The perfect cutesy romcom needed for in between those chunky fantasy boys! This is everything I ever want in a romcom and it’s my first by this author, definitely won’t be my last

This was such a good book. It was so easy to read and that’s what I look for in a romcom. Very cute. Would definitely recommend

Great from start to finish! I love Lana and Seth and thought their relationship was so cute. Perfect feel good rom-com that I stayed up late to finish. If you like a second chance romance you’ll enjoy this one.

I decided to try and give Fallon Ballard another shot after dnf-ing another one of her books but I have now come to the conclusion that her writing just isn't for me, which sucks because I love the premises of her books!

Oh well!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book involved everything I love - enemies to lovers, rivals to lovers, second chance romance,
Pining over a high school sweetheart is something I'm slightly familiar with so I absolutely loved this.
Highly recommend!

This is the second book that I've read by Falon Ballard and I can easily see her being an auto read/buy author for me.
Her writing always draws you in and I really liked this take on the second chance romance trope, despite not being the biggest fan of that kind of romance in the past.
There was a nice amount of tension, some great steamy scenes and the story flowed well. I was also rooting for the two characters to finally get together, which is always the mark of a good romance.
I also liked the side characters. I would 100% read a book from May's POV.
Maybe the set up in the beginning was slightly unbelievable but if you lean into it, it works.
This was a quick and easy read that I really enjoyed. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for what Falon does next too.

So Lana is pretty happy working as a relationship columnist until she gets dumped and then her wunderkind ex gets a job at the same outlet. She hates him. She hates him real bad. He was the first man to break her heart dammit. Now their editor, in some seriously questionable HR decisions, makes them set each other relationship tasks. Lana has to be a happy singleton and Seth has to learn how to keep a relationship going. And one of them gets to keep their job at the end. This was fun, there’s a good streak of pettiness in the beginning which I like in an enemies to lovers trope and Ballard has a sharpness that stops it getting too smushy. The tasks they set each other are way too easy though and their editor should absolutely be fired, there are all sorts of employment abuses going on in that workplace. It’s so questionable yet nobody really questioned it, which was weird. Overall fun times and all the feels at the end.

This book is the perfect example of how a second chance romance can be fun and I really enjoyed it!! It also did the 'it was always you' trope so well. The pining, the desire, the tension - it was delicious.

I will say, there were A LOT of pop culture references, so read this book now before they all become irrelevant and confusing.

Thank you to Net Galley, Headline and Falon Ballard for the e-arc.

Just pure fun! A romp of a second chance, with Lana and Seth forced together to compete for the same role at an online publication. Their chemistry was undeniable, as Ballard did a great job at giving them reasons they could not be together, while giving us another million reasons to root for them.
I also loved the complicated relationship Lana had with her boss, and how the novel explored toxic working relationships, and just how hard it is to see them while you're inside.

A good second chance romance. A quick and easy read with lots of likeable characters and had you rooting for the two protagonists the whole way through. Easy to read within a few hours

Eek this was so adorable. A lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers again romance, I loved the banter and tension between Lana and Seth. This was a sit down and read in one go kind of book. I loved the build up of their past, also, the office romance, the whole, we've got assignments that pit us against each other, I'm going to win, but are you really? Ok, now I'm rambling but anyways, I loved the writing, as expected from Fallon's debut. Just the right amount of spice, and I saw people complaining about the Marvel references but no complaints from me.
Recommend for people looking for a second chance, we've got history, in the Taylor Swift-esque way, so much tension office romance.
Thank you to Headline and Netgalley for the free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this story of second chances - the main character made this story believable and this is something which drew me in. I read this in about 36 hours and could only put down for short periods as I needed to get back to it. The writing style was just my thing and even with it being predictable that you could work out which characters were going to get together it was really enjoyable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Just My Type by Falon Ballard

I love Falon Ballard’s writing, it is very easy to read and Lease on Love was one of my favourite books of last year, it felt so comforting to me, so I was super excited to read Just My Type, and I enjoyed this one… just not as much as Lease on Love, for me it was missing that spark that Lease on Love had… I found that I was left wanting more.

It was still a fun time, I loved the workplace environment and the side characters were great. (I loved Lana’s best friend and would love a book based on her!)

This book starts off in a Legally Blonde direction (which I loved!), Lana thinks that her boyfriend is going to propose, but instead she gets dumped. She calls upon her best friend and they get a *little* bit drunk, and in the morning Lana realises that she is late for work. Looking a bit worse for wear, she races into work, where she finds out that her ex boyfriend, the one who got away, will be working at her office and they have to compete for their dream job at a big newspaper.

I did enjoy this book, it was a mindless read and super cute, but the Marvel references did frustrate me and have me rolling my eyes at times… Though I would recommend if you love Marvel and pop culture references.

Read if you like:
💙 Second chance romance
💙 Workplace rivals
💙 Competition
💙 Fun banter
💙 Marvel references
💙 Cute side characters
💙 The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

(Thank you so much to Headline Eternal for sending me a copy of this book!)

3.5 stars

I had heard really good things about Ballard's debut Lease on Love, and on this second novel of hers too, so I was excited to get into it. I clicked with the writing style straight away, and found myself getting through the chapters really easily, especially the integration of texts and chat messages alongside the prose. Unfortunately there were a few things, some minor and some major, that I wasn't a fan of and I probably would've rated this lower if it wasn't for how much I liked both the writing style and the chemistry between Lana and Seth. I really wasn't a fan of the random Thor references interspersed; I can see what the author was trying to do but I just didn't think it necessary. I also got so frustrated at times with LAna refusing to admit to her feelings for Seth and prolonging both of their agonies, and I have to say it really didn't work in increasing tensions or making the ending more satisfying, it just did the opposite.

Just my type, by Falon Ballard. I read this through Netgalley, in e-book format. The following is my honest review.

Just my type is a rom-com set in our day and age, with the second chance romance trope.

Lana is a relationship columnist for a magazine. When he partner breaks up with her, her boss asks her to stay single and write about her experience. Simple, right? But when Seth comes in the office, Lana's boss sees an opportunity like no other. She sets them up for a friendly competition: for Seth to find a girlfriend, and for Lana to manage to stay single. Lana and Seth have a history and clearly, they both still have feelings for each other. Not that they'd openly admit it.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any rom-com enthusiast. I read this book after a particularly difficult book, which is usually what I do so that my emotions are not always 'in the gutters' or 'in the clouds.'

I particularly enjoyed reading May, Lana's best friend. I think her 'take no crap' attitude is why I liked her. I enjoyed reading Seth and Lana's interactions, but not so much Lana alone. I felt like she was letting too many things 'happen' to her - including her boss and how she used her role in the company to get what she wanted. And Lana let her get away with it.

The friends circle was really interesting and I loved reading the group chat, as this was great fun.

Finally, I thought the dedication was amazing:

'To all the mums - you're doing a great job, and especially to my mom, who has always done the best job.'
The characters development was interesting, particularly with Lana - I think my all-time-favorite for this book is her boxing session. Lana is a completely changed/matured person by the end of this book, which was amazing to read.

I loved this book!

I really enjoyed this story – it was charming, romantic and a sexy read.

I loved the characters and thought that they were brilliantly developed. They were funny and really likable and that helped so much with my enjoyment of the book.

The author’s writing style was perfect for the book, the words flowed really well in the book and I was addicted to the story.

I thought that the characters were well developed and had great personalities. It was a fun story that was a pleasure to read

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended - I loved it!

I adored this book. I picked it up one night and did not put it down until I finished it. I just really enjoyed every second of this book. I would say it is kind of a second chance romance trope with some fun characters, a fun challenge that opens them up more to their true feelings and have some fun along the way.

Lana writes for a website. She does the dating and romance parts but after getting dumped instead of engaged she's not feeling all that about writing about relationships. When an opportunity comes up for her to move up and write about other stuff she is ready to take the chance and do it but there is one thing in her way. Seth, who is also wanting this job is also her ex-boyfriend. Her high school boyfriend who she truly loved but things didn't work out. Both pitted against each other they each get 10 tasks to complete and social media will be the decider of who wins. As they start to spend more time together will old feelings resurfaces or did they never go away?

Lana is down on her luck after her break up and finally having the chance to move up in her career she is ready to do it and do whatever it will take. Seth coming back is hard for her as he is the one that got away and having to compete with him is difficult especially when they have to spend more and more time together. They are both competitive and there is a lot of tension between them. They have really great chemistry and I just really enjoyed reading about them both and this story was so fun.

They both have things they need to deal with and put things behind them before they both can take that step forward. There is a great talk about therapy in this book which both characters go too and I think it was done so well with showing how much it helped them both and had such a positive thoughts on it. The characters developed so well over the course of the book and I just really loved this book. I went into it not knowing much about it but it was such a fun office second chance romance book that I think everyone will love and definitely needs to pick up asap!
