Lauren and Mason were young sweethearts but couldnt handle life getting in the way so Mason drove off into the sunset. Now years later he is back and fighting for a consultant position and Lauren finds herself on the board of apointee's.

I liked the way they both danced around each other which mirrored more true life. As a couple they worked and this made the book a really enjoyable read

I loved that the book was a will they, won’t they kind of storyline that had me hooked

The words flowed really well in the book and it was a lovely story that was easy to read and it didn’t have a complicated storyline

I really enjoyed this book. Such a strong - to the point of stubborn- female lead. Lauren cares for her brother, for her patients and for her old flame even if she can’t quite say it. Some good medical interventions that add to the story and don’t overwhelm and a small supporting cast that highlight how great our couple is.

Sorry but this was a disappointment for me. I liked the premise of second chance love but I really disliked the heroine. She was cold, self involved, insensitive and did not engage my sympathy or my interest.

From the outset, Lauren was cold, rude and unreasonable; behaving more like an adolescent than a mature, professional doctor. She treated Mason as if he was the one who’d broken them up and abandoned her. Her cold, pompous treatment of Mason really annoyed me. At every opportunity she rejected Mason and worst of all, I just didn’t believe her reasoning. I really couldn’t buy into her pathetic excuses for ruling out love and relationships. It was as if she firmly believed no successful doctor could risk having a partner.

We’re supposed to believe that the loss of her mother made her so reluctant to risk love and losing someone again that she broke up with her boyfriend and sent him off. Sorry, the author didn’t convince me of Lauren’s motivation not that there was any real chemistry between them. The ‘black moment’ made no sense at all.

I am sorry to be so critical but I’ve read this author before and I know she can write engaging romances. I just didn’t enjoy this one at all.

A passionate and emotionally fulfilling second chance medical romance set in Auckland, New Zealand. From the first pages, it's clear that Lauren and Mason have a history that needs retelling. Told from both the protagonists' viewpoints, the reader soon realises they love each other even if they don't. Their emotional commitment is there from the start, even though they deny their true feelings. The physical attraction is undeniable, but have they changed enough to make it work this time?
I like the characters, the chemistry and the final twist.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
