Dr Anna Jones is a top heart surgeon. Her job is to save lives but now she must take a life in order to save the life of her son.

This book explores what we may or may not be capable of doing in order to save those we love. This book had complex characters and some very intense moments throughout.

I enjoyed the roller-coaster ride and would highly recommend this book.

This was different to the story lines I go for but I enjoyed it. Quite a dilemma for Anna to consider but she really has no choice.

Picked this book up to read at 10am and 4 hrs later it's finished (and I've achieved nothing else). Always loved Jack Jordan books and I think this is his best to date. I think i quite literally gasped at around 8% which doesn't happen very often. 5 stars all the way. Drama, intrigue and suspense all in a perfect storyline. Highly recommend this book.

Anna is a renowned cardiac surgeon. Her work is a very important part of her life, almost as important as her young son Zack. As she goes through a nasty divorce she tries her best to get by. The hospital tells her that a patient she is due to operate is MP Ahmed Shabir- expected to be next Prime Minister. It is top secret & the ward will be closed off. When Anna gets home her house is crawling with workmen. Her home is being fitted with surveillance devices & her son is missing. Unless Ahmed Shabir dies on her table she will never see her son again.

Margot is a theatre nurse. Due to her family & poor decisions she is forced to resort to theft to try & make ends meet.

DI Rachel Conaty investigates the death of Anna's neighbour Paula. Paula was Anna's neighbour & looked after Zack after school. Due to the loss of her son, she can't accept Anna's explanation of where Zack is- even if it threatens her career.

These three women narrate this totally engaging book. It kept me awake way into the night.

I was totally caught up in the horror of the no-win situation that top cardiothoracic surgeon Anna Jones finds herself in. This is a rip-roaring page-turner that swooped me up and didn’t let go. Anna is faced with an impossible choice, but the horror doesn’t end even once she’s been forced to choose. Instead, the tension continues to ramp up. Author Jack Jordan takes the reader on rollercoaster ride. Just as I thought things had reached a conclusion, he throws in another curve ball. You need to suspend belief a little, but after all, isn’t that what fiction is all about? A thoroughly gripping read for lovers of action-packed thrillers.

First, I want to thank Jack Jordan, Simon and Schuster and Compulsive Readers for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

OMG!!! Jack Jordan I must know where you got your inspiration for your totally addictive, twisted, emotionally and mentally charged Medical Thriller Do No Harm?! You will have me questioning next time I see a surgeon! Oh this book was pure genius and will have all of your readers talking!

You may want to clear your schedule for this one. Instantly from page one he hooked me into the story and by the time I looked up it was evening. It was just so good that I couldn’t put it down.

Jack Jordan did a phenomenal job with his descriptions and his eye for detail. He made you feel like you were right there with the character.

Do No Harm encorporated my love for all things medical, mystery, suspense, thriller, and a little emotional pulling on my heart strings.

Jack threw in a few curve balls that I didn’t see coming at all that totally surprised me.

Do no harm by Jack Jordan.
My son has been taken. And I’ve been given a choice…
Kill a patient on the operating table. Or never see him again.
I really enjoyed this book. What a twister of a read. Gripping. 5*.

This is a fast paced book - the action starts as soon as the book starts. A dilemma for Anna - does she agree to kill a prominent politician whilst performing heart surgery or does she stick to her oath of Do No Harm and allow her son Zack to be killed.

The book follows Anna's attempts to save her son whilst also providing the point of view of one of her nurses Margot and the detective on the case, Rachel. The other narraters have interesting back stories and it would have been nice to delve deeper in to those.

As an action thriller this book has everything and I would highly recommend it from that point of view but I would have liked a little more human element and to understand the people in the story a little more.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Jack Jordan's books are always page turners and this one was brilliant.

Cardiac surgeon Anna Jones is at the top of her game and about to carry out what should be a straight forward heart surgery on a secret VIP patient. All is planned until she arrives home to find armed men in her home and her son and his child minder neighbour missing.

Anna is then given the moral dilemma of kill the VIP during surgery or never see her son again. To make their point the body of the child minder is found and Anna then finds herself drawn into the middle of the police investigation of her murder. Up against the gangsters, the police, a corrupt colleague, an ex husband trying to see their son and the hospital will Anna ever see her son again?

Brilliant fast paced page turner. And yes some things are a 'no way, oh really' thought but that didn't stop the enjoyment at all.

Do No Harm is a highly awaited mystery thriller by Jack Jordan published by Simon & Schuster UK. In 2022, through Net Galley, I was fortunate to read an excerpt (the first chapter) of the novel. Having loved all his previous novels, I jumped at this opportunity, and reviewed the first chapter. Now I have been lucky enough to receive a widget on Net Galley through The Book Club Reviewer Request Group to read the whole novel.

His Novels Include:
Anything for Her (2015)
My Girl (2016)
Before Her Eyes (2018)
Night by Night (2019)
Do No Harm (2022)

Novellas
A Woman Scorned (2018)
This is my review of Do No Harm. (Full Novel)

Do No Harm sets the stage where a heart surgeon must choose to kill a patient on the operating table, or her kidnapped son will die.
Dr. Anna Jones, a cardiothoracic surgeon, in a few days will be performing one of the biggest operations of her career, for Ahmed Shabir, MP and future leader of the Labour Party. The kidnappers advise Anna that she must kill this patient on the operating table or lose her son forever. As a surgeon she has taken an oath to save lives…but as a mother she must do what she needs to do to save her child.
There is only one choice! What a dilemma!

The fast-paced plot is edgy, dark and unpredictable and highly recommended. Another winner! I really enjoyed this novel. I couldn’t put it down. Brilliant ending!

Many thanks to the author and The Book Club Reviewer Request Group (FB) and Netgalley for my digital copy.

Dr Jones the heart surgeon is about to operate on a secret patient, before this happens her son is kidnapped and she is ordered to kill the man who’s live she is meant to save, or she won’t see her son again. What follows is a story full of twists and turns, some of which are unbelievable, and had me thinking that it was unlikely to happen. Overall a good enjoyable read

What a read! This was gripping right from the start. I couldn't put the book down as I was eager to discover what had happened or what would happen. This was a really rare sort of book where I didn't really sympathise with or connect to the main characters, yet still wanted to know what was going to happen to them. I highly recommend it!

What a book! Honestly blown away by this, my first read from this author - I will definitely read more.
As a seasoned reader of psychological thrillers, I thought I’d read every twist and turn ‘in the book’ so to speak. However, I was most pleasantly surprised and impressed by this book, which kept me on the edge of the sofa at all times.
Highly recommended!

This is one of those books that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and reading through the night.

Initially I found it difficult to get into as the characters are deliciously unpleasant, however this soon turned into becoming entranced with the plot and becoming immersed.

Creepy and frustrating, a thoroughly enjoyable read.

MY CHILD HAS BEEN TAKEN.
AND I’VE BEEN GIVEN A CHOICE . . .
KILL A PATIENT ON THE OPERATING TABLE
OR LOSE MY SON FOREVER.
The man lies on the table in front of me.
As a surgeon, it’s my job to save him.
As a mother, I know I must kill him.
You might think that I’m a monster.
But there really is only one choice.
I must get away with murder.
Or I will never see my son again.

I’VE SAVED MANY LIVES.
WOULD YOU TRUST ME WITH YOURS.

Cardiac Surgeon Dr Anna Jones has been given the most impossible of moral dilemmas in this book. Kill a man during a routine bypass or your son dies. As the story unfolds, you are completely immersed in Anna world, along with the world's of the other characters.

I asked myself as I was reading this if I would do the same, and as a mother I would!!

It's not often a book has me on the edge of my seat as well filling me with complete anxiety but this one did! It's compelling, it's brutal and it's very clever.

I'd like to see a spin off book about Rachel Conaty, there's a story I'd like to read.

Thank you to The Book Club on Facebook for giving me the chance to read this book in return for my honest review.

Definitely a page-turner!

There are three POVs to help propel you through the story: A surgeon told she has no choice but to kill her patient, a colleague who wants to blackmail her, and a detective who sees something no one else can...

The book moves at such a pace that you are constantly on the edge of your seat. Saying that, having three POVs here mean you don't get quite as deep characterisation for each of them as you might if there were one character. It's fine, it works for the plot - but on a personal level I might've liked something deeper. Plus arguably two of the leads aren't very likeable. It all makes for a good read - but they weren't people I wanted to spend any longer with! I was constantly wishing they made better decisions. But then if book characters did exactly the same as their readers wanted, it wouldn't make for a very exciting read...

So I'm torn on a rating. Good plot, but I didn't always enjoy my time with the characters. 3.5, put down as a three here. (Please note that a 3 for me means I liked a book!)

Thanks to the Author, Netgalley and TBC for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book. Wow what a fantastic read. This book had me fascinated from the first to the last page. An absolute cracker of a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. This is going to be one huge hit for this author.

This was a really good read. From the first page you are embedded in the world of cardiac surgeon Anna and how difficult her job is. We are then transported to a murky underworld where her child is kidnapped and to get him back Anna must kill her VIP patient. If she doesn’t her son will die. Anna battles with what to do as her whole career is built on the premise of do no harm but how far will you go to ensure your child lives. The story has many twists and turns and some amazing and horrific characters. Very definitely one to read
