The name of the book really sparked my interest and the description of it was really promising. But, I struggled to connect with the characters.

It was the title and the cover design that first sparked my interest.

I found this story a little bit eerie, a little bit creepy, and a little bit unsettling. It was much more spicy than I initially expected too. I didn't really connect with any of the characters or find them very relatable, but there was something about it that still had me reading until the end.

Twenty-year-old medical student and beloved daughter Sarah has died at the hands of her lover. But her death is not her end. Her father seeks to resurrect her. And he might succeed. Likewise, Sarah is full of rage, and her spirit returns as a succubus who is bent on revenge toward unfaithful men. However, her “white energy” catches the attention of two sinister succubae who try to steal her energy in order to become invincible. Will Sarah succeed in her vengeful mission? And what will happen to her parents? Is anyone truly safe?
I do appreciate the author's imagination. The sci-fi element in this novel is complex and intriguing.
However, over 75% of the book is graphic sex scenes with plenty of profanity sprinkled in amongst all the nipple references and pornography.
And the author overuses "said" while telling rather than showing the story. I found myself looking in rather than being part of the story.

I loved the idea of a woman scorned coming back for revenge, and this book was wonderfully done. A.P. Immanuel has a great writing style going on and I could feel the tense atmosphere coming from the pages. The characters were great and I could understand the main characters motive. I was invested in what was going on and enjoyed getting to read this horror novel.

"One of the most special features of white spirits is their ability to move at light speeds. You may use it to get to the portal if you have not been too contaminated. However, if the Shigidians get you, this place will be where you spend eternity. So focus on the portal, then release your energy for speed. You did that when you arrived at the bridge and responded to your dad’s call; that was why you did not see the Ajoguns.”

Before I start this, know that I'm ace and so my so my sex repulsion was always going to make this a rough sit, so those with a little more appetite for the sexier side of things may find more to love here, but their prevalence here made it hard to get through. This book bursts with such great ideas, and the characters are often quite well drawn, but some clunky writing and my discomfort with the sex scenes make this one I can't personally recommend.

Lady in the Rain by A.P. Immanuel.
20-year-old Sarah has died at the hands of her lover, but her death is not her end. Full' of rage, Sarah's spirit returns as a succubus, bent on revenge, and no unfaithful man is safe in her path. However, when her "white energy" catches the attention of two more sinister succubae (Livia and Alexis), the hunt is on to destroy her. Will they take the white energy to become invincible in the universe? Will Livia and Alexis kill her? Will Sarah be able to enact her revenge?
Really enjoyed this book. Dark and twisted. Sarah grew on me. I hope there is more to come. 5*.
