This book took me completely by surprise! I was not expecting it, but this is one of my favourite RomComs of the year. Prepare yourself to laugh out loud, scream in frustration, and swoon while reading Vacation Wars by Meghan Quinn.

Tessa spends every Summer on vacation with her family in Santorini. Introverted, awkward and a lover of numbers (my kinda girl), Tessa’s twin-sister and two best friends are concerned that she’ll never find the love of her life. With Tessa’s twin sister’s wedding coming up, it feels like the end of an era for their friendship group. The three women vow to “help” Tessa find “the one”, much to Tessa’s dismay.

The thing is, Tessa has always had the BIGGEST crush on Myles- the boy/man she sees every vacation but has never had the guts to talk to… until now. What she doesn’t know is that Myles has always had his eye on her too. The problem is, how does people-pleasing Tessa deal with her group’s unwanted match-making and not put her foot in her mouth while talking to DREAMY Myles???

This Dual POV book had me laughing so hard at Tessa and Myles’ antics, mostly because they are the most adorably awkward characters ever! There were moments when side characters were annoying, but honestly, I didn’t care because the FMC and MMC had my heart in a GRIP. There were some moments that squeezed my heart so tightly, and some that had me in a puddle of feelings. This felt like the kind of book that I would LOVE to see in the movies. Perfection!

This was so cute!! Loved the twist on Greek mythology, as well as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants similarities. The friendship and relationship between Tessa and her sister was brutal. But, getting to experience the in real time blossoming of Myles and Tessa’s relationship, from childhood crushes to being absolutely destined to be together. It was SO cute. It was a bit slower than I would have liked but I really really enjoyed it. I need a book for Toby’s POV now!

HUGE Meaghan Quinn fan! This was a cute read. I enjoyed the story, as well as the characters. I loved how the story was set in Greece. It was a perfect read for summer.

While entertaining and easy to read, Vacation Wars wasn’t my favorite from Meghan Quinn. The premise was fun and the setting was perfection, but this book just didn’t work for me.

A delightful summer read filled with good banter and learning the boundaries of friendships and sisterhood. The childhood pact caused utter chaos and the journey of readjusting those expectations as an adult was hilarious and relatable.

The antics of this group left me laughing out loud and the chemistry between Tessa and Myles is off the charts. This was a quick read that had the perfect satisfying ending.

Meghan Quinn is a top tier romance writer, perfect for getting me out of a romance slump with her effortlessly hilarious writing and chemistry stronger than MANY of the romance books that I have read in the past. She always hits the mark and Vacation Wars was so different.

I will always be excited for whatever she comes out with!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Tessa and Myles. Tessa has to Santorino on a girls trip. Tessa has been coming for years, every time she looks for a boy, Myles. She has seen him every year, maybe not spoke but seen him. There is an attraction. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

Another must read from Ms. Quinn! Just when I was in a Book slump, Vacation Wars appeared on my kindle.

Not only did I get the laughs/giggles I knew Meghan would give me, she also gave me a great story between two people who fit perfectly together. It doesn’t hurt either that the local was beautiful!

Thank you Meghan for giving me a story that I really needed at this time.

Meghan did it again. Tessa and Myles are a fun couple to follow. Tessa is at Myles family resort with her friends and sister before her sister's wedding.

Tessa and Myles have always watched each other from a far when Tessa's family vacationed there in the summer but neither made a move until Tessa gives over her right to her love life to her friends and sister because of a contract that she entered with them in high school.

Myles being so sweet decided to help her win the war against her sister and friends.

I always have a good time when reading a Meghan Quinn book and this one is no different. I don't think is as good as my favorite book from hers but it's entertaining and easy to read.

Meghan Quinn is queen of romcom. It's just fact at this point.
Her stories not only have you laughing so hard your belly hurts. They also have moments of relatability, Times of hardship and heart break and moments of sweet vulnerability and swoon worthy goodness.

Tessa is sweet, quicky and suffers with a terrible cause of awkward verbal word vomit.
It's utterly adorable and super unfortunate for her but it is also what makes her so special.
I truly enjoyed her raw honestly and vulnerability. She is a character many will relate for to many reasons.

Myles is just utter perfection. He was sweet, kind and attentive. He was genuine from the start, Cared for his loved ones deeply and wasn't scared by the hot mess sweet Tessa turned into anytime he was around. He was delicious.

They had me crazy with their ridiculous denial and avoidance of the very obvious attraction between them. But it's also what provided endless entertainment and of course the crazy slow build of tension, so I can't be to mad. They just really were made for one another. The sweet silly moments, the laughter... the genuine interest in what they both wanted for their futures. It all just hit so right and I was smiling so hard my cheeks hurt.
Also the chemistry.. that right there is something else.

Now the Girls.. Ok they stressed me out but I also loved them. Tessa should of put her foot down from the beginning but she didn't and it spiralled into this crazy pact from long ago that ended up driving them all crazy. But I love that they loved each other that much. Did they act immature and selfish at times? yes but also they are only human caught up in a moments with their own dramas, fears and insecurities. They are crazy but that's family right? and these girls are a family.

I love Myles developing relationship with his Baba. It really was something so special in the end.

As a whole I loved this story. It's very Meghan Quinn in all it's crazy, hilarious and dysfunctional glory. She never fails to have me hooked in within the first few pages and this was no different.

Just a warning though... your belly will hurt from the laughing. It's everything romcom with the sweetest of endings.

Somewhat different than the typical Meghan Quinn novel, this one focuses on two twin sisters Tessa and Roxanne. The girls and their family have vacationed at the same resort in Greece for years, and have now returned for Roxanne's wedding with their two high school friends. As the four start a girls pre-wedding girls trip, the scene quickly turns to them focused on getting Tessa hooked up. While it starts as some fun and hilarity, it quickly turns into sister drama when Tessa becomes frustrated by it all and Roxanne and Tessa have an epic blow up.

While all of this is happening, Tessa is also getting long awaited attention from Myles, the boy that she's crushed on each summer. She finds that he has been infatuated with her as well, and their relationship blooms. Myles has his own family drama, and the overall story intertwines the two narratives, different points of view, and their individual family situation. Throw in some long-distance romance, an old contract between friends, and a bottle of perfume, you have a complex story that is a slow burn, and has some of the typical hilarity you'd expect from Meghan, but a bit more mean girls than normal.

This was a cute romance in a gorgeous Greek setting! Thanks to NetGalley for this book!
I loved Tessa and Myles! They had a sweet story and good chemistry! I liked the author's sense of humor!
I sadly wasn't a fan of the sister or friends, which was my only downside.
I've always wanted to to to Greece, which sounds even more amazing by this book! I would recommend this book if you're wanting a light quick summer romance.

Such a fun read from Meghan Quinn. Enjoyed the story and how it unfolded. The characters, dialogue drew me in!

I SO LOVED this book. Meghan once again provided a much needed escape for me with this book. It was cleaver, well written and a true laugh out loud book in perfect timing for summer. Tessa and Myles were fantastic! A shared desire that was unknown to each, summers of memories that are similar and yet different make up their encounters and start their story or journey together. LOVED every bit of this. The contract was truly the icing on the cake, brilliantly done.

Tessa and her twin sister have been going to the same Santorini resort for years. This year, they are there for a wedding with all their friends and Tessa's feet are being held to the flame as her friends invoke a years old pact. Now Tessa is no longer in charge of her love life in the same country as The Bulge.

It's been a while since I've read a book that has my opinion split so evenly down the middle. It's not often that I genuinely long for half stars in these reviews, but 2 1/2 being perfectly in the middle would have been more appropriate. I think an old fashioned Likes vs Dislikes list may be necessary.

What I Liked:

- Myles & Tessa's communication. Even when they weren't making the best decisions, they at least still communicated fairly openly through it.

- Myles & Tessa's backstory and dynamic. It was super cute and fun to read, simple as that.

- The discussion of family dynamics and shades of codependency that can take root.

What I Didn't Like:

- The relationship dynamics between Tessa, her sister, and their two best friends. There was a lot of toxicity there and it was unenjoyable. We also don't get to see a lot of the off page healing that could have happened, which is implied in texts between Myles & Tessa. I'm all for a reckoning in close relationships and growth, but it didn't feel earned here.

- Tessa being SO awkward. I get that a lot of this was played up for humor, but it was too much for me. Her nervous rambling pushed into secondhand embarrassment territory a little too much to be comfortable.

I was excited to kick off the summer reading season with this one but unfortunately it wasn't a hit for me.

I was so uncomfortable with several of the relationships portrayed here. I understand they had to be extreme in order to make a point but the level of toxicity was too much for me. I think it was supposed to be funny at times but I never found the humor.

The romantic relationship was sweet at times and the setting described was beautiful.

I usually like Meghan Quinn's stories, but this one is not for me. Although the love story is sweet, hot and cute, the war between the sisters was awful to read, it made me angry every single time and spoiled the whole book for me. Even the funny moments weren't funny to me at all.
Miles is a sweetheart, a really great MC, but Tessa is not up to his standards.
Sometimes you can't connect with the characters or the story and that's what happened to me.

Un pequeño chasquito.
Las novelas de Meghan Quinn son de esas que uso para desconectar el cerebro, unos nadismos de mono con platillos donde lo importante es pasar un buen rato y no pensar. No es que esta novela me haya hecho pensar, obviamente, pero sí tiene una parte que me ha resultado muy molesta de leer y que me ha estropeado toda la lectura.
En esta novela hay dos tramas, una amorosa, con una pareja que se lleva viendo todos los veranos desde que eran pequeños pero que nunca se han atrevido a cruzar dos palabras, y otra fraternoamistosa donde tres chicas se dedican a manejar la vida amorosa de la protagonista basándose en un contrato chorra que hicieron de adolescentes. Vamos a ver, que ya tenéis canas en el xirri! No os da vergüenza hacer esas mierdas? Se supone que esa parte de graciosa y sirve de excusa para que los protagonistas se acerquen pero ha sido algo extremadamente molesto que casi me hace abandonar la lectura.
Si hay una cosa que aprecio de los pocos libros que he leído de esta escritora es que sus diálogos suenan muy naturales y en general son lecturas muy cómodas pero esta casi me ha parecido el ascenso al Everest.
Menos mal que el maromo es FA-BU-LO-SO y con eso me quedo. Bueno, y con los meneos que se meten, que la Quinn nos los cuenta y eso es BIEN.

This one... wasn't for me. A friend also got an ARC of this one and while other Meghan Quinn books have been instant five stars, this one just fell flat. Tessa was irritating, her family was the worst, and it was just missing SOMETHING.

The setting was beautiful though. I need to read more romance set in Santorini because that place is utterly gorgeous.

If you're looking to pick up a MQ book, I wouldn't suggest this one. Come ask me for some recommendations if you're interested on what to read, though.
