I beg the authors to stop saying the thing in *insert character name* I mean that's just lazy writing. I dunno just name it somehow, look it would be so much better just to say power, pull whatever, but just not THING. yeah it'll probably be explained what that is but calling it a thing is giving me an ick.
Yeah so I finished the book and omg let me tell you even though I hate insta love I loved this book. I mean considering the circumstances I don't see how else the romance plot could be written. The plot development was great, it wasn't dense. And the writing was just so smooth, it made a great read.
I loved her coven, how different each member is but they would stick together no matter what. It was great to read a BAMF MFC. And another personal favourite was the dual POV, ma'am well done.
I have received the earc of this book from netgalley and I'm leaving the review voluntarily

I read this book twice. The first time, inebriated, and for some reason forgot that it wasn't a stand-alone HEA. Read a 'palette cleansing' book, and then read this again.
I loved it! Wynter is a badass and I want to be her when I grow up. I loved how the coven/crew broke up the intense storyline with humor and their deliberate misunderstanding of morals. Cain, oh boy, what can I say about Cain besides, yummy. He is hawt and dominating with just the right amount of sweet, which is to say, barely any sweet at all, just how I like 'em.
I had never seen 'custom' used in the way it was. The first read through I struggled with it, but the second read I figured it was a British thing. Or maybe I just live under a rock. A couple of grammar errors. Nothing extreme enough that they took me out of the story, but a few.
Overall, I cannot wait for the next book, I'm already counting the days, and this one hasn't been released yet. Woe is me. :)

This book was so good! I am a huge fan of Suzanne Wright, and this book did not disappoint. Wynter was an amazing character. Her level of self awareness is something everyone should hope for. She is strong, brave, fierce, and protective. Cain on the other hand is a total enigma. He is confident, controlling ( not in a over the top way) and driven. I love that even though they are instantly attracted to each other and their chemistry is crazy they don’t fall in to love immediately. Actually by the end of the book neither has realize the depth of their feelings yet. As if the main characters aren’t a good enough reason to read this book the side characters definitely are. This is the biggest group of crazy individuals I have ever ready. And that is saying something. Each character is so different but go together so well. I just can’t wait for the next book. Please hurry.

Dark in you, Phoenix pack, Mercury pack, Olympus pride are some of my favorite series so I was definitely gonna check out this new Suzanne Wright series and I did. Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
After reading the Book summary, I was hooked and the book didn't disappoint. Its an interesting new world and I like it :) I loved the secondary characters as much as I loved the main characters Cain and Wynter. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

New series, a new world. After being alive so long, Cain is ready to rest. He is tired of waiting to get revenge on the Aeon who imprisoned him and the other ancients. Wynter is not someone Cain saw coming and he is drawn to her. Both of them are keeping secrets and there are things Wynter doesn't know even about herself.
Intriguing new series. I can’t wait until the next book!

Many Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing the digital review copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Suzanne Wright is a master of paranormal romance, and while this would probably count more towards a fantasy romance, it's non the less a great read and quite spicy too. Winter is smart, sexy, and savage, she is underestimated constantly, except by her perfectly weird group of misfits (not a coven) are her found family, which she picked up during her excel. They are hilarious, I loved the dynamic between them all, and I couldn’t wait to see what shenanigans they got up to next. I also really enjoyed the mystery of the Aeons, which I’m hoping that Suzanne will develop further in the series.

For people who know me, they know that the Dark in You series is one of my favourites and I can't stop telling people to start it. I'm also Suzanne Wright's biggest fan, so I need to read everything she publishes, and every single time SHE. DOES. NOT. DISAPPOINT!
This new series has everything that one might want. A badass heroine? Check. A troubled and dark hero? Check. Although more than a hero, I'd call him a villain. Out of this world chemistry? check. A ragtag band of loony beings? Check. Seriously, what more do you want?
Wynter gets banished from her witch coven because the other witches don't like her magic. Once booted out though, they and the beings they respond to try to drag her back because their land is now dying and only she can help. Too bad Wynter doesn't want to do anything with them. If you feel pity, don't. They deserved it. And if you wonder why, read the book. Well, getting back into the story, the only place where she can be somewhere safe is under the protection of other beings considered 'bad gods'. But one of them, Cain, can't stop obsessing over Wynter from the first moment he laid his eyes on her. Wynter and her group of friends have finally found a home for the moment, but they know that good things won't last. Her ex coven will try to take her back or kill her, but if Cain and his peers actually find out about Wynter's secret magic, there is no tell of what they'll do. Did I also mentioned the chemistry between Cain and Wynter? It's so hot, and I had to fan myself multiple times. And that cold showers. That too.
To tell you that I was glued to this book from page one until the end was an understatement. I wasn't glued. I was completely and fully stuck into the story. Even wanting, I couldn't get out of it. And I didn't want to. This book is almost reaching the same level as the Dark in You series, but if book 2 is anything like book 1, the Dark in You series will have to share first place for my love.

”But then, people tended to equate beauty with goodness when, in truth, the two didn’t always go together.”
This is the first book by Suzanne Wright I have read, she seems to be a popular author in the spicy romantasy world and after reading The Wicked In Me, I can see why. After finishing book one of her new Devil Cradle’s series let me tell you that this series is going to be GOOD. thankfully all her books in this series will be out sometime next year.
There were lots I enjoyed. I liked the emotional intelligence of the main character, Wynter. She was rational, and super self aware for someone who died when she was ten. The dynamics between her and her coven are hilariously sublime. Each character in their coven was their own person, with their own set of skills, and their own vengeful, murderous tendencies.
I do wish that the romance burned a bit more slowly. It really was all business with Wynter and Cain and I wish there was more of a build up. Perhaps that way I wouldn’t be rushing my way through the steamy scenes towards the end of the book, tiring of them since they started soon after their meeting and were… frequent 😂.
But, if my only gripe is that there’s too much steam, then is that even really a gripe at all?

Omdz!!! She's only gone and done it again! Cain can rival Knox for the possessive crown. I loved the secondary characters as much as I loved Cain and Wynter, and hope they each get their own stories too. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I will say that there were a few editing issues with spellings and incorrect tenses which I hope get fixed before the official release. Arc kindly provided by NetGalley

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
The synopsis of this book had me hooked and I couldn't wait to read it but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed.
I really enjoyed the found family trope, the pacing itself was ok and it was consistent throughout.
The world building was interesting, especially the Ancients and the Aeons and their involvement.
Some of the characters felt a little flat to me and some also felt like they were thrown in just for the sake of being quirky. I didn't really like the romance aspect either. I do prefer slow burns but it felt like there wasn't any buildup at all to the romance/sex scenes. I didn't feel like there was that tension, instead the spice seemed repetitive.
Overall this book definitely has potential but in places the plot and direction was forgotten to make way for the insta lust.
*Thank you to @netgalley and the publishers for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review*

I have loved previous books by this author, werewolves, vampires and demons so for her to turn her talent to the story of witches had me really excited and i wasn’t disappointed.
Wynter is a young witch who is cast out of her coven even though she is very powerful. When she realises that she has been lied to all her life she escapes and meets a group of eccentric witches who band together to seek refuge with other supernatural beings. But Wynter isn’t all that she seems and she soon has the attention of one of the gods she has pledged to. Cain is in a dark place but the little witch is a good distraction and the more he learns about her the more apparent it becomes how she could be the key to ending an age old battle. Wynter is a great heroine, she a reluctant leader for her little group but is caring and a bit bada$$. One thing about Suzanne Wright is that she writes such great supporting characters and that is no exception, the banter between Wynters coven will have you laughing out loud and loving the way they all support each other. Cain is broody and slightly jaded by his age. There is something more to Cain that isn’t explained too much in this book but I’m definitely looking forward to finding out more in book two.

The Wicked In Me.
Dark magic. Hidden secrets. Morally grey characters. This was a ride! The Wicked In Me is a paranormal dark romance fantasy with spice.
Banished witch Wynter has her secrets, things that are better kept hidden away. Cain, an Ancient exiled, has his own secrets too. When she arrives in his domain, they are inexplicably drawn to one another, and as lust develops into some more, those secrets can't stay hidden much longer.
This was a darker romance than I usually read, but I was intrigued by the idea of Wynter's story, and I'm glad I gave this a go. I loved Wynter's 'coven', a found-family, each one with their own eccentricities and powers. The world-building was interesting and fun, especially the idea of all different types of preternatural beings co-existing alongside each other and how that would look. I also enjoyed Cain's development emotionally towards Wynter. It's definitely not a slow burn in terms of spice, but is in terms of emotional attachment. I became invested in the characters - there had better be more books!
In short, it was fun, full of sass and spicy.
Some scenes were graphic, so look up trigger warnings if you are so inclined.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wow . So intriguing. A well written and different slant on the story of Adam and Eve and their offspring's..
Suzanne should be congratulated on the way she has managed to wave such a strong and believable novel.. Loved the way that the bible stories are acknowledged and used to move the drama along.
Wynter and her love interest Cain are the main couples, but there are many others that hopefully will either get their own book or at least show in the next story.
Wynter Dellavale was part of a coven that decided she was holding them back and was banished. Cain is one of the Ancients who live in the Devils Cradle, for protection they have to willingly give something in return.
Wynters arrival has given Caine the weapon he and the others need to escape their prison.

For full transparency, this is not usually the type of book I read. I requested this on the basis of the beautiful cover and the description featuring witches and other fantastical elements I enjoy. I know that dark romance is a very popular subgenre within fantasy fiction, and can totally see other readers loving this, but it was not for me.
My main issue with it is that every single element felt flat and did not live up to its potential. The actual plot between Wynter, the Aeons, and the Ancients was fascinating and something I was really looking forward to being explored further, but it was constantly put on the back burner for other storylines that went nowhere and added nothing to the overall narrative. The characters were incredibly one-dimensional and we found out hardly anything about any of them despite there being nearly 400 pages. All of the ensemble characters were just there to be wacky and quirky and it just came across as cringe-worthy. I started off the book enjoying their group scenes the best, but by the end I was rolling my eyes at the same rehashed jokes.
The romance was one of the worst cases of Insta-Love I’ve ever read. There was zero build-up, tension, or intimacy created between Wynter and Cain. They just instantly got to having sex with each other and these scenes were so repetitive and formulaic once you’ve read the first one you needn’t bother with the rest.
The writing also came across as very juvenile. We were told about these incredibly powerful fantastical beings that were constantly referred to as ‘dudes.’ Like I said before, I thought the book had fantastic potential, but ultimately the execution was unsophisticated.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.

The premise of this book really intrigued me - a witch called Wynter is banished from her coven and seeks refuge at Devil’s Cradle, a place for monsters. There, her and her “crew” are overseen by seven immortal beings, one being the infamous Cain, who wants Wynter in his bed. But, he doesn’t know what lives inside Wynter.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with this book.
Firstly, the characters. They are all one dimensional and the author seems to rely on them being “quirky” rather than offering any kind of development for them. I can’t say I liked any of them or cared what happened to them throughout the story.
I prefer a slow burn romance, but the romance in this book went from 0 to 100 really quickly, and again, didn’t have much development. The sex scenes got repetitive and boring fast, and the characters didn’t really spend much time together apart from when they were in bed. I would have liked to have seen more of an emotional connection between them, which would have made their romance more believable.
The plot didn’t excite me at all. I found parts of it quite repetitive and I was waiting for a twist that just never happened. I was turning the pages purely just to finish the book, and if it hadn’t of been an ARC that I needed to review, I would have DNF’d it very early on.
The main thing I disliked about this book was the dialogue. At points it made me physically cringe. Again, there’s so much repetition with phrases, innuendos and jokes. There was far too much “dude” for my liking and there were pages and pages of random, pointless dialogue which could have instead been used to develop the characters, plot or romance.
Overall, this book just wasn’t for me.
Thankyou to NetGalley, Little Brown Book Group UK and Suzanne Wright for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I met Suzanne Wright at an author event in Edinburgh earlier in the year and the line to speak with her was huge the whole weekend. Being honest I had never heard of her books, but I engaged some courage and waited to chat with her. She is one of the friendliest and hilarious authors I’ve ever met and made me feel totally welcome. She actually got in trouble for taking so long with each person because she was genuinely interested.
So anyway what’s that got to do with this review. The minute I saw her book on netgalley I immediately wanted it because of how she made me feel that day.
It follows Wynter who has been banished from her coven because they believe her to have dark magic. What the coven doesn’t realise is that when someone is banished they are murdered and they also don’t know what Wynter’s ‘dark magic’ can really do.
There’s not much else to say without giving it all away .. but there is a brilliant found family who have really entertaining dialogue but are also pretty mental. It’s also quite dark/gruesome so I’d check trigger warnings. Now this is not a slow burn fantasy romance, I’m pretty certain by 25% things were hot! Like very hot and my new favourite word is soulgasm!
It ends with a lot of revelations but also with a lot of things unanswered.
Really enjoyed my first Suzanne Wright book and off to read some more. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read in advance. I will post closer to publish date.

OK - so there's this civilisation, the Aeons. They are ancient, powerful, immortal and have a complete distain for everyone else. Wynter Dellavale is a mortal (kind of!) and a witch. A new coven is to be selected by the Aeons and the one Wynter's is in is in the running. However the Priestess of the coven feels Wynter is the weak link to them being selected as her magic is "dark". It is decided that she should be exiled. The snag is that if you are exiled you lose everything including your powers and your memory. That idea does not appeal to Wynter and it's is just possible she holds some secrets that might help her and "inconvenience" the Aeons.
She ends up with a bunch of very interesting people seeking sanctuary with the Ancients at their home, the Devil's Cradle…
I was telling a friend very enthusiastically about this book along these lines. It's pacey and has a decent story line. The fantasy/magic is good as is world building. I really love Wynter's "crew" as she prefers to describe them rather than their view that they are a coven. It was - for me - laugh out loud funny at times (if somewhat impolite!). It's playful, modern in feel and Wynter is a great and very sassy character (and she's not the only one).
And then I said to the aforementioned friend "I feel I should point out to you that parts of it I found pretty erotic…" :). As I understand it people out there might take offence at the fairly graphic sexual activity here ;). The sex, which was interesting, was quite highly charged. However it felt completely appropriate to the story for me. I guess you have to read it to see what I mean and views may differ.
This may not be a great literary milestone book but I found it a highly entertaining read where the storylines develop well over time. Some of the characters are not particularly deep but the main ones again develop over the course of the book. Overall I really liked this fantasy tale - I have one really big complaint though - I want to read the next book NOW (please).

Wynter Dellavale is banished from her coven and runs for her life, eventually finding safe haven with the Ancients, in their sanctuary for various species on the run.
This is the first time I have read a Suzanne Wright book and I have to say I am impressed with the worlds she has created and the depth of the story that this book begins, I am assuming it will be a trilogy at least, such is the number and spectrum of characters that could be included.
The protagonist is a tough young lady, she can take care of herself and fight her way through the world, a lifetime of trauma has made her someone who is self sufficient and takes no prisoners. Her Coven seem like an interesting group, however I felt that I knew very little about them as individuals and would like to see their stories expanded in further sequels.
The same can be said for Cain, while he features heavily in the story, I couldn’t picture him in my head while reading, he felt very one dimensional at times.
I’ll admit I outwardly cringed at some dialogue and some of the sex became boring and repetitive.
What I did enjoy was the layers of story intertwining with various eras and ages, when the secret is revealed to the reader, it actually made me have a real life “oooh now I get it” moment.
It’s definitely a series I shall continue to read as it goes on, I am thoroughly invested in Wynter’s story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers Piatkus for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Funny, witty and sexy! I'm in love with this new series from Suzanne Wright.
Once again my favorite author has nailed another book. The Wicked in Me is off to an amazing first book and I’m already trying to figure out who I need to sell my soul to, for me to get my hands on the second book!
Wynter and Cain are more similar than they might think, both have secrets they don’t want to part with, throw in some trust issues on top of that. Their chemistry is smoking hot and the steam factor of this book is off the charts.
Already feeling the withdrawal effects from finishing this page turner of a book! Definitely a book that forces you to stay up all night to finish.

A witch called Wynter is the heroine in this novel. I really enjoyed it, the plot moves at a fantastic pace and there are twists and turns right from the beginning, where Wynter is banished unjustly. I will not reveal more of the plot, but I would recommend this novel. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.
