Legit dropped everything I was doing yesterday when I saw I was automatically approved for this! I’ve been dying to get Cal’s story since being introduced to him in The Protector and this did not disappoint.
4.5⭐️ for Cal and June!
~A former POW, Cal no longer enjoys the spotlight or any form of attention. When family asks for his help to protect a woman from a stalker, of course he drops everything to help. He didn’t expect to be attracted to what he thought was the help. June never thought she’d be in the position she’s in at 32 but here she is trying to make the best of her situation until she has the means to leave.~
I love how Cal never saw himself as anyone’s Prince Charming (even though he’s an actual prince) yet the second he meets June and learns some of her story, he’s willing to be anything for her. SWOON! 😍
I won’t lie, at first I was confused as to why June stayed with her “family” so long but putting myself in her shoes, I probably would have done the exact same thing. I love that she took a leap of faith and made moved to take back her life.
The ending scenes though.. 😭 My heart was beating out of my freaking chest!!
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review with my honest opinion.*

Thank you Netgalley for gifting me a copy of this book.
It was good. I loved the first 40% of the book, but then the next day, I just thought that the rest was too long and wanted to skip many parts that weren't interesting me. It could be because I was too impatient. Some aspects were also rather repetitive, which reinforced me wanting to skip some parts.
Otherwise, I still liked the book especially as some aspects were different from the usual elements we have in romances, such as Juniper and her discovery of the real world. I don't think I've read something like that before or at least I can't remember it.
I also wasn't a fan of the editing at the end. The last two parts are about the next book and I felt like they should have been separated from this story even if they are still a little linked.

As soon as I finished this book I went and bought the first one in the series and then added all of the authors other books to my list. I cried in some scenes because of how powerful they were. I was a little annoyed with how many times the main character brought up she's fat and then Prince Charming would just brush it off instead of assure her. I am already ready for book 3 and Bob/Marlowe romance and I can't wait to see if Cal and June have grown their family!

So you already know this is a modern day Cinderella story. But it’s so much more at the same time. Cal and June have both been trapped and afraid to move forward in life. They’re both scarred by their pasts, even if only one has visible proof of that. They just click from jump, and when Cal’s suspicions are confirmed, he gives June the opportunity she’s been waiting for, yet afraid to grab onto until now. And while they learn more about each other, they both fall. But can they work past the psychological scars and fears that remain from an ordeal? Or are they doomed to be temporary and nothing more?
This series is a bit of a departure from the author’s other works, but I must say that I definitely enjoy it. We have strong men unafraid to share their true emotions and fears. We have stronger women who can save themselves, or at least delay any true endgame until outside help arrives. And we have love that comes with communication and maturity. Since Bob was so adept at providing some advice and perspective here, I can’t wait to see what happens when his future is staring him in the face. Or what will blow up in it when his truths come out….

This is the retelling of Cinderella. Cal become a bodyguard for a woman who pretend to have a stalker just so she can trap Cal because of his title. When he come and sees a woman he become attracted to June their attraction been instantly but also their been low self esteem from the heroine as she been told she ugly and fat from her stepmother and step sister. She been abuse by them and manipulated and finding out what happen really happen to june father and what the stepmom and step sis what to do to June and she in danger.
A slow burn but the steam scene is 1 . Their is a story about crappy which I didn't know I'm going to read his book.
received an arc from netgaley for my honest reviewed.

This book was steamy, emotional, fun, and suspenseful! I need to get the first book in this series. Great experience reading Susan Stoker for the first time.
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the arc of this book.

This book is a winner! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with the characters as they came alive on the page. This a wonderful twist on a retelling of the classic Cinderella. Cal is the most unprincely prince ever - almost an antiprince, while June is the beaten down step looking for a way out of her miserable existence. When they meet, something sparks inside of them. However, like any true Cinderella, she has the evil stepmother and stepsister who won't take no for an answer.
Put this at the top of your must read list. The author is on my must read authors' list and, if I could give this book more than five stars, I would.

Another great addition to this series. We finally get the princes story. He was tortured while a pow because they found out he was a prince. But now he has his own company with the friends he was in captivity with. June was living in the house her father wanted her to have before he died, but her step-mother and step-sister were pains in her butt and treated her like crap. There's plenty of danger, deceit and manipulation. But Cal was bound and determined to make her his. There are life and death moments coming. HEA.
