A cute, happy, fluffy tale. The premise was a bit ridiculous so found it hard to get into the book, but once I did, it was a fun read.

**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A Sharp, Sparkly Rom-Com with Heart, Humor, and a Dash of Revenge**
*The Sweetest Revenge* by Lizzy Dent is a lively blend of romantic misadventures, career redemption, and one woman’s messy, charming journey to reclaim her narrative. Think *Bridesmaids* chaos with *Emily in Paris* flair—only set in London and featuring a heroine you can’t help but root for.
Amy Duffy is delightfully flawed—a former rising star in TV production whose drunken revenge on her cheating boss-boyfriend landed her in career purgatory. Two years later, she’s trying to move on with a dead-end job and a sliver of self-respect. Enter Jake, her irresistibly sweet downstairs neighbor, and a new opportunity at work that could reignite her career. Of course, it all goes sideways when her smug ex shows up as her new boss.
Lizzy Dent has a gift for writing female leads who are chaotic but lovable, ambitious but vulnerable. Amy’s voice is sharp, funny, and self-aware, making her downward spirals feel relatable rather than cringey. The chemistry between Amy and Jake is slow-burn and satisfying, and their emotional arc is as compelling as their romantic one.
**Why it’s a solid 4-star read:**
* 💘 Great banter and believable romantic tension
* 🧨 A delicious revenge setup that doesn’t get too mean-spirited
* 🧠 Strong focus on career and personal growth alongside the romance
* 🏙️ Fun London setting and quirky side characters add charm
* 📺 Workplace dynamics that feel fresh and familiar at once
The only reason it doesn’t hit five stars? The pacing lags slightly in the middle, and a few plot turns feel a bit sitcom-y, but it’s all in good fun. If you're looking for a lighthearted, empowering rom-com with emotional payoff and just enough chaos to keep things spicy, *The Sweetest Revenge* delivers the goods.
Fans of Sophie Kinsella, Beth O’Leary, or Mhairi McFarlane will find plenty to love.

This author can just take all my money at this point ! I officially am a complete fangirl and will read anything they write in the foreseeable !
The author is a complete powerhouse and I couldn’t put this book down . It captivated me from the first page to the last . Thank you so much

The Sweetest Revenge delivers a fun mix of sass, romance, and a touch of payback. Lizzy Dent’s writing is witty and engaging, and the premise had great potential. While I enjoyed the humor and chemistry, some parts felt a bit predictable and the pacing lagged at times. A solid, entertaining read, just not quite unforgettable.

This book was cute and funny and overall I enjoyed the story. The setting was great too and a charming MMC. Thank you to Netgalley and G.P. Putnam's Sons for the ARC.

This book hit a lot of notes I love about British contemporary fiction! The Sweetest Revenge felt like a classic early 2000s romcom movie, I can't wait for more of Lizzy Dent's writing :)

3.5/5 stars! I admit I picked up this book just because of the cover. I found the premise to be exciting and the story drew me in from the very first page. This book had the weird setup, however, of having a MMC that is basically just a dude version of the FMC. This made their chemistry feel a little off to me. Amy is a flaming cheeto of a hot mess, but I loved this. It was so genuine and entertaining. My recommendation would be to add a little more spice because the romance didn't hit home. But the rest of the story was humorous and enjoyable.

ugh i wanted to like this one a lot, but it ended up falling a bit flat for me. Overall, it was fairly enjoyable and a quick read that had some lighthearted moments and a satisfying conclusion. A good pick for when you want something fun and light, but i feel like this is a book that I've read before.

I really wanted to love this book, but it fell a little flat for me. I love the authors' other works and was sad that this one wasn't as good as the rest.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

*The Sweetest Revenge* by Lizzy Dent is a fun and lighthearted novel about love, forgiveness, and second chances. The story follows a woman who embarks on a journey of self-discovery while dealing with the fallout from her past decisions. Dent’s writing is witty and engaging, making for an easy and entertaining read.
The protagonist is relatable, and I appreciated her growth as she navigates complicated relationships and strives to make things right. The plot has some great moments of humor, and there’s a nice balance between romance and personal growth. However, I found some parts of the story a bit predictable, and the romance didn’t have the emotional depth I was hoping for.
Overall, *The Sweetest Revenge* is an enjoyable, breezy read that offers some lighthearted moments and a satisfying conclusion. It’s a solid choice for fans of feel-good contemporary fiction, but it didn’t fully captivate me or stand out as a memorable read. A good pick for when you want something fun and light, but not particularly groundbreaking.

*The Sweetest Revenge* by Lizzy Dent is a wonderfully fun and relatable rom-com that effortlessly combines humour with a touch of heart. Amy Duffy is a character many of us can root for – she’s messy, charming, and undeniably flawed. After a career tanked by a regrettable act of revenge involving her ex’s Audi, she’s been trying to rebuild her life in London, with a somewhat unremarkable job in the world of TV production. But things start to look up when sparks fly with her new neighbour, Jake, and she begins to feel like she’s finally getting her life back on track.
The novel is a delightful blend of romance, workplace rivalry, and personal growth. Amy’s journey towards rediscovering her confidence, while navigating a complicated love life and career struggles, makes for an engaging and often laugh-out-loud story. Jake, the charming downstairs neighbour, adds a lovely romantic spark, and their chemistry is genuine and fun to watch unfold. At the same time, the return of her ex, who becomes her new boss, introduces the perfect amount of tension and drama – nothing like a little added complication to spice things up!
Dent's writing is sharp and witty, capturing the essence of modern-day London, as well as the trials and tribulations that come with rebuilding one's life after a setback. I particularly enjoyed how the book explored the idea of forgiveness – both of others and oneself – while balancing this with a refreshing sense of humour. The premise, though familiar, is executed with enough originality and warmth to keep the reader hooked.
The pacing is spot-on, and although I found some of the plot points a little predictable, the writing and Amy’s charm more than made up for it. There are moments of real depth amidst the comedy, and I loved how Amy’s past and present collided in such a hilarious and satisfying way.
Overall, *The Sweetest Revenge* is a light-hearted, enjoyable read with just the right mix of romance, humour, and heart. It’s a book that reminds you to embrace your imperfections and find joy in unexpected places. Perfect for fans of romantic comedies looking for something witty, relatable, and full of heart. Definitely a four-star read for me – fun, heartfelt, and a perfect escape!

I picked this up because of the cover and the blurb. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work for me although I can’t explain why. I am however willing to give the author another chance.

I really enjoyed this book! Every book I have read by Lizzy Dent has been fantastic and I find myself not wanting to put them down! A really fun read that I would recommend!

I want to thank the publisher, netgalley, and the author for the free copy of this book. Unfortunately this story just wasn’t for me but I will be trying books from this author again in the future.

This Lizzy Dent book was another hit. Amy cracked me up. I loved her delightfully awkward character! This book was a fun behind-the-scenes look at TV production in England.

Amy Duffy, a savvy TV development executive from New York, is gearing up for her cousin Ruth’s wedding when her boyfriend—and boss—Chris drops the dreaded words: "We need to talk." Anyone who's heard that sentence knows it’s never a precursor to good news.
Sure enough, Chris delivers a bombshell revelation, leaving Amy heartbroken and alone—at a bar instead of at the wedding where she was supposed to be the bridesmaid. After one too many shots, her night takes a disastrous turn. In a haze of alcohol, she has a cringe-worthy meltdown, and, to make matters worse, someone captures the whole humiliating moment on video and shares it with the world.
As if things weren’t already bad enough, nothing good ever follows a night fueled by that much alcohol.
Fleeing the fallout, Amy escapes to London, where her friend and former colleague, Maggie, helps her land a job. It’s far beneath her qualifications, but at least in the U.K., no one knows her shame. Or so she thinks.
Two years have passed since that fateful incident, and Amy has found her footing in a new role, working in a company where people love to gossip about a hit reality show, *Fantasy Island*, a chaotic competition of influencers and wannabe stars vying for the ultimate prize. Life is relatively calm… until a merger shakes everything up. To her horror, Chris is announced as the new interim boss, sending Amy’s carefully constructed world into a tailspin.
Devastated, she retreats to her flat, only to discover her new next-door neighbor is none other than Jake Jones, a former *Fantasy Island* contestant—and the man she’d picked in the office pool to win the show. Jake, having been eliminated in a spectacularly embarrassing way, is now seeking a place to live in anonymity. But fate has other plans. His packages keep getting delivered to Amy's door, and it’s not long before the two finally have their first real conversation—though it happens under decidedly awkward circumstances. Amy, once again overindulging in booze, manages to embarrass herself on their shared terrace.
It’s hardly the "meet-cute" of anyone’s dreams.
But, strangely, it’s just the kind of moment Jake needs. After his own very public humiliation, Amy’s self-deprecating vulnerability makes him feel less alone in his embarrassment. What starts as an awkward but genuine connection soon blossoms into a comforting friendship—a relationship that might just offer the sweetest kind of revenge: healing and moving forward together.

I enjoyed Lizzy Dent’s previous novel a bit more than this one, but this was still fun and great to read at the beach this summer! She writes relatable characters really well, and her novels have great covers!

The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent didn't disappoint. I loved everything about it. Thank to you NetGalley for the ARC!

This is the best Lizzy Dent book I've read so far! I liked Amy as a main character and thought it was interesting that it was set around the TV production world. I thought the romance was sweet and felt genuine.

This was my third Lizzy Dent book, and I am not very impressed. I selected this one because her other two books have been easy 4 star reads for me, but this one just fell short.
