I have not read anything by the author before so wasn't sure what to expect. I was drawn in by the fantastic blurb and gorgeous cover...as soon as I had read the first chapter I was completely hooked! It was such a nice and easy read. Loved the plot twist! Perfect for the target audience and a fantastic introduction to the paranormal for teens. I will look out for other books by Teri.

Mystery and crime meets the supernatural, and they meet tremendously well. The power Liv holds is both a blessing and a curse, but can be used for good. The dynamics between her and the living differ drastically with those of the dead, but he ability to differentiate is weakened until she faces a crucial injury. Terry’s weaving of characters, both main and side characters was intriguing and was something that kept me hooked; seeing both sides of the friendship with Echo as well as insights into Molly’s voice (both in her own chapters and Liv’s) makes for a very compelling read, as well as fuelling the emotion in this books twist and then it’s conclusion also. Highly recommend!

Teri's writing is always a delight and this latest book didn't disappoint.

We follow Liv's story; Liv's sister (Molly) died when they were born but Liv can still see and interact with her. Ghost Molly has always been there.

Liv meets Echo in the graveyard and he thinks that she can help him to contact his dead mother. Convinced that fear is the key to opening communication with his mum, Echo encourages Liv into increasingly dangerous situations.

Liv feels compelled to help him, even as her mum and her friends become concerned about her and she is warned away from Echo.

Teri's writing is gripping and atmospheric. I didn't expect this one to end where it did and I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Great supernatural thriller that kept me guessing. Perfect for fans of All Our Hidden Gifts. Teri has cornered the market on supernatural twisty reads.

First rate gothic horror from the genius mind of Teri Terry, Scare Me certainly lived up to its title. I can’t imagine growing up the way Liv did with her sister Molly, it would have driven me crazy. I really liked how all the different character stories came together; Echo and his mum, Bowie and his sister, Liv and Molly, their mum and Rob, with every character necessary to the resolution.

A new Teri Terry novel is a must-read for me and I was really excited to see how Scare Me would be different from Terry's usual dystopian thrillers. I found that Scare Me was slower to get started but once it got going I was completely hooked! I found myself staying up way too late to finish it. Anyone who loves a supernatural thriller will enjoy Scare Me!

This was good but it was just a bit predictable. I guessed the main plot twist pretty early on so it felt a bit of a let down. I liked the ending though as I hadn't guessed much beyond the big reveal.

I really liked the relationship between Molly and Liv. I really liked how they had a bond as sisters and then a bigger bond because Liv was the only one who could see Molly. It was a really interesting relationship to explore. Especially because Molly totally shipped Live and the best friend.

I think it's because I guess what would happen though that this book didn't really hit quite as much as Teri Terry's stuff normally does. I have to say I'm disappointed.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a YA about a young woman who is struggling with her relationship with her mother as well as that with her dead twin.

It's a slow read at times, but, a good ghostly tale with well drawn characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hatchette publishers for the opportunity to preview.

Scare Me is a tense supernatural thriller, perfect for fans of One of Us Is Lying and This Lie Will Kill You. I really enjoyed this book, it was so well written and is a great book for both the young adult and adult market, I didn’t feel like this had to be exclusively marketed at young adults. The writing was great and I really liked the setting and the story idea.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

"Being with him made me feel more alive than I ever have before."

Thank you so much to the publishers for providing me with an eArc of this book in exchange for my honest review. Hearing that this book was set in Brighton, I was immediately intrigued and then reading the blurb made me know I wanted to read it ASAP!

I haven't read one of Teri Terry's books since I was younger, so to see how far she has come now, and how brilliant her writing still is, made me so happy. This was such a good book that draws you in and keeps you wanting more.

Like Liv, I was drawn to Echo and wanted to know more about him. At first, I didn't like Molly. I thought she was controlling and wasn't letting Liv live her life in her own way. But over time she grew on me. I suppose since I never had a sister that affected how I first saw their relationship.

Overall this was a slow read for me. It was still insanely good but at times it was really easy to put down and forget about. But as soon as I picked it back up I would be drawn in again. I genuinely did not expect how some things went down and it made it even more exciting and mind-blowing to read.

This book is a perfect YA story for lovers of ghosts and mysteries.

Echo is determined to talk to his mother one last time, to know the truth behind her death. But will he be able to succeed? Can Liv truly help him? In the end, what will it cost?

Once again a huge thank you to the publishers for providing me with the arc!

Isn’t it wonderful when you can read books set where you live?

This one is set around the streets of Brighton and I found myself walking around them in my imagination.

Teri Terry is a phenomenal Young Adult writer who has won many awards, so I was thrilled when she asked if I wanted to read a copy of her latest book.

This is a bit of a different direction for the author, well known for her love of science. From the start, you can feel the hairs prickling on your neck as this ghostly thriller begins.

Liv has always been close to her twin sister, Molly. The fact that Molly died at birth, doesn’t make any difference. Molly stays around to protect her sister. And boy, does she need protecting! When Liv is drawn to Echo, a boy desperately trying to find out the truth about his mother’s death, it takes all of Molly’s strength to keep Liv safe. I found the relationship between Liv and Molly a bit creepy. Imagine having a dead relative watching your every move and able to shift into your body at any time.

Lots of darkness, lots of scary moments and a thrilling adventure towards the truth.

There is a huge plot twist which I wasn’t sure whether I saw coming or not. But that’s ghosts for you - they are unpredictable 🤷‍♀️

A spooky spectacular, ideal for teens who love a good ghost story.

Thanks @teriterrywrites for letting me read this early.

Terri Terry is moving away from Sci Fi trilogies for this fabulous paranormal thriller that somehow I only found out about last week browsing Netgalley?! 😱 And there was I worried that I wouldn't get a birthday Teri treat this year (ok it's two weeks early but I'm claiming it).

Scare Me is the story of Liv a teenager haunted by the twin she killed in utero, Echo, a boy looking for answers about his mother's death, Liv's not-but- sort-of boyfriend Bowie and the abduction case they're all tangled up in.

To say more would be to give spoilers but even though I'd guessed at the big twist half way through the book continues to deliver as Liv has to deal with the ramifications of everything that's happened and the abduction case.

This is a fabulous gripping read and Teri keeps building the tension through each of Liv's encounters with the dead. This is one to read beside the campfire this summer!

What a ride!! I've just finished reading this paranormal thriller and I'm reeling from it!
Great characterisation, a gripping plot and plenty of twisty turns.

Do you believe in ghosts? Liv has no choice when her twin sister's life is so entwined in hers, despite dying whilst still in the womb.

This is such a strong concept and the thing that had me keen to pick up and read. What kept me going was the brilliant way the writer engages with their reader through really strong sense of character and the relationships between them.

Some books rely too heavily on characters to do the main work at the cost of plot but this is NOT the case here. I was led on a packed journey with plenty of high adrenaline moments, including one in a cave that made me feel as anxious and nauseous as if I'd actually been living this myself!

I had no idea the twist near the end was coming which I really love when I'm reading a thriller.
Highly recommend this book!

As per usual, Teri does not disappoint! Such a fun book! And that plot twist!! Insane! I loved the little throwback to an old favorited of her books and think if you love supernatural thrillers with YA tones then you will love this!

I have been a massive fan of TT for a number of years and the fact that I have all thirteen of her YA novels in my school library certainly backs up that point! This author is a master of dark dystopian thrillers, which often have a science or speculative fiction edge to them (Slated 2014-19, Dark Matter 2017-18, and Dark Blue Rising 2018-20), however, her latest Scare Me is her first out-and-out YA horror novel and I hope she decides to spend some time in the supernatural world as this was a highly entertaining page-turner which would be brilliant for young teens looking for a good scare, with a strong plot and convincing characters told through a neat split narrative. Set predominately in the Brighton area, fifteen-year-old Liz has seen the ghost of her dead twin who died at birth her entire life and keeps this secret from her mother. The relationship of single-parent mother and daughter is a key part of the story, as the mother is flaky, dates younger guys and can pretend Liv is her younger sister rather than her daughter. Early in the novel Liv meets a boy called Echo, who is the second part of the split narrative, but at the same time she has become very close with classmate Bowie. The ghostly Molly sees all this and can drift in an out of Liv’s life and even offer relationship advice! This four characters: Liv, Molly, Bowie and the mum built a very entertaining story, with Echo taking the narrative in a different direction.

Echo is searching into the death of his mother who drove her car off a cliff the previous year, also almost killing him in the process. Somehow he figures out Liv can see the ghost of her dead sister and believes she can use this strange ability to help him contact his mother from beyond the grave. With friend/potential boyfriend lurking in the background Liv goes slightly off the rails with Echo, who she does not trust but does like, taking the plot into darker supernatural areas. There were some very good twists along the way and there was a major subplot development in the last 10% of the book which went beyond the Liv/Echo/dead mum story. As well as being a very good ghost story Scare Me was a terrific teen drama which I am sure could be enjoyed by those who might not normally read horror or ghost stories. AGE RANGE 12/13+
