Nora Roberts writes the best romantic suspense and Identity is no exception. Strong, vibrant characters (a delicious hero and an adorable dog called Howl) and seamless writing made this a one sitting read for me.

Bartender Morgan is working hard and settling into a life - two jobs, a little house, a nice roommate. She meets Luke at the bar and some casual flirting signals the beginning of a possibility. However when she finds Nina murdered Morgan's life crashes around her. Even worse when the FBI tell her that Luke is a serial killer who was actually intending to kill her. Instead he steals her identity and becomes obsessed with her - the one woman who got away.

This is classic Nora Roberts territory. Small town America, characters who work hard (but always seem to have time to do everything else as well), easy romances and that strange type of dialogue that's not real. I've read a lot of Nora Roberts and I read them because they're easy to read and mildly entertaining (some more than others).

A gripping new novel from Nora Roberts as Morgan Albright attracts the attention of a psychopathic conman who steals the identity of his victims before taking out loans using their assets as collateral before murdering them. With Morgan though he kills the wrong woman, attacking her friend and roommate instead. Broke Morgan moves home to rebuild her life, but the killer can’t get her out of his mind. He starts spiralling and soon blames her as the one who got away as being the root of his sudden stream of misfortune and determines she must die!

There was a steady flow to this book. Yes, you know right from the beginning who the killer is but Identity isn’t a whodunnit. It’s romantic suspense at its finest as Morgan rebuilds her life all the while knowing that she’ll never really be free until the killer is caught. The romance element of this book was definitely of the slowburn variety and I loved the development of their story as Morgan and Miles became friends before taking the next step to lovers. Another highlight was Morgan’s relationship with her mother and grandmother or her ladies as she called them. Each interaction was beautifully written and the love between the three generations more than apparent. I loved the small town mountain setting of Westridge, Vermont and, as I’ve come to expect from this author there was a lot of detail to the backgrounds she placed her characters in and her words were so vivid I could picture this book play out in my minds eye as I read? With a great cast of secondary characters who added depth to the story, I’m more than happy to recommend Identity to any fans of romantic suspense

This was a great read and a story with a unique twists. Morgan meets a new guy and he seems great. What happens next sends her running home to live with her mother and Grandmother.
Building her life again means meeting new friends and someone who could change her life. The past is always there waiting to re-emerge.
I loved the characters as they were so relatable and realistic. All had flaws in their personalities but were inherently likeable and you were rooting for Morgan to come out on top.

5 stars
For someone who has written so many books, a Nora Roberts novel still does an incredible job of keeping me on my toes, shocking me and wringing all the emotions out of me.
It’s essentially everything I want in a book, along with her trusted stellar writing, plot and characters.
Roberts did a great job of making Morgan both resilient and vulnerable at the same time. No “too stupid to live” heroine here. She was likeable, admirable and relatable. Miles was a great fit for her and the romance was well crafted and believable.
The rest of the Jameson family were very interesting. I hope this is going to be book one in a series and we get to know more about Miles’ siblings. I love that Jake set his mind to marrying Nell when they were kids, and I want to see what happens there.
Some may find there’s too much home improvement and cooking in this one, but being a fan of both, I enjoyed it

Firstly I absolutely love Nora Roberts and have read all her books. They have all been fantastic and Identity is no exception. I loved the main character, Morgan, she is a woman with a plan on how she wants her life to be and works hard to achieve it. When something happens that derails her plans she has to change her life completely. While reading Identity I kept thinking I knew where the plot was going but then there was another twist or turn that threw me off guard and kept me on my toes. I flew through the pages as it was totally unputdownable and I highly recommend it.

A topical issue covered with originality and Nora Roberts unique brand of tantalising suspense. The strong female relationships between the Morgan, her Mother, and Grandmother are a central theme. Felt very contemporary choosing hacking as the means of supporting the criminal spree. I loved Morgan's job as an exciting mixicologist. The gradual build up of tension kept one totally addicted to the storyline

This book is all about waiting. waiting for the killer to arrive, waiting on customers in the hospitality industry! (I'll get my coat!)

Morgan is a young woman re-building her life after a friends murder and subsequent identity theft. with devastating consequences for her. She ends up with her mother and grandmother, and the FBI are on the hunt for the killer of her friend.

In some ways this book is a romantic, suspense, murder and police procedural book all rolled into one. My only problem is that it developed into a bit of a 'chicklit.' Morgan can seem to do no wrong at work, falls in love etc. etc.
There was more excitement in following this killer's travels around America!

With a predictable ending I cannot give the book five stars. Saying that, I enjoyed it. I loved 'Howl'

Tense, scary and had me on the edge of my seat. This is a book you have to keep reading “just one more chapter” which is always the sign of a great book for me. If you’re looking for the perfect book to get immersed in and forget real life for a while this is the book fir you.

Having read more than a couple of Nora Roberts' stand-alone novels I had an idea of what I would be getting into reading this and I wasn't far wrong! It is a beautiful piece of writing that takes us as the readers through an enormous range of emotions right up to the very last pages.
It is quite fast paced and there are a few different voices telling this story which did mean I binged my way through this, not putting it down for very long at all! As I was getting into the last act of the book I was actually getting concerned at how this would all play out, there seemed so much left still to happen and yet there was so little book left but I should have known from previous experience that it would all work itself out how it had been set up to.
This is a skilfully written story that knits a thriller alongside a romance in such a way that both work and need each other in a way to make each side of the tale get to where it needed to be but without detriment to either one. The characters, like the settings, are vibrant and well constructed with lots of different personalities all harmonising to create a truly beautiful story.
Each time I read a new Nora Roberts book I think I have found my favourite, until the next one is published and this is no different, it is an incredible work of fiction and now my new favourite!

Wow Nora Roberts has done it again and it was definitely worth the wait and her new & brilliant book, Identity, doesn’t fail to please. It followsMorgan who becomes a victim of identity theft from a charming young man, he takes everything from her and she has to go back to live with her Mum & Grandmother, but the story is only just beginning. I found that there was nothing within that I disliked, all the characters were well written and even though it’s not the fastest paced book, it didn’t matter, because I liked reading about Morgan mixing drinks, doing the garden and the dynamics of Miles & his family, it all helped build up the suspense. I was quite sad when I finished it. I can’t wait till her next book.

Nora Roberts never disappoints. That's not something you can often say about even your most favorite of authors. But Nora? Always a hit.

Identity was such a lovely read. The story flowed gorgeously (like the gorgeous gardens inside).

I got so wrapped up in the bartending that I got worried if I couldn't picture any drink just right in my mind! Then I'd tell myself to snap out of it! Noone's asking me to make the drinks! But I just loved how hardworking and efficient Morgan was behind the bar.

I loved that Morgan was not a woe-is-me damsel in distress. She took those hits like a champ most of the time. And she took help when she needed it. She was admirable in every way.

Miles was so lovely. I loved how grumpy he was. It fit him so well. His family dynamic was also heart-warming.

Morgan's ladies and Howl were arguably the best parts of the book (ok no, Morgan and Miles were but still!)

I probably say this at the end of every Nora Roberts book, but I absolutely loved this book, it's gone straight onto my list of favourite books!

I just loved all the characters, both the Nash and Jameson families were ones you wanted to be a part of too, and the element of suspense running through the book, even in all the good times, was just perfect.

Morgan has her life together, she's bought her own house, is slowly saving to buy her own bar and do up her house, she has a lodger/friend, Nina, who helps with the bills, and her life is organised and on track - until she meets serial killer Luke and her whole life changes. She reluctantly ends up living back with her mother and grandmother in the family home in Vermont, and gets a job at a nearby resort. There she meets the Jameson family who own the resort, and in particular Miles.

The story is about overcoming unthinkable tragedy and coming out the other side stronger, albeit with a lot of grief along the way. Morgan was such a strong character though and ovecomes the grief by working through it and forging a new, and much better, life for herself. There was just the 'little' problem of being stalked by a serial killer who you knew was going to come for her at some point or another!

This book was just a perfect mix of suspense, romance, family and resiliance, it was funny in parts, sad in others, sitting on the of your seat with the suspense in others, but ultimately such a lovely read about really close families and friends who pulled together in hard times - and it had a wonderful dog, Howl, what more could you ask for?!

Really wonderful ending too, where everything turned out just as it should. One of those books that I didn't want to put down until I'd finished it, but then was really sad that I had finished it. Just perfect!

I thought that this was an excellent read!

It was one of the best books I have read for a long time

All credit to Nora Roberts for making this a book that I couldn’t put down.

I've been reading g Nora Roberts books for 2o uears and they never disappojt so I was excited to get stuck in.

As per usual, it's a cleverly written and well paced book. The characters are so established and humanised and the plot keels moving forward.

The plot itsself is unique and well plotted out. There's so much more to this than just a suspense/thriller. It's also the story of heartbreak, romance, drama, resilience, survival and more. It absolutely checks all the boxes but still keeps that edge of not knowing what's going to happen and keeping the reader on the edge of their seat

Highly recommend

It’s always a treat to start reading a new Nora Roberts book, as you know you are going to get a well crafted plot, great characters and a really good read. This is no exception. Morgan Albrights life is turned upside down when her room mate Nina is murdered, and she finds herself the victim of identity theft by Luke, a man she let into their lives. Broken, she goes home to family in Vermont, to try to pick up the pieces of her life, but Luke hasn’t finished with her.

A nicely paced read, very well researched - I want to try some of the cocktails described - and a good plot. Identity theft is devastating for the victim, add in murder of a close friend and it’s no wonder Morgan is struggling to put her life back together. The tension builds nicely, with the killer obsessing over the fact that Morgan is the one who got away, blaming her for the things that start to go wrong in his life. Add in the sexual tension between Morgan and Miles, and you have a really good thriller that makes you want to savour every page.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The sordid world of identity theft mixed with a serial killer makes a real page turning thriller!
The ongoing negative effects of someone having there identity stolen is horrendous for all involved and this book really brings this to the forefront early on in the book.
Morgan is a hard working woman whose life is drastically altered after identity theft and the devastating circumstances that follow. The book follows her move back to her family to re start her life unaware that that she is seen as unfinished business by a psychotic killer on the loose.
It’s actually been awhile since I read a Nora Roberts book but this novel has re kindled by interest and I have already eyed up a couple to read.

On Nora...I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I always do when Nora writes a new book!.
Morgan's story is tense and sad, but also so full of life and hope as she tries to rebuild her life after she meets a handsome man while she's bar tending and invites him into her home to have dinner with her and her friends. Nina is her housemate and Sam is her boyfriend. He seems the perfect fit in her life. Then her life changes as Nina is murdered and she finds loans and credit cards taken out in her name. She can't keep up all the payments and has to sell her beloved house and move back home with her tail between her legs thinking life is over. But she has a strong personality. If she's knocked down, she'll get right back up again. h
Meanwhile, her scammer isn't happy. Although he had a kill in Nina, she wasn't the one he wanted, he didn't finish the job. He scams but kills too. He still has to complete what he started and Morgan is the one who got away...

An incredible story of heartbreak and resilience, strength, and love that starts with an absolutely devastating death of Nina, Morgan's best friend, by a man she thought she knew. A serial killer targeted her and took everything from her. With no other choice, she settles what she can and moves in with her mother and grandma. Starting over is going to be hard work, but with a killer on the loose with a vendetta against her, it's almost impossible. But when love comes along, she can't help herself. No matter the cost, she refuses to stop living and loving and prepares in every way for the day Gavin will be back for her, this time she may not be so lucky.
