I've been reading quite a few books on tarot lately, as a beginner, and this is hands down the best one I've encountered.

To start with, the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Illustrations of all of the Major Arcana are included, and there is also artwork on just about every single page.

The author is clearly extensively knowledgeable about tarot cards and various other aspects of witchcraft, exploring how astrology and numerology factor into interpretation of the cards. She also explains different types of spreads in depth, as well as the meaning of each of the individual 78 cards in the deck and their reversed meanings as well. This makes the book a great starting text for beginners.

However, Squire also explores how to use the cards to answer yes or no questions, work them into spells, and most intriguingly, incorporate them into a regular journaling practice in order to learn more about ourselves, the cards, our emotions, and how to best interpret the cards, both for ourselves and others.

This is one of the rare few books that I'm planning to purchase as soon as I can, since I had far too many bookmarks, and will need to reference this one far too often to not have a physical copy on my shelf. Whether you're just a beginner like me, or already have some experience and are looking for novel ways to use the cards or gain a deeper understanding, this is the book for you.

When learning something new, it is always important to find the right reference guide to make this process easier. Tarot Magick was a really straightforward, easy to follow guide to starting your tarot reading journey. With some history thrown in, this guide focuses on the ways of meaning-making in tarot and would be a great reference for someone at any stage of their tarot journey. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a one-stop-shop kind of book which they can go back to again and again. I would really consider buying a hard copy of this one for my own library.

This was a NetGalley review.

I'm still a beginner in tarot reading, even though I have already read some books and materials and taken some courses. So, I think I can review this book as someone who has some knowledge on the topic, but who is not an expert.
That being said, this book is beautiful! Not only does it have gorgeous illustration, but it also has some of the most important tips for beginners and it works wonderful as a quick consultation material. I don't know if it is enough for someone who's starting (but again, what is enough in tarot reading? Is there such a thing?), but it for sure is an excellent starting point.

This book is a fantastic deep dive into tarot and other card based divination systems for a beginner. Although the knowledge in the book is fairly basic they’re still something for everyone. And things even the most adept tarot reader can try.

The illustrations are stunning and the illustrated pages give a quick visual recap of each section of the book
The only negative id say is that the book is heavily based around the rws tarot deck and doesn’t really give any info on other decks such a Thoth or Lenormand.

I love the spell section as it shows readers another way that tarot can be utilised.

Definitely a must have for beginners to the tarot. However, I did find it lacking in some areas. How to read different cards together based on type spread and how long you should keep the spell ingredients. However, the author does provide an advanced reading list.

Arc review netgalley

This author was from the beginning in validation her belief systems and how her book is a reflection of that, and intern how her book would and should be used to learn. That I respect more than all else. Of the hundred of “tarot authors and those for clout” she showed clear understanding and explaining tarot, as well as layout of her book.

I would recommend this book to beginners with your values and belief fall in with this tarot reader- which is something I recommend to all.

This is a beautifully illustrated explanation of the tarot. It provides basic details on how to obtain a deck, the different types of decks and how to choose the best for you. It also provides an excellent explanation of each card in each suit. There are even some spells to practice with tarot cards. This is a great resource for beginners.

A beautiful witchy magical book on tarot perfect for beginners. I've been on my tarot journey for about 2 years and I am reading as many tarot books as I can. If this was the first tarot book I read on my journey I would have loved it. So many little bits of information all in one place. A great reference.

Tarot Magick stands out to me as a great read due to its simplicity and layout. I loved Chapter 2- Practical tarot. So many amazing info graphics to look back on and reference including colour theory, numerology, yes or no questions and the elements.

Including the fools journey in the Major Arcana chapter was a lovely addition that I have not seen in a tarot book yet. This is such a great tool to learn the meanings and help join the stories of each card together.

I really enjoyed the chapter on Tarot Spells and Rituals. I found this to be a unique practical addition to a tarot book. Making Tarot Magick more than just a tarot guide book giving the reader practical ways to use the cards in their magical practice. The practical information on caring, cleansing and energy related to your deck will be valuable to many readers especially those starting out on their tarot journey.

All the artwork and illustrations are beautiful providing a witchy magical vibe. I only got to read a digital copy of the book but I can image the physical copy to be a lovely book to read.

The only thing that let it down for me was the Minor Arcana chapter and the lack of illustrations of each card. I wanted to be able to see each card as I was reading about them. If you had the corresponding deck with you this would be no problem but I just wanted to see the illustrations in that section.

Overall a great introduction into tarot or a great refresh for any tarot reader.

Thank you Net Galley for providing me with an early copy of this book.

Tarot Magick is a book for people approaching tarots, with useful info about each card of the Major and Minor Arcana, like their positive and negative meaning, how to prepare a deck before using it and at the end a few rituals for different purposes.
Everything is explained in a simple intuitive way, making it easy to understand tarots and how to read them in a divination. I wished there was something more about the types of readings, the three cards, four cards and the cross method could have been explained more.
The illustrations were really mesmerizing and helpful to visualize the topics covered.

Stuuuunning! The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous in this book, you’ve absolutely nailed the tarot witchy aesthetic for me. I shall definitely be buying the physical copy of this just to appreciate the look of it on my shelf alone. Having read a fair share of beginners to tarot books, i think this one has by far helped me understand it the most. Usually i become overwhelmed with how much others seem to know off the top of their head when learning tarot but i know think i’ve found ways in which i can introduce it slowly and efficiently into my every day life! Love, Love, Love!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book.

This book is a great, quick tarot book that’s laid out in an easy-to-follow way.

As always, the work of Forensics and Flowers was stunning.

I love that there are mentions of symbolism and even how tarot works with timing, elements, and ruling planets. Because of this information, the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana entries have that information as well as upright and reversed meanings. The differences are that the Major Arcana has individual artwork for each card and how the Fool transforms on their journey whereas the Minor Arcana doesn’t have this (for good reason).

One of the best all encompassing tarot books I’ve come across. As soon as this is available in physical form I will be purchasing it! I absolutely love design and illustrations throughout the book as well. If you are beginner to intermediate with fair I highly recommend. This book includes the upright and reversed meaning of every card and as well as the meaning is each major arcana card throughout the fools journey. I appreciated all of the info in the beginning as well about choosing, cleansing, and caring for your deck.

An amazing guide accurately addressing any apprehension of newbie tarot users. It’s a clear cut and welcoming approach that simultaneously educates and relieves concerns. Emphasizing intuition and building that muscle always resonates with me. Plus I love the “Questions to ask your deck as a sweet way to familiarize yourself with your new cards — which is appealing as a practice for any new deck that shows up in your life. The daily draw, is another great tool for learning and connecting with your deck. Astrological tarot card associations introduce another fab way to draw connections. The meanings section-includes planets, zodiac, elements, and keywords, allowing for a multilevel degree of understanding. The tarot spell section is a fantastic addition to this tarot book.. Practice, just do it, and pull cards. ✨🔮✨🔮✨🔮✨
