I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

It's very hard to review poetry as they are pieces of the poet's soul.

I found the poem to be well written pieces that give us glimpses of the authors world as he was experiencing it at the moment. Of course, I enjoyed some much more than others as should be the case with so many to choose from. I think letting go is my favorite, short but brings back memories of forcing myself to dance even though none of my friends wanted to.

'I'm wild' is a compilation of poems by Magic Moments. I wasn't familiar with him prior to reading this book, but I have to say, I am really impressed with his talent.

Some poems are lighthearted, while others are brutally honest. You walk in the poet's shoes as he grows, as he learns, as he loves, as he hurts… It's breathtaking. I really enjoyed it.

I’m Wild by Magic Moments caught my attention because of the cover. The person on it looked so happy and free. Throughout the collection of poems we grow and learn with the author. We start off as an adolescent and grow into the years of early adulthood. They discuss friends, family, belonging, escaping, loving and happiness.

This was a well written collection of poems and a very relatable one for myself. Several of the poems I found myself sitting and reflecting on my own life and experiences as I made my way though the collection.

A poem that I sat with the most was about being fifteen. It took me back to my teen years and opened memories i hadn’t thought of in over a decade. It made me think of happy times and sad times.

Another one that made me reflect heavily on my past and present experiences was Temporarily. One of the lines that hit me right in the feels was
“Like leftovers on the counter
I am ready to be enjoyed now”

I did feel it was quite long for my liking. I prefer my poetry collections to be around 200/300 pages. This one sits at 417 pages. This is a purely personal preference.

Really enjoyed the poems. Some resonated more than others but they were all honest which is what struck me the most. A book I will continue to dip in and out of

I'm Wild was a freeing debut covering adolescence and adulthood; and all of the excitement, wonder, and troubles that come with growing.

Loss, happiness, confusion, and freedom were all explored throughout this casual collection of poetry.

I enjoyed the way the poems were sectioned and arranged. I enjoyed the variety of lengths and styles of each poem - it kept it interesting!

A few of my favorites listed as they appear are as follows:
-Made to Be Loved
-I'm Waiting
-Fifteen
-Africa
-The Other Half
-Lonely Towns
-You Can Ride With Me
-The Future
-Brave
-Don't Wager Your Youth
-Staying Up Late
-Enlightenment
Pieces

I do wish it was a tad shorter in length as a whole - it felt quite long! But that is likely a personal preference.

A beautiful collection of poems through the stages of adolescence and older. Capturing reflection, growth, dreams, and more.

Thank you NetGalley and Jordan O’Neill for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Well! A beautifully penned poem with rich words. I was lost in to the poetry world. Every poem has unique qualities of topics being welcomed throughout the book. A variety of themes been present here. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Author has vivid mind and pulls through the whole process.

All these poems were super interesting! A lot of them had to do with adolescence, growing up, and the struggles of finding yourself. The poems were all of different lengths. Some were 4 lines and others were several pages long. But overall, each poem had a nice sentiment or message to convey :)

This collection consists of many sections which chronologically progress through the poet's adolescence and early adulthood. The conversational, casual style of free verse spans from the infectious, repetitive rhythms of slam poetry all the way to lines that feel more like a random thought more likely to be seen in a pensive tweet.

The early (teenage) chapters caused me to remember vividly how it felt to wrestle with the explosive emotions of adolescence and the sense that no one understands the complexity of existence that you're just discovering. I'd recommend these poems to young people, or to folks who are trying to remember these days in order to relate better to the Gen Z and teens in their lives.

A couple lines I enjoyed from a poem titled THE CLASS OF 20XX:
"...We are the class of 20XX
We can see the error of your ways
...Poets hoped we would come
And now we're here"

The middle sections felt like the poet's progression into early adulthood, with musings about one's purpose and place in the adult world along with the evolution of thoughts on love, society, self, and happiness. At times, these poems stuck me as poignant, relatable, and bittersweet; at other times, they strongly reminded me of the times I have listened to a drunk guy at the party extolling his disjointed and manifold rants about life (the kind of conversation that can only be enjoyed when one is equally intoxicated).

As a person strongly drawn to playfulness, wildness, and simple joys, I saw those parts of myself joyfully reflected in much of this anthology; however, I would advise the reader to approach with an open mind so as not to feel cynical about the youthful exuberance of the collection.

Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read this poetry.
I am so impressed with this book! It is hard to believe that the words match the age. The depth of his prose and visual words seem so mature and touching.

Through the narrative of the author's life, I'm Wild tackles themes of family, friendship, belonging, escape, finding your place in the world and facing the world as it is without losing the thread of choosing hope and love and happiness.

The author creates vivid imagery and pulls you into their world and yet, the poetry is accessible and the words are simple so that anyone could pick up this book and enjoy it.

The collection is separated in sections (my favourites are I'M LEAVING and I'M MAGIC) which makes it easy to navigate.

Thank you NetGalley and Magic Moments for the opportunity to read this ARC.

And this is my day
