I have a huge love for the M&B True Love line and can never resist a new-to-me-author, so when this one I saw this book I just had to read it despite being on the verge of being buried alive under my own tbr and I am so pleased that I did,

I really liked the relationship between Marcus and Lucy, they are both so driven and work-focused, both trying so hard to keep their feelings for each other at bay, the chemistry is intense especially the more they learn about each other and the fact that they are stuck on Fiji together, but I got the feeling there is a lot of vulnerabilities there too.

Lucy is a lovely young woman, though I don't understand why she has to keep the fact that she is a single mother such a secret, Why? Yes, I understand that she wants a good job, but hey Lucy you're a mother, your not a free singleton anymore, you have responsibilities!!

Grow up!

Rant over, sorry about that!

Apart from that singular issue, I did like it, I loved the setting, and I instantly got a sense that I was right there in beautiful Fiji and I loved the journey the characters went on dealing with their own issues as well as fighting their attraction for each other..

Overall, a warm and tenderly written love story, full of emotion and endearing romance.

Lucy was a teenage mum and ever since she has been trying to overcome people's negative opinions of her. Having worked hard and finishing Uni she is now in her dream job, but with it comes an unwanted attraction to her boss.
When a work perk is a first class trip to Fiji, Lucy finds herself no longer wanting to fight the attraction.

This was a really sweet read and I really liked Lucy as a character

Enjoyable read with likeable characters who make you feel for them and want them to get together. The plot is well paced and the chemistry between the two main protagonists oozes off the page.

A happy and heartwarming read, I love a book that’s light and joyful, yes they may not always be realistic, but I won’t get to escape reality if they were andi want unrealistic if it lets me be happy for a whole book. This does that and more

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Strong, brave and resourceful female lead in Lucy who is approachable and come across very real. The struggles, juggles and wanting to fit in are all relatable and make the book a great read. Some fabulous backdrops and natural descriptions along with a gentle romance.

I liked it because it had a story to it and it wasn’t just a bonkbuster. I liked the characters and the character development. This book was a joy to read. The Fiji descriptions were of paradise. It was good I could almost see the fish when they were snorkelling. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine

An author I've not read before
I do enjoy the Netgalley premise
It allows me to read books and genres I would normally not buy in a bookshop in case I don't like them

Enjoyed reading this on a gloomy day

I know how hard the author will have worked on this and I hate to be critical but I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy this because it stretched credibility for me and I couldn’t believe in the premise or the characters.

Lucy is a 23 tear old single mother who gets the job of her dreams and hides the fact she has a son because……. . .?Well I never really got why. Her new job is with Marcus’ company and he makes it very clear that he expects his employees to put in the extra mile. But she has to leave at 5.00 every night so she can pick up her son from school. The reaction of her colleagues shows how different she is but she still doesn’t tell anyone about the son.
The fact that they would have understood better of they’d known about her son seemed to escape her - instead she seemed prepared to let them believe she simply wasn’t as committed. It’s made clear that the law protected her (as one would expect in 2023) so her reluctance was hard to understand. I didn’t buy the ‘I want them to think I’m a free singleton’ story. I didn’t buy that she wouldn’t tell Marcus until they were almost having sex.

I just felt appalled that in reality she conveyed the message that she was ashamed.

The other thing I found hard to believe was the negative attitude of her child’s grandfather. And her constant references to people calling her irresponsible etc was bewildering. It’s 2023 and so many people don’t marry or even bother living with their children’s father so what’s with the incredibly antiquated attitudes?

Sorry but the story lacked any real emotion for me and even Fiji didn’t do it for me. The writing is good but the plot and characters were weak.
