Overall it’s a full 5 stars read for me

The Wicked in Me (The Devil’s Cradle #1)
Author: Suzanne Wright
Publisher: Piatkus
Release date: 12th Jan 2023
The book – a new series starter from bestseller Wright – is a dark romance/urban fantasy featuring the Aeons (self-proclaimed god’s) and the Ancients (the immortals who fled the Aeons) and set up their own domain with underground city.
Wynter is a witch who carries darkness in her, the novel starting with her coven leader telling her she will be evicted and have her memories removed.
The only one of her original coven who seems to care is Rafe; friend, mentor, surrogate-uncle and fight trainer. But even he can’t stop Wagner, a nasty piece of work, from dragging her away.
Six months later, she has adopted a crew who insist on calling her their Priestess, and the ‘Bloodrose Coven’ are seeking refuge with the Ancients.
To give you a hint about these immortals, they include Ishtar, Azazel, Seth, and his older brother Cain.
Yes, that Cain.
And wowzer, as the Ancient on duty when they arrive, Cain’s attraction to Wynter is instant and blazing hot.
As for her, oh yes, she’s attracted to him too.
From here, we have lots of secrets, intrigue, blistering sexy times, fighting and banter.
The Cain/Wynter Dynamic is up there with Scarlett St. Clair’s Adrian/Isolde ‘ship. Or Hades/Persephone.
Cain’s garden is atmospheric, just like him, and as the couple start to actually... Er... Couple ... it sizzles.
The euphoric and weightless feeling Wynter experiences with Cain reads rather like sub space and Wright describes it well.
As for Wynter’s crew – coven – they are up there with Guardians of the Galaxy or The Suicide Squad for dysfunctional families, though they are not related.
Xavier lies more than a politician, though he does it for fun. The teasing he endures from Lycan Elias, discombobulates him and is hilarious to read. There’s also enough kink elements and hot sexual encounters in the book to satisfy Hattie herself.
Speaking of Hattie – she looks like a sweet little old lady but has an erotica fiction addiction and asks questions that would make an escort blush. Anabel experiments on her own witch potions and has an alter ego that likes blood – a lot, whilst Delilah deals with karma and some of the results are hilarious and oftentimes justified.
Especially the ‘boob’ scene.
This manic group of misfits add such an element of fun to the novel, yet when it comes to taking care of each other, they are brutally loyal.
We have a satisfactory conclusion by the end, with secrets revealed, violent battles fought, enemies defeated and a great hook to lead into the second book.
If this is like her other works, we’ll get to know lots more about her crew and the other Ancients as the series progresses.
And with luck, it will include seeing Xavier whipped into shape by a sexy Lycan * sorry, not sorry *
Absolutely brilliant.

This is a dark paranormal romance which won't be to everyone tastes. Thankfully, it is mine!
Wynter has been exiled from her coven and has managed to pick up a rag-tag gang of witches and mages as she she makes her way to Devil's cradle, a town for those who seek safety under the protection of the Ancients. She immediately gains the interest of head Ancient, Cain and the two embark on an affair. Both have dark secrets to hide and Wynter has angered Cain's rival's, the Aeon's who are prepared to go to war to get Wynter back.
There was so much to like about this book. The MC is dark and interesting, as is Cain and there are plenty of twists and turns during this book. Although this is a romance, it felt more like the main characters were acting on lust, however, I think that's part of how their story is going to play out across the series. There's enough back story and plot to keep the reader entertained and hooked and the worldbuilding is intriguing and inventive.
My absolute favourite part of the book was the side characters who made up Wynter's coven. A bunch of magical witches and mages who are on the run from bounty hunters, each one endearing but incredibly twisted and dark. Their interactions throughout the book were quite funny and I really want to carry on reading this series. This book a massive must read for anyone who loves dark paranormal romance novels.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc in return for an honest review.

Many thanks to Little, Brown Books and Suzanne Wright for the advanced copy of The Wicked In Me via NetGalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review. Quick note: I don’t recap plots in my reviews, as it’s easy enough to read the book’s synopsis and blurbs, I purely focus on my feelings & opinions of how the books makes me feel.
Nice and dark! This book has a great plotline, something different and unique with deeply imaginative storytelling. I never add spoilers to my reviews, so all I will say is that I loved the addition of the extra passengers. It’s a really unique concept and leaves you wanting to know so much more. How? Why? What?
The book is also VERY steamy and should definitely be put in the adult section. The sex scenes are generally well written and flow well. There are violent and coercive elements to the sexual content, rather than this being a romance. However, it stops well short of being erotica and I’d class it as Steamy Fantasy.
My only gripe is the lack of consent during the sexual encounters. It is very possible to have a dominant scene, with a character taking control of another, and still have the controlled party give consent. And for this to even be written in a sexy way – it’s been done. This may seem terribly woke, but it’s 2023 and we’re all moving on and the amount of people who’ve had sexual encounters where they DIDN’T consent is distressingly high. For those people, it’s uncomfortable reading a scene where there’s blatantly no consent and it’ll put them off an author for life, and even an entire genre. Or even reading.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading the next book in the series. I want to know more about these…passengers…as well!

The Wicked In Me
by Suzanne Wright
Pub Date 12 Jan 2023
Publisher:Little, Brown Book Group UK, Piatkus
Genre: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Wynter, I liked her character. Hattie was a hoot, not a feeling that I expected. Cain, well, all I can think about is the Marc of Cain and the implications for those who've travelled with Wynter. Xavier is a cheeky one, but it makes me laugh.
Pacing I enjoyed the pacing of this story as it flowed well. It has a bit of spicy in it
Witch Wynter Dellavale has been banished from her Coven due to her magic, and now she's trying to find solace with the other who has been exiled. I enjoyed this read. It was a fun read, and I enjoyed the characters within this book. The Aeon banished her, and their lands are now disappearing. They think Wynter is responsible for the Demise of their land. Authority is coming back from the dead once winter has died again. There is so much to this bit. There are interlinked battles which show progress throughout the book. Epic battle scenes to make your toes curl.

I'm not really sure what audience this book is striving for but I'm certain I that I don't sit in this demographic. Given the nature of the content right from the first chapter, I would expect the writing style to be a little more mature, however this is very much written as a 1st person mid YA. With that in mind I'm not sure this estimated reading style is entirely appropriate for the topics and TWs covered. I had to DNF this I'm afraid.

I am a huge fan of Susanne Wright's works so The Wicked In Me was one of my most anticipated books! The plot was fabulous and really stood out from other books of the genre. This book started off really strong and I was extremely intrigued about Wynter and her past. Unfortunately though, her character began to grate on me since she was presented as overly cocky and could do no wrong. Hopefully her character will develop more in the sequel because in this book she was a classic example of a Mary Sue.
The romance in this book unfortunately didn't really work for me. It was an instalove, which is a trope that can be good but in this instance it didn't quite work. Wynter and Cain had little to no chemistry and their relationship was limited to lust, which resulted in none of the cute couple scenes that you would expect from a romance heavy book.
The humour was rather cringey, immature, which usually wouldn't bother me too much but unfortunately it took up multiple pages and did nothing to contribute to the overall plot. It made the book feel like a very rough first draft.
Overall, despite the abovementioned flaws, The Wicked In Me is an entertaining and enjoyable book. I'm sad that I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped but I will definitely give the sequel a chance.
