A lovely reimagining of the Romeo and Juliet love story for the modern age.
I really enjoyed seeing the history unfold for Helene and Sebastian as we and Helene learn more about their lives together and apart.
I really enjoyed the little vignettes as we followed Helene and her love of the fated lovers.
Evelyn Skye has written a beautiful, emotional story full of hope.

If you can suspend your disbelief & go along for the ride with this one, you may just love it like I did.

The Hundred Loves of Juliet had me hooked. Written in dual POV, but with the addition of the wonderful, sometimes emotional, little stories of their previous lives scattered throughout, which really added to the way the novel played out.

This tale is heavily focused on the central Romeo & Juliet characters with little from others, but due to the nature of the many lives aspects, you do get quite a range within these two main characters.

This won't be for everyone, but it was for me. My only criticism was the speed at which the story wrapped up & I wanted more answers about certain elements of their story. However, it hasn't taken away from the read for me.

If you're a fan of Ashley Poston, Sophie Cousens or Helly Acton, you should give this a try.

When I read the synopsis , I was interested in the premise and was looking forward to reading a Romeo and Juliet retelling with a reincarnation twist. Romeo (now Sebastian) is immortal and cursed to fall in love with Juliet (now Helene) over and over again, only to then watch her die an untimely death. Romeo doesn’t die but is cursed to live forever as an immortal. And so it goes.

However, I was disappointed. I think it was poorly executed and overall fell flat to me. It doesn’t help that the author references Americans every 10 chapters. I didn’t resonate with the sense of humour. I wasn’t really convinced with their connection. The location descriptions were quite vivid and her imagery allows for easy visualization. I found it really hard to finish this book and had to push through to finish the book. I felt like I was held hostage while reading this book.

The curse was also badly explained and I was left quite confused even after the last chapter. It felt all over the place. Overall, it was just okay. Some moments were cute but it was just there. The author’s note is beautiful too and I understand why she wrote the book. The audiobook is good too, the narrators did well.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the ARC.

I thought I was going to really enjoy this book but unfortunately it wasn’t for me and it fell flat:/ took me quite a while to finish it too!!

I wanted to love this book, I love the concept (one of my favourite tropes) and I love the story behind the novel even more.
But I couldn't get past 20%. within that 20% you don't develop a connection to either male or female MC, or their story. There's too much internal agonising and moaning that very little plot actually happens. Additionally, all I could think was that I was reading a fanfic alternative to the Fallen Series. As I said I love the trope and don't mind that it reminded me of the Fallen series, but combined with the lack of connection with the MC's I just couldn't go on...

I was incredibly excited about the premise, and while I did love the overall story, I feel like I expected more from the characters. They felt a little flat.

While this was a cute read, I found it also a bit tedious. It felt like it wanted to be a different genre at certain events which my brain just couldn't get on board with.

The narrative follows Helene and Sebastian - reincarnations on Romeo and Juliet who find each other every time they are 'reborn'. The problem is, only Romeo remembers what happened and Juliet always dies shortly after they meet in each lifetime leaving Romeo to grieve over and over.

When Helene arrives in Alaska, she recognises Sebastian as a character she created over and over again for her novels and Sebastian immediately recognises 'Juliet'. In an attempt to push her away he decides to act like a real ass but Helene can't let it go - I'm sure you can guess how the rest goes.

The element in the story that I had trouble with was the inclusion of Helene's ex-husband who was very controlling and actually has her stalked - this took me away from the romance that I wanted and made it feel a bit thriller-ish.

I'm also on the fence about the need to include the stories Helene penned which include Sebastian as the main character. At first I found them interesting but eventually I just skimmed them to get back to the main story, they just felt like unnecessary padding rather than adding something to the story.

The concept of the novel was eye-catching and intriguing! A time travel romance centred around a retelling of Romeo and Juliet? Yes Please! Reading through the book, I enjoyed it, especially the insights into both characters.

Please can someone give me a direction to shipyard books because that is a place I’m sure all book lovers would love to go.

I really loved the mini stories within the book that showed their past lives! It was a perfect mix of historical and modern romance. If you’ve been looking to get into historical romance books this would be a great way to start and ease yourself in.

The dual pov was great too as it gave a full rounded picture of how the two characters were experiencing the events. I loved both Sebastian and Helena. Separately and together.

Some great aspects/ tropes in this book include: forced proximity, pop culture references, book loving main characters.

This book was so heartbreakingly beautiful. It was so much more than a romance it was about fate and true love. It really made me think of the quote “ better to have loved and lost then never loved at all”

It was such a perfect ending. I wish it was longer but only because i didn’t want to leave this book behind not because it needed to be. Evelyn rounded the story up beautifully.

The authors note at the end also elevated the story to a whole new level of heartbreakingly beautiful ! I love when the authors give us a glimpse into the inspiration behind their stories.

Overall I loved this book and I loved the sentiment behind this book. If you’re considering giving this book a chance please do!

Shakespeare’s famous tragedy written in a new and exciting way, I was so thrilled getting to read this and it did not disappoint! I LOVE the premise and could not put it down.

I love re-imaginings and Romeo and Juliet is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, so I was so excited for this and it didn't disappoint. It was modern and moving and I loved it

A time-travelling romance story following two characters who keep finding each other.

This had the feels- it made me swoon. I liked the simplistic writing, it was easy to follow, and the characters were well-fleshed out and more importantly, flawed, which made this a joy to read. I really liked the plot and how easy it was to follow.

I would recommend this if you're looking for something light- it reminded me of a studio Ghibli animation and it was a lot of fun!

I LOVED the premise of this book! I’m a longtime Romeo and Juliet fan so I knew I would naturally be a sucker for this. It was so sweet and heartbreaking at points. I just love the idea of fate bringing them together despite their best efforts, and I enjoyed the twist on the original play!

I so wanted to give this five stars and the first half totally was a five star read, with Helene’s uncanny feeling that she just knew Sebastien - so romantic! And then Sebastian’s pining for her and futile attempts to stay away. Swooooon.

But once they actually got together, it felt a bit too fast paced. I did love the drama of Helene’s ex husband, etc. though.

Bereft at the lack of epilogue! I loved the final message of just embracing life but this was crying out for some epic like 100 years in the future epilogue, given the span of the novel!

Overall though, it’s a must read for fans of Romeo and Juliet.

Lots of things to love:

- retelling of Romeo and Juliet
- fantasy
- immortal MMC
- forced proximity - stuck together in snowstorm
- epic love story over 200 years
- forbidden romance
- surprise pregnancy
- mild spice

As someone who teaches Romeo and Juliet every year, I was fascinated by the premise of this novel looking at the reincarnations of the main characters from Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. It turned out to be a gentle and relaxing grown up read, which was perfect for the summer holidays. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy of this book.

I sooo wanted to like this book. It sounded like a perfect one to sink into and enjoy. Sadly, the whole thing proved pedantic and hum-drum, even turning boring at many parts. For example, the 'vignettes' which are really the times when Romeo & Juliet met again and again, were as beautiful as they were tragic...and there's only so much tragedy one can stomach over the course of a book which is supposed to be a romance and uplifting. The 'modern' times also missed the boat - zero chemistry between Sebastian and Helene, who was a very unlikeable character throughout, to be honest.
This had so much potential, but it lacked steam (and not the 'heat' kind - the actual, carry-us-throughout type)

Firstly, thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Evelyn Skye for a copy of this book in return for a review.

What a lovely story - I wouldn't say it was exceptional and extraordinary, but it was lovely. I love a R+J retelling and this was a really interesting premise. I enjoyed it, but it didn't stand out above other books I've read.
