When Christmas is no longer your thing and you don't want to be the Debbie Downer ruining the season for everyone, then you book yourself a cottage in a secluded space and prepare to hunker down throughout the "festive" season.

However, when someone else has exactly the same plan and end up at the same cottage as you, suddenly the "alone at Christmas" no longer is a possibility.

I love how Rose and Charlie awkwardly cope with the situation, sending text messages and leaving notes for each other in the kitchen - all in an effort to allow the other one to be alone.

As the story develops the many layers of the characters come to life and it's easy to get invested in their wellbeing and cheering them on! There is happiness, but also sadness in this story and some parts may be better read in privacy than on the commute...

I highly recommend this Christmas story, even in April!!

This Christmas by Emma Heatherington

Rose was a lover of Christmas , and that meant being enveloped in the centre of her family, but now she hasn't had that sort of Christmas for years.
So she decides to rent a cosy cottage and go alone to Donegal and Seaview Cottage seemingly fits the boot.
Charlie who will be alone for Christmas for the first time decides to get away from everything and chooses to go it alone Things don't quite ( understatement ) go to plan when they find out they are both staying there !
A perfect story for the season . Reminded me a little of the romantic film The Holiday so would probably make a good film. Throw in the beautiful scenery and it would be a winner.

This is definitely a book that has the love of Christmas and the characters, the storyline is easy to follow and keeps you captives from start to finish!

Firstly I would like to thank random house UK and the author Emma hetherington for access to this Christmas.

The review I am going to make is an honest review regardless of the access I received for this book. It should be noted I was not paid for this review and ensure honesty in all my reviews.

Even though it’s April it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Rose was a big Christmas fan and then one year everything changed and rose fell out of love with it and stopped visiting her family. Charlie is facing Christmas alone. They both end up renting the SAME cottage to get away too. Uh oh!

They were so broken as characters I was turning the page hoping to see them slowly building back up. I want to read more books like this.

Nothing like reading a Christmas book in the spring! I was expecting a typical girl meets boy read, but this book had me turning page after page - managed to finish it in 2 days. I loved it. The two main characters were both ‘broken’, different reasons but equally traumatic. I enjoyed how they managed to exist in the same cottage without breaking boundaries. It’s a recommend for me and I’ll keep an eye out for this author.

Nothing like a gorgeous Christmas story! I know everyone is looking forward to summer as am I but nothing beats curling up with a cozy winter novel even as the warm weather approaches. Emma’s book are stunning from the covers to the stories to the beautiful worlds she crafts. I can’t wait to read this tale of two strangers who accidentally are forced to share Christmas together and I know readers will 2! I will be shar8ng more soon.
