A good read, enjoyed the characters and the twisty and turny nature of the plot. Kept me hooked and gripped all the way through. Another really good page turner from the author.

The woman who lied is another gripping psychological thriller from Claire Douglas. Emilia Ward is a well known author of a series of popular detective novels. When a number of sinister events occur, mirroring her books, Emilia begins to suspect those around her and isn’t sure who she can trust. When her children seem at risk and tragedy happens with a close friend, she becomes determined to find out who is responsible and why they are tormenting her.
I found this novel to be engaging, mainly due to the characters and their individual relationships and situations. I did find the ending unnecessarily convoluted which did detract from my enjoyment and satisfaction overall.

Another author who I have read many of her titles. Douglas has the art of a good mystery / thriller down to a tee. The Woman Who Lied is a super example of this.

Emilia is a crime author living in London with her husband Elliot and two kids. She has finished the 10th and last of her crime series and has circulated it to her friends and family to read before it gets edited and published.

Events start happening around and to Emilia, all a little too similar to plots from her previous novels. Someone is targeting her, but why.

Then a couple of things happen that come from the 10th novel, a novel that only a limited list of people have read, all friends and family, other than her editor and agent. So someone who she knows and trusts is targeting her.

This is a clever woven story, giving you enough breadcrumbs along the way to suspect a number of Emilia’s friends and family. It is cleverly packed with twists that keep you guessing, just as you think you’ve solved what is going on.

I good one if you are a fan of twisty thrillers with a serial killer thrown in to the mix.

Another fascinating mystery from one of my favourite authors. I give this 5/5.

I haven't read much by Ms Douglas in a while, so this was a surprise and enjoyable read! The book was well written, but unfortunately too many references to her previous books that might spoil it for newbies. Recommended to anyone who likes a good solid read that is entertaining until the end.

Emilia is a successful crime writer and has just completed her tenth book featuring DI Miranda Moody. She is currently married to Elliot and has two children. Her first marriage to Jonas, after falling pregnant with their daughter, ended when he left Emilia for her best friend. That is when she started writing her crime novels. Emilia has now decided that this tenth book will be the last in the series as she has decided to kill of Miranda. She is unsure how her publisher will react to this and so has also given the final manuscript to some close friends and family members to gauge their reaction. But events soon start to happen that mirrors the story in her book. So who is responsible? It can only be someone who has read the book. Is Emilia’s life in danger as Miranda was killed off in the book? I enjoyed reading this book but found the storyline confusing at times and a little far fetched.
Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin for giving me the oppto read and review this book.

Wow what a fantastic read, loved the concept of the book within a book. Couldn't put this book down, I read it over a lazy weekend, so happy I picked this one up.

Emilia Ward always wanted to be an author but marrying young, having a child drifted into journalism. Her husband ran off with her best friend, but she remarried Elliot & has a young son Wilfie. Along with Jasmine, now a teenager she is happy. Over the years she wrote a number of very successful crime novels featuring Miranda Moody. However after ten books she is keen for a change & decides this time Miranda must die! But strange things happen & she recognises them from her books- a coincidence?. When someone dies in the same way as in the book she has not yet published she begins to be seriously worried- will she end up like Miranda?

This was definitely a 'stay up late' read! I really enjoyed all the twists & turns. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this great book

Thank you NetGalley, Michael Joseph and Claire Douglas for this gifted copy of The Woman Who Lied! This is my third time reading one of her books and she's now cemented as a favourite! The Woman Who Lied is a fast paced, clever story full of mystery and intrigue!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! It had the feel of a popcorn thriller and I couldn't get enough! From the very start I was trying to come up with theories but I was left guessing until the very end! The writing and layout of this one was very clever, almost a bit of a red herring itself! Overall, this was such a great little read and I can't wait to see what Douglas has coming next!

This is a good story, well written with enough red herrings to fill a tank!
There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the mystery is all pervasive and you find yourself caught up in it.
I enjoyed it.

Emilia Ward is a best selling author best know for her Miranda Moody books. Happily married to her second husband Elliot and mother to a son and daughter, life seems to be good. That is until she notices strange coincidences when elements of her book start to take place in her real life. Suddenly, someone has accessed her house and reprogrammed electricals, her daughter has gone missing and her best friend is dead. Who is stalking Emilia and for what reason?

I found The Woman who lied to be quick paced and easy to read. I was hooked on the reasons to why Emilia might have been target and the wannabe detective in me was suspicious of everyone.

Overall a good read.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I have enjoyed Claire Douglas's previous books. This one took me longer to get through than normal due to not being as engrossed in the story as I normally would be. It felt a bit dragged out and not overly suspenseful. The whole thing felt a little bit forgetful, it isn't a story I am going to remember and want to read again.
I look forward to see what Claire Douglas writes next, as I will still be interested in reading her work.

Claire Douglas hits it out of the park again! This was a super read.
I loved the whole author within a story concept ( even better when it's a murder author) and she cleverly made me really wonder who I could trust. A well woven story, with twists and turns that made me think I'd worked it out - but I hadnt! This is what I have come to rely on for any Claire Douglas novel and I feel so safe in her hands!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Claire Douglas is one of my auto-buy authors, so I couldn’t wait to get stuck into The Woman Who Lied.

I love Douglas’ writing; it’s sharp, engaging, and draws you in straight away. She’s also an expert at creating a suspenseful, tense atmosphere.

The characterisation is excellent, and I was never really sure who to trust; I was left guessing and double-guessing all the way through.

I loved the storyline, which I thought was well-plotted, nicely paced, and had enough twists and turns to send me up all the wrong garden paths. The book had some nail-bitingly creepy parts, and I admit to checking over my shoulder more than once.

The Woman Who Lied is an entertaining, immersive read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This was a really interesting concept that I enjoyed once I got into it. At first it took a bit to get used to the characters and who was narrating, once I had things figured out it got good!
I thought the story and the twists really came into its own and I couldn’t put it down once I got to the half way point.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this arc.

Secrets, lies, and murder lie at the heart of this book. Along with a healthy dose of easily sorted misunderstandings. But then that's life, isn't it!

Emilia is a novelist with a highly successful series based around a detective called Miranda Moody. Her tenth book is about to be released, and Emilia is making sure it will be the last in the series. Miranda has earned her a good life, but she just isn't feeling it anymore. But then she notices odd coincidences, things happening in her life that seem to mirror her novels. It becomes apparent that someone is copying the scenarios, each leading to the next book, inextricably leading to a very final and deadly conclusion.

Another Claire Douglas book where I thought I guessed, kind of did, but then dammit another pesky twist ruined my theory. Which is actually good, but I hate being wrong! But in all seriousness, this is a great read. Strong and realistic characters and a compelling plot made this a very enjoyable read.

Loved this book, it was an enjoyable read but was quite forgettable; I remember enjoying reading it but can't recall much about the premise or the characters.
