Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an early copy of The Family Trap. The beginning was soooo very predictable but then BAM it had a Twist that I did not see coming. I read this in one sitting on a beautiful Fall afternoon, a very good read. The ending was sad to me but it was the Best ending that could have happened. You will Enjoy this Book.

The Family Trap by Lorna Dounaeva was my first read from this author, but it will certainly not be the last. If you are looking for a quick and satisfying thriler that will keep you glued to the pages, look no further.

Prudence adores her eighteen year old son Nathan, and is shocked when he brings home a new girlfriend, Zoe, who announces that she is pregnant. It is the last scenario that Prudence imagined for her upcoming retirement, but she opens her home to Zoe and the unborn child. When a series of unsettling incidents take place, escalating in danger, Prudence cannot help but wonder if there is more to the mysterious Zoe than meets the eye.

This is my favourite type of domestic thriller as I was kept engrossed and guessing from beginning to end. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book for the purpose of this review. This is my first time reading a book by Lorna Dounaeva and I enjoyed her writing style and the buildup of the mystery. Thrillers are one of my favorite genres to read. I like to figure out who is behind the unfolding drama. I was left with my mouth open until the last few pages of this book! Well done, Lorna!

Prudence has just retired and plans to spend it pottering about in the garden and taking long walks with her dog, Bob. She has a wonderful relationship with her son, Nathan, who has been seeing a girl he met at university. When Zoe turns out to be pregnant, that's when the games begin!

Prudence really feels there's something off about Zoe, but for her son's sake, invites her to stay with them until the baby is born. Zoe is vivacious and engaged when she's around Nathan and Pru's friends find her charming. But she is expressionless or worse around Pru, who just has a very bad feeling about her.

I really related to Prudence - wanting to keep her son close, but not be critical of his girlfriend. Wanting to be close to the new baby, but unable to force Zoe to stay with her for the baby's sake.

This was my second book by the author, and I felt this one resonated with me so much more!

Thank you to NetGalley, Inkubator Books, and Booksprout for an advance reader's copy.

Read this book in two sittings!! I felt like the book had a great pace and kept me intrigued the entire time. It times I got a little confused but other than that I felt like the book flowed very well. I loved the twist and turns the book took me on. I will definitely check out more of Lorna's books in the future.

Great book I couldn’t stop reading till I finished it! A real page turner, the only little blip was Zoe’s destiny, I believe she deserved better, anyway I highly recommend it!

Good book! Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Zoe gets pregnant and moves in with her boyfriend and his mother. The mother starts complaining about things Zoe is doing to her. The son stands up for Zoe. However, you can see the emails Zoe sends her dad, so you know something sinister is going on. What is her overall plot? Who does she wants to hurt? Also involved is Zoe's mother. Is she the bad guy? Is she in cahoots with Zoe? Who is to blame for all the things going on. Lots of shocks in this book I did not see coming!

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks also to the publisher and the author. Intrigue and mystery. This talented author has written a novel that is difficult to put down. A page turner…what will happen next? Who are the bad guys? Who is the killer? Red herrings abound…the characters in this book are just not really likable except the protagonist. She tries to support her son and his girlfriend. She tries to watch over the baby. She is foiled at every attempt. Is anyone acting responsibly? I liked this book…it kept me wondering until the end. I look forward to more from this author. Secrets…
