What a beautifully written and illustrated graphic novel. Even though it is aimed at children, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! The story has an important message and the characters are sweet and relatable. I really need a tama tama in my life!

Entering Tykotech city is a perfect escape from the real world. Juniper Mae is a wonderful inventor who loves building her own gadgets in hopes she can one day contribute to the advancement of Tykotech. She then becomes drawn in to solving the mystery of the theft of the city’s power! The artwork really brought the whimsical story to life. Juniper is a resourceful, empathetic heroine who takes the reader on a brilliant adventure.

The story ends on a cliffhanger so I am really looking forward to the next instalment!

This book is a perfect gateway between comics and graphic novels for the more reluctant of readers. Highly recommend this graphic novel!

Absolutely beautiful and adorable illustrations accompanying a charming story about a young inventor and a tama-tama she befriends. Juniper Mae and Albie are delightful and though the story is a fun little read, I think the strength of this book lies in its illustrations, concept, and character interactions.

‘Building her own gadgets in her dad’s repair shop, Juniper Mae is a certified kid wonder. She builds jet packs, socks that keep your feet warm and dry, floating fish bowls… But a slight malfunction with one of her latest inventions causes her to crash-land in the dangerous forests around her city, and there she discovers a whole world of mystery, ancient knights and even a small green tama-tama friend, Albie.’

It’s an easy read with beautiful illustrations. A perfect way to escape the real world and enter Tykotech City.

The colours used in this short comic are absolutely dreamy and I cannot wait for a second instalment of the comic.

I’d recommend this one to anyone who loves illustration and making things as it definitely inspired me to get creative and I’d have loved reading this one growing up.

Well, it's about time for a new rule for me to follow with reviews. It runs along the lines of – never trust a book that doesn't credit the actual author on the cover. Sarah Soh's name is all over this, and yes she did a fine job drawing it, but the concept is hers and the text someone else's – although having looked at this I am not surprised if he asked for the credit to go missing. This is weak. To start with, we have a Corp controlling the Core – a mahoosive company running the only energy source in the city. Our heroine ends up in the forgotten realms of the forests outside said wonderful city, finds what rumour had it would only be a horrid monster, befriends the un-monstrous character, and discovers a way to help the city and get a close connection to legendary female warriors of yore. Oh, and to fire the thingy down the tube to save the day, as if this was in the Star Wars universe.

There's little terribly wrong about this, but a lot that isn't right – it's over far too quickly, it has dreadful character motivation for the baddie, it is derivative… None of that will spoil it for the target audience, who clearly aren't au fait with how many times we've had the thingy fired down the tube to save the day done better before now. But should you settle for something that's fine for under-eights on their way to something better? No, you should head straight for the better, and there's a lot of that around. Two and a half stars.

A gorgeously illustrated graphic novel!

Although aimed at kids, I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The characters were cute and relatable and the story feels like it might develop into one with a great sustainable message!

Also it ended on kind of a cliffhanger so now I'm hooked!

I LOVED the art for this it was so cute! The character style was wonderful and the little tama-tama’s were just adorable! There were some truly beautiful scenes drawn into this and the colours were lovely!

Aside from the wonderful art, the story was fun too! It’s a little bit sci-fi with all the tech but there’s still nature around the city and a throwback to tales of Knights from old! I loved the mix of modern and tech with nature and olden times!

Juniper Mae is such a lovely character! She’s an inventor and I’d like to say there’s a stem focus in this because of it as she’s coming up with all these wonderful inventions and dealing heroically with the theft of the city’s power!

This was just such a lovely story with some really wonderful art and I can’t wait to see what happens with Juniper Mae next!

I really want a tama-tama for a best friend now.

This was such a sweet and whimsical little graphic novel/comic, and I just fell in love with the adorable art style of this one. The colour palette and soft nature of the art really brought this world to life, and I'm very intrigued for the next volume. Juniper was such a fun and quirky main character and Albie is the sweetest companion and friend.

This was short and sweet with fast pacing, and yet I don’t feel like the plot suffered for it, in fact it felt like a good setup for a fun sci-fi series, and the little cliffhanger ending definitely helped!

(Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review).

A highly enjoyable and beautifully illustrated graphic novel.

This follows Juniper Mae a citizen at Tykotech City who enjoys building her own gadgets and hopes to one day contribute to the advancement of Tykotech.

Juniper Mae crash lands into the forests beyond Tykotech and discovers a history of ancient knights and discovers a new friend! Her new friend a tama-tama, Albie who dreams of seeing Tykotech like Juniper Mae wished to see the forest. However, when something happens to the core which is the energy source, Juniper Mae is inspired by the Guardian Knights and sets out to save the city.

This was highly enjoyable and the art is gorgeous.
