Thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review.

The Guest revolves around Lynda who has recently lost her family in a car accident and is on a break from her boyfriend. Enter old friend Sarah, whom Lynda invites to stay as a guest. But then Lynda begins getting threatening notes and is being stalked. Who could the culprit be?

I thoroughly enjoyed this "who is it" mystery as Lynda searches to uncover what is truly going on. I didn't see the end coming and was shocked by the twist! A great thriller by Lorraine Mace!

This psychological thriller is one that once you start to read you won't want to put down. The writing was engaging from cover to cover.

This started off very slowly and I almost gave up reading the book. However I am glad I persevered because the ending was brilliant. Just wish it had been more fast paced. Would read more from this author though.

I love this book, you could feel the suspense building as you read it. At one point I think I was suspecting everyone for different reasons!! Loved how we found out how everything came together at the end of the book! Well written and found it easy & quick to read.

I loved the premise but found this a bit of a slow burn. In saying that there were some really unexpected twists which kicked it up a bit and made it worth the read. Really good writing and narrative style and well developed characters.

Loved, loved, loved this book. Based near where I live so was easy to visualise where things were happening. A page turner at its best, an ending I was not prepared for but was amazing.. did not see that coming. Can't wait to read more of this authors books :) 100% recommend

This started off a bit confusing but once the story, drama and suspense ramped up I began to get into this and I enjoyed being on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I did feel the main character, Lynda, was slightly annoying at times and I didn't always root for her however overall I did enjoy the book and would read more by this author.

The Guest by Lorraine Mace.
YOUR PAST HAS COME KNOCKING. WILL YOU LET IT IN?
Lynda Blackthorn is still reeling from the tragic car crash that killed her family more than a year ago. Throwing herself into her volunteer charity work, she is trying to piece her life back together. When she's asked to be the face of the charity's annual fundraiser, an appeal for volunteers on the local news brings old friend Sarah to her door - and the events of fourteen years ago crashing down around her.As the two women reconnect, Lynda invites Sarah to stay in her guest bedroom. But soon strange things start happening and Lynda learns it might have been better to keep the door to the past firmly closed . . .
A slow read. I found this to drag a bit. It was readable but very slow. I didn't like Lynda. 3*.

The Guest is a psychological thriller that you will not be able to put down. It was really cleverly written and will have you gripped. And let me tell you, you will not expect the twist!

Lynda has guilt from past life experience that she should have handled differently. It brings her into situation with an old friend who clearly has ulterior motives.

It was a little slow at times, but the pace picks up when the unexpected happens!

This is a dark, disturbing and claustrophobic novel. Lynda suffers from particularly strong OCD tendencies, which have finally driven her boyfriend and the love of her life, Jason, away. He says she needs help with her problems. She feels lingering guilt over events in her childhood, and accuses Jason of moving things to upset her.
She meets a girl from her school days and is manipulated into putting her up in her spare room 'for a night'. Her troubles seem to start from here.
This is a tense story and I cheered Lynda on many a time, as things spiralled out of control for her. There's a horrible event near the end which threatens to break her, and she can't find a way out. The ending is excellent, in my opinion. A really enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an early read.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! This book was so-so. Started off well with a little bit of drama...then came more drama....and another dose of drama. The book dragged on and the main character's guilt and selfish tendencies were a little painful to constantly read about. Heck, I started talking outloud to her myself. How can you work as a volunteer to assist others, but cannot help yourself by speaking up?!? Definitely needed a flow chart to keep up with all the side characters and names. The last few chapters were a bit much.

I loved this! A cleverly crafted psychological thriller that is a real page turner and really ends with a twist. The main character of this novel is Lynda, a woman with a complicated and traumatic past. Lynda works for a charity that supports people who've been bullied in school. Through her charity work, she comes into contact with an old school friend, Sarah, who Lynda has always felt guilty about letting down when they were younger.
When Sarah's relationship breaks up and she has nowhere to live. Lynda invites Sarah to stay with her until she gets sorted. However, it rapidly becomes clear that Sarah has her own motivations for wanting to move into Lynda's flat.
This is a pacey, twisty tale that will keep you hooked right up until that shocking finale. A great work by an author who is at the very top of her game.

Thank you NetGalley, Lorraine Mace, and Headline for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Guest.

Lynda is the main character. She let's her past run her life. She feels guilty for not stopping the bullying that her best friend, Sarah, experienced. Sarah decided to stand up to the bullies with Lynda by her side, but Lynda failed to be there. Sarah then viciously attacked the head bully and ended up getting expelled over it and her and Lynda lost touch. Lynda's boyfriend at the time dies of suspected suicide. Later, her family dies tragically in a car accident.

Currently, Lynda deals with OCD and it causes her and her boyfriend to breakup. She heads a charity to bring awareness to bullying. Sarah then contacts Lynda after seeing her on TV 14 years after their fallout. This is when Lynda's life really starts to unravel.

This one was fast paced at the beginning. I felt the middle slowed down a little and things became a bit repetitive. It did pick up again after the lull and there was a twist I wasn't expecting.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I felt it was a slow start but once the story picked up I genuinely found myself gripped, not wanting to even stop reading to eat!

The twist was shocking and had my eagerly turning the page to find our more information. I would rate this book 4/5.
