Stop what you are doing and add this book to your ‘to buy list’
I have previously enjoyed two of @liz dents reads so I was really excited to start this, and it didn’t disappoint.
It’s such a light, sweet but funny read. You cannot read it and not fall in love with the main character Amy. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this read. Even the characters you’re not supposed to like, you sort of like to hate them.
I saw that the book was described as Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris, and I can confirm, that is the vibe that I got. Perfect summer read, but I’ve read it whilst on my lunch in the sunshine which has been nice.
So, overall, if you enjoyed Dents other books then this is for you but if you are new to this author, read it! You will love it!
Lizzy Dent is officially with 3/3 fantastic reads now on my ‘authors I will automatically buy books by’ list!

Amy is a hot-shot television guru in NYC, and she just happens to be dating her boss. That is, until he betrays her on the work front and ends up humiliating herself trying to extract revenge on him. Ashamed, Amy flees to London where she finds work making television trailers. She's happy enough, until she learns her company is merging with a US-based company and they're starting a development team. Amy is ecstatic until she realizes her ex has been brought in to head the division.
Unwilling to let history repeat itself, Amy ropes in her new, sexy neighbor Jake, into helping her write a script she can pitch to win a spot on the new team. As she gets to know him, she realizes they may have more in common than she originally thought.
The Sweetest Revenge is a quick-witted rom-com with relatable characters and a fast-moving plot. I loved how flawed of a character both Amy and Jake were, and how they both made mistakes that were something I could see myself doing (well, not all of them). The tie-in with both Amy and Jake's families also drew me into the plot.
The only thing that took me out of the book was (and this is my thing, not sure how many would notice) was that some of the things Amy and her family (American) said were put in a very British way. This makes sense because the author is British, but it did make me look twice.
It was a super cute book that I'd recommend to anyone who loves an international rom-com!

At the beginning of The Sweetest Revenge, we meet Amy and her boyfriend Christ, right on the eve of disaster. While Amy's personal life is cringe inducing, Dent's writing is still fun and engaging. After her breakup, Amy moves to London for a change of pace and we meet the MMC, Jake, her neighbor.
I found Amy to be an entertaining if slightly-less-than-believable MC. She does make some questionable third act decisions which made it hard to root for her but at least fleshed her out a bit. I think there could have been a bit more build up to the romance between Jake and Amy but in the end, I found their story sweet and compelling.
I took this on vacation with me and it was the perfect vacation book. I'm prone to crying in the sad leadup of a romance but this one didn't induce tears and I'm glad it's what I loaded to my e-reader for this trip.
Readers of Emily Henry and contemporary romance will enjoy this offering; it's the perfect summer release.

DNF at 20% - I usually love a story like this but its not pulling me in for some reason. There is nothing really wrong with the book or the writing, just wasn't for me.

This was so sweet and seriously funny. I never knew public humiliation could lead to such a charming romance.

This is my third book of Lizzy Dent's that I've read and I can say I did enjoy it but i prefer her first two more. This follows the main character Amy , who lives in London after going viral back in New York, competing for a new job promotion at her work with her new neighbour Jake. Unfortunately, her ex has come back to haunt her!
I really liked reading Amy and Jake's feelings growing for eachother throughout this book and thought some parts of this book were really funny! For me, I just didn't really like the main character Amy all that much. I could tell from the start that she would end up doing to Jake what her ex did to her, which was passing off someone else's idea as their own. This was done unintentionally on her behalf but I just felt like her character had some selfish moments which annoyed me a little bit! Overall though, I did enjoy reading this book and liked it but LOVED her other books.

I read this book based on falling in love with Lizzy Dent's previous novel 'The Setup.'
I zoomed through this book and finished it in a few hours - an easy, light and fun read.
I didn't enjoy it as much as 'The Setup' because it was a slightly more cliche/unoriginal plot idea but it was still a riotous read.
I will definitely be looking out for future books by Lizzy Dent.

This book is her best yet, and I loved the setup and it was my book of 2022.
I was hooked from the first chapter, unable to put it down because I just had to find out what would happen next.
Lizzy Dent has a way of writing brilliant stories dosed with a healthy size of emotion and humour and they're always the best ones to read.
The characters always have flaws and I love that she makes them so normal instead of impractical.

This one was such a fun read! I really enjoyed the chaos that was Amy because let’s be honest she is a bit of a mess!
We meet Amy and shortly after she is dumped by her boyfriend who also happens to be her boss at the time who then rejects her hard work and this 100% was recipe for her losing her shit, which she did so well it ended up on the internet…
Then we fast forward 2 years to when Amy has left America and is working overseas and starts to have a thing for someone who lives in her building but ultimately starts working with because she definitely has a thing for workplace romances and can’t seem to help herself. But lucky for her he has his own embarrassing event that recently happened to him when he was on a reality show so he knows a thing or two about public embarrassment too!
I appreciated the slow burn and following Amy on the journey of falling in love and working with Jake and the complications when her Ex is now working at her new job after a merger and her superior yet again with decisions about her work and Jake’s in his hands.
Thanks so much to GP Putnam’s Sons for my ARC of this one in exchange for my honest review!

This was such a funny/cute read I was not expecting to love this as much as I did but I’m so thankful for this ARC - definitely going to be reading more of Lizzys books! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommended

To put it super simply:
Girl gets dumped.
Girl has embarrassing reaction.
Girl runs away.
Girl meets boy also running from something.
Girl + boy team up.
Drama drama
Girl gets revenge.
HEA
I didn’t dislike this book but I didn’t love it. It gets a 3.5 stars from me.
Hated Chris but hated how Amy acted and reacted to him more (except at the end). So many moments where I wanted to scream “girl stand up!” I don’t really like the idea of the girl giving so much power away to the guy and it affecting literally every area of her life and she’s barely able to function, loses herself, blah blah you get it. But the revenge at the end was *chefs kiss*.
I loved Jake. And didn’t mind the relationship/bond between Amy and Jake. You could see it coming but the buildup and tension was there. The end did feel a bit rushed but I expected that too. This wasn’t a story about their ending it was their journey to get there but I did want to see more of their relationship because that’s what kept pulling me in.
Overall, this wasn’t a book I just couldn’t put down but it also wasn’t one that I was going to DNF. 3.5 stars feels appropriate.
Thank you NetGalley for the Arc!

The cover of this book is what initially drew me in. The first few chapters are what locked me in. Although this ended up being more of a self discovery story than romance. I enjoyed it. Overall a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the E-ARC
All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.

A real feel good story - you can see where it is going to go from the beginning however it doesn’t make it any less entertaining. Would definitely recommend

Sweet, slow-burn story focusing on moving on and forgiving yourself. For being such a closed door story I was a little surprised at the language used as it didn't seem to fit the characters or plot. I liked Amy & Jake working together on the tv show brief and their walks around London getting to know each other. Of course the miscommunication trope was used which is one of my least favorites. All in all a quick enjoyable story.

3.5. This was a fun time. It wasn't the best romance book I've ever read but I quite liked the main character and the surrounding cast of characters.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons, & the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This book was so much fun! I love Lizzys writing and will continue to devour her books. The characters in this book are well developed and carved out, the dialogue and storyline is so good! This book is one for those that are not a fan of the spice. It was the perfect little romcom with level 1 spice :).
I enjoyed watching Amy and Jakes relationship develop slowly. I had the giggles through this book, it made me smile and gave me all the fun feels a good romcom should. I recommend this book honestly to everybody who loves a fun light romcom. So perfect for summer!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Amy had a bad breakup, then ends up going viral in and embarrassing drunken situation. She leaves for London to start a new job, and try to hide from the embarrassment.
Jake is her new coworker/neighbor. He was on a reality show and is also getting over an embarrassing situation. They learn to work together, and fall together.
I thought Amy and Jake were fantastic characters! They had great chemistry and banter! This was a slow burn, and it was perfect! I really enjoyed reading this book and loved the twists and turns! Such a great funny, sweet, and lighthearted romance! The perfect summer read!

The Sweetest Revenge
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Any woman that gets revenge on an ex by drunkenly pissing on his expensive car has won me over in an instant. Amy was absolutely hilarious as a character and I loved the way she tried to balance her professional life with this disaster revenge story looming over her. I also despised Chris, her ex, because he was a complete arsehole and deserved a whole lot worse than a piss-soaked Audi in my opinion..
I loved the TV production setting of this story as it’s not something I’ve seen too much of in romance books. It wasn’t overly technical in terms of the workings of a production company, so was easy to follow.
I loved the romantic interest between Amy and her new neighbour, Jake. He was a complete babe and I loved watching them become closer, whilst the complications of Amy’s new boss being her ex (IMAGINE) make for a very mortifying and hilarious story.
I enjoyed the Amy and Jake scenes a lot, and I liked Amy’s ambition with her career. One thing I was really hoping for with this book was some more 🌶️spice🌶️ - there were one or two very mildly steamy scenes but I wanted that bath scene to be much more crude, if you know you know 👀
Hanging out with Lizzy on Saturday night again gave me such joy, and you can really see her incredible personality and hilarious antics shine through in her writing.
Thank you so much to @instabooktours and @lizzy.dent for this gorgeous US paperback, and especially to Lizzy for giving me the other two books to finish off the set!!
The Sweetest Revenge is released in the UK on July 25th!

After having met Lizzy Dent at a book talk with Lindsey Kelk in Liverpool last year, where my jaw hurt from laughing so much, I had already added this to my TBR list and was lucky to receive an advanced readers copy.
Amy Duffy is striving to progress her career as a TV producer in New York and believes her big break is just around the corner, however she doesn’t anticipate her boss, who is also her current boyfriend, completely pulling the rug from under her feet and taking away her dreams by pulling the plug on her latest submission. Cue a drunken evening of revenge and humiliation resulting in a move across the ocean to London. Two years later and Amy’s career is looking up again and a chance encounter with her new, very attractive neighbour, opens up even more opportunities. But will she be able to put her past demons behind her when a surprise visitor turns up threatening to ruin everything?
First up, if you don’t laugh at this book then you need to get someone to check your sense of humour, there are some serious laugh-out-loud moments and just pure giddiness guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The authors writing style is warm, bubbly and jovial and allows you to connect well with the characters. It’s a rom-com that yes, may have that predictability, but it still keeps you rooting for them the whole way through and keeps those pages turning. Also loved the mention of a certain North Wales location that isn’t a million miles away, thank you Lizzy for bringing an area in Wales to the limelight! A great summer read that will have you laughing you way through.

Thank you to Netgalley for this free preview in exchange for an honest opinion. I did not love this book. I found the main character rather unlikable. She is foulmouthed, impulsive, short sighted, immature, and may have a drinking problem. She is surrounded and supported by lovely people but she doesn't seem like a good friend or girlfriend or daughter even. I appreciated the English and Wales locations and descriptions though.
