I'm not going to hark on about my love for Jenny Colgan because if you've paid any attention to my previous reviews - you'll know that I ADORE her. So when I saw that her next release was available to review on NetGalley I was crossing all of my fingers in the hope that I'd be approved... And I was!

It was strange but lovely to be reading a stand alone novel of Jenny's after following the lives of those on Mure and Kirrinfief for so long but the story of Morag and her family in the highest reaches of Scotland still felt like home to me.

Following in the footsteps of my Father and Grandad, Morag is a pilot. But she long ago decided that the little runner plane that was used by locals to island hop wasn't enough for her. After an incident that's left her more than a little bit shaken, she's struggling to get back in the cockpit but thanks to the safe and dependable Hayden, things are looking up for her. But as her Grandad comes down ill with the flu, she's called back to her home town to navigate their plane, Dolly, across the islands. When storm brings the plane to an emergency landing on one of the most remote islands, Morag becomes an unexpected visitor for Gregor - a Glaswegian ornithologist until the weather steadies and she can fix her plane.

This was a delightful story of finding your way and facing your demons. Another gem from Jenny and it was lovely to find myself back in the Scottish Highlands.

Thoroughly enjoyed this calming book with such breathtaking descriptions of Scotland's most remote locations and how island life is both hard work and incredibly rewarding.
There's a lot of character development and wonderful cameos (including a goat, my personal favourite!)
I enjoyed every page of it

I loved this new offering from Jenny Colgan. Keeping with her theme of being set in the Scottish Isles, this book did not disappoint.
Morag is a pilot who has had a terrible experience while doing her job. As she tries to put her life back together, she finds herself taken back to the Scottish isles that she knows and loves but didn't plan to return to living in.
As things take a dramatic turn due to a storm, will being cut off in a remote island help her to reset her life and rediscover what is important??

A fabulous book, with excellent imagery. absolutely loved it.

Compassion And Heart..
A career changing accident, a family illness and a change of pace back to the Scottish Highlands. When Morag returns to her homeland her life takes a dramatic turn but will it be for the better or for the worse? A warm hearted romance with a real sense of heart, compassion and community spirit and a tale populated with a deftly drawn cast in a beautiful and well crafted setting,

This was a warm book with some real issues at heart featuring Morag who comes (mostly) from a family of pilots who have their own small plane and route covering a chain of Scottish isles. Morag wanted to go her own way in life so chose to fly for a main airline rather than for the family business but a recent incident left her frightened of getting back at the controls however when her grandfather falls ill she has no choice but to help him out and get back in the air.

This is told in two parts, the first of which really sets up the story and is very informative about flying, Morag’s situation and the Scottish setting but for me there was too much info and not enough story and it took until part two for me to engage more with it. I liked how being stuck on an island impacted Morag and made her think more about her priorities but must confess I found reclusive Gregor a far more tolerable character than Morag! I did enjoy the unusual storyline and the beautiful setting, it’s an easy going read and will no doubt be much enjoyed by other Jenny Colgan fans.

This book had a good underpinning story and characters but I found it hard to be involved in some of the more technical aspects of flight which I’m sure other readers would love. For this reason, I really had to persevere with the first few chapters of the book and probably would not have done so had Jenny Colgan not been one of my favourite authors. Once the personal aspects of the storyline got under way I enjoyed the book as expected.

I love this authors books and this one was slightly different than her usual stories and also offered so much more than just a romantic read as it offered up a lot of difficult topics and took us on a journey of discovery for main character Morag and how she had to overcome trauma and difficulties to find herself again and to find what she wanted out of life

It started off slow paced and then picked up as the story unfolded. Loved the descriptive writing of the surroundings of Scotland and of nature and the things we normally let pass us by.

Would love a sequel to this to show how the characters journey continues.

A lovely story about Morag, who is the lead character in this novel, her character was well drawn. Jenny Colgan is such a good author and tells a tale like no other. Her style is unique in my opinion. I really enjoyed the book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the novel.
