Sheriff Bree and her family become targets in her current investigation as she and Matt try to figure out who is behind a recent string of crimes. Her friend Dana is then pulled in as the man she is seeing is murdered and she is at the scene of the crime.
I loved this book! I need to go back to the beginning now. Bree and Matt work so well together and their relationship warms my heart. She is a role model for her niece and nephew and is trying so hard for them, but like us all, fears she’s not enough. Matt’s family is wonderful and I hope to see more of them.
The mystery in this book kept me interested and I really didn’t know who it was until the end. I now have a new author!
Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Bree Taggert is another of the crime thriller series that I really enjoy. After Sheriff Bree Taggert’s takedown of cold-blooded murderer Travis Ekin, his family vows revenge. Travis’s mother and brothers are every bit as violent, and Bree is in their crosshairs. When Bree starts getting threats by email and someone is watching her home, there is concern the Ekin's are going to try and make good on their promise to make Bree pay. Meanwhile, her friend and children's caregiver, Dana Romano, walks in on a shooting of the man she has been dating. She is beaten and almost killed, but being an ex-police detective, she is in good shape and is able to fight him off. The crime scene is in another jurisdiction and that sheriff is sure that Dana is guilty of the crime, now murder as the doctor is now dead. With both of these situations becoming entwined, Bree and Matt need to find the culprit before someone else ends up dead.
I really enjoyed having Dana being a main character in this one. She has always been in the background, so it was her time. The crime was not an easy one to solve, as it seemed the victim had no enemies. As the police focused on Dana, the intensity ratchets up, especially as there are more threats to Bree and her family. With the K-9 officers and Matt's own dog getting involved, you know someone will eventually be caught, but the motive and final reveals were tense and had me on the edge of my seat. There is a bit of a romance storyline with Matt's brother and Dana, but it is just beginning and not a huge part in the story, but he does stay with her and acts as an added layer of protection when she becomes a target. Another great addition to this series.

This is book 7 in the Bree Taggert series and yes readers should read the previous books to be able to understand the different characters that being said the author keeps readers update quickly at the beginning of the book.
As always Melinda Leigh is able to keep readers hooked from the first few pages until the end of the story.
This is the first in the author series that has very little romance but female characters who are strong (Also from other series of Melinda Leigh) come together and work to find a killer.
The story fells a little disjointed compared to the authors other stories.
Thank you Netgalley.

In this seventh installment of the "Bree Taggert" series by Melinda Leigh, Sheriff Bree Taggert has to protect her family when they are threatened by the violent Atkin family after she arrests Travis Etkin for a vivious murder. The trials of the family is compounded when Bree's best friend and live-in caregiver of her nephews Dana Romano walks in on the murder of her new boyfriend Ian. Dana is also attacked by the intruder and is severely injured during her struggle to help Ian.
As if things weren't complicated enough, the evidence of the crime point to Dana as the culprit rather than the actual suspect. As Bree and her partner Matt focus their effort in finding who is the one threatening her family, Matt's brother Nolan helps Dana's informal investigation into Ian's murder. When another totally unrelated murder occurs, with almost the same kind of trace evidence as Ian's case, the team turn their focus towards Dana's past cases.
With many leads turning up different suspects, this informal team race against time to catch the culprit who has been threatening the family and also Ian's murderer.
Melinda Leigh has proven again why she is the bestseller she is. She has the ability to take the reader into these people's lives and bring them close to our minds. The biggest strength of her story telling is that she engages the emotions of the readers along with their intellects. The reader is made to care about the people the main protagonists care for; and when they are threatened, we feel as angry as they do.
As always, this book was an enjoyable reading experience. It had a lot going for it with the two pronged investigation into two culprits. The only problem I felt the book had, and it is very small, is that the murderer's motive didn't seem that strong enough, for him, to go to the lengths for revenge that he went on to. Nevertheless this book is an excellent addition to the series and I can't wait to read more of Sheriff Bree Taggert.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a really fun small-town mystery with cute moments among friends and family. Now this is my first time reading Melinda Leigh and well I plan to read the other books in this series. I thought Sheriff Bree Taggert and Dana Romano were strong and independent heroines. The suspense started from the beginning of this book and didn't light up until the end which I enjoyed. I am not going to lie the twist did surprise me.
Now when it came to the romance I thought it was sprinkled verses being the main focus.
I do recommend going in blind and it could be read as a standalone.
What to expect:
❄️ Police Process during an investigation
❄️ Murder
❄️ Stalking
❄️ Romance Suspense
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC of Catch Her Death in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my, another nail-biting thriller by Melinda Leigh. I always enjoy her books. They are gripping, captivating, engaging, and exciting. Sheriff Bree was used to ominous threats. They had committed a grave mistake by crossing her border, invading her private space, and threatening her family. When these threats morphed into murder and attempted murder, she went on full alert and became the hunter.

Love this series, loved this book! I always race to start a new book in this series when I get my hands on it. It’s always such a delight to reunite with the characters and see what’s up with the crew. I loved that we got a deeper dive into Dana in this book! The case was perplexing and I was hooked from the beginning. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

I really enjoy this series.
I was stumped with the mystery and how the two crimes were connected.
I didn’t see the new prospects for Dana but I fully approve.
Greta is a force to reckon with and I love her almost as much as I love Brody. She chomps on people with no hesitation.
I can’t wait for the next adventure!

Sheriff Bree Taggert’ is at it again with another delicious serving from author Melinda Leigh. Whilst Bree has apparently some sworn enemies in the Ekin family, Bree also finds herself worried about her best friend, Dana Romano who has been shot after a fight with an unidentified intruder in her boyfriend's house.
Bree has to work with the local police (who show signs of incompetence), but this only adds to this terrific book.
Lots of twists with Bree trying to find the killer, and it is not who you think it is!
Thanks to Net Galley and Montlake for the chance to read and review.

Melinda Leigh's Catch Her Death is the Seventh installment in the authors Bree Taggert series. Randolph County Sheriff Bree Taggert is back on the job and feeling the pressure. First, after Bree’s takedown of cold-blooded murderer Travis Ekin, his family vows revenge. Travis’s mother and brothers are every bit as violent, and Bree is in their crosshairs. To complicate matters, Bree’s best friend, Dana Romano who retired to live in Grey's Hollow with Bree to help raise her sisters kids, walks into her date’s home and finds him shot in the chest.
Dana, who was a Philadelphia police officer & Detective for 25 years, tangles with an unidentified intruder, but he escapes through the back door. The crime scene is in another police department’s jurisdiction, and the lead investigator focuses on Dana as the prime suspect. With Dana recovering from a concussion, threats to the family, a drug bust, another body and a missing dementia senior who may have witnessed a serious crime, Bree and Matt have their hands full.
Bree and Matt must find the killer fast—before either case takes another deadly turn or someone Bree loves is caught in the crossfire. Bree also has a personal issue to deal with. After years of being a cop, and after solving the murder of her sister ending up as Sheriff, she now has to figure it any of it has been worth it. After all, Bree has dozens of enemies who are eager to get rid of her and install some one who is a corrupt as the former Sheriff.
*Thoughts* So, this book actually starts out with the introduction of a new character named Deputy Laurie Collins. Laurie and her new dog partner Greta have successfully completed K-9 training and are now on the job thanks to some finagling by Bree. Greta ends up being one of the stars of this book along with Dana. Dana has become a major part of Bree's extended family which also includes Matt Flynn, her brother Aaron, and his family. Dana getting a chance at happy with Matt’s retired MMA fighting older brother Nolan during a tough, vulnerable time for Dana. Bree is super good at her job, but she still has step-back moments when she feels the vulnerability of finally having a love life and family. Especially when it comes to Luke and Kayla whose mother was murdered a year ago.

Once again, the author, Melinda Leigh, had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I have loved, for the most part, the books in the Bree Taggert series (see my review for Lie to Her ~ Bree Taggert #6). And this was a wonderful addition to the series and was back in line with the intense mystery and edge-of-your-seat action that I have come to expect from the author. The characters are well developed and you will come to be invested in their lives. I enjoyed that this one focused more on Dana, Bree’s ex-partner from her days in homicide before moving to Scarlet Falls, NY. These two women are tough cookies and their friendship continues to develop and to see how much they care for each other is touching. You get to see Bree and her significant other, Matt, work together as they sift through clues. I loved watching Collins and her K-9, Greta, work together. The end of the book will catch you by surprise and have you wondering how you didn’t see that coming. Can’t wait for the next adventure with Bree, Matt, Dana, and hopefully Matt’s brother, Nolan.

Catch Her Death by Melinda Leigh is the seventh entry in her excellent series featuring Sheriff Bree Taggert and her eclectic blended family. Bree and Matt Flynn, her investigative and romantic partner, are on the trail of the killer of a local cosmetic surgeon as well as the vengeful family of Travis Ekin, whom Bree had busted previously. In addition, Bree’s family is being threatened with harm, which increases her stress and commitment to keeping her family safe. The clues pile up, the local police chief Hanover has blinders on, and it is up to Bree and Matt to untangle the mystery of how it is all related and catch the killer, with the help of new K-9 police dog, Greta.
The powerful heart of the series is the interwoven dynamic of Bree’s family—her niece and nephew who she is raising—the warmth and love of their horses, who serve as steady, calming elements-–and the camaraderie of Matt and Bree, as their romance slowly evolves.
While this is a very strong police procedural with plenty of action, it is also an insightful look at the human side of law enforcement personnel and their family life, as loving and complicated as anyone’s, yet hopeful in its simple joys.
I highly recommend this entire series!!
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Ms. Leigh has done it again. Bree is chasing down killers while trying to keep her family and friends safe. She's not sure who to trust except for her boyfriend Matt. There are some twists and turns. You'll think you have it figured out and then wham, something else happens to throw you off the scent. Lots of action as well, so buckle in and enjoy the ride.

Sheriff Bree Taggart is one of the favourite fmcs I have come across in recent years.
I love that she's a strong woman who supports other women and recognises their strengths but, she's also an amazing boss that inspires loyalty and hard work.
However, in Catch Her Death she has to 'officially' take a step back.
She does this with skill and determination, constantly keeping her eye on the much bigger picture, ensuring this particular investigation is conducted properly.
As you would expect, the case is solved but not before a number of twists, turns and seeming narrowmindedness has to be dealt with.
All in all a great addition to this series.

Catch Her Death is another fast paced, unputdownable suspense by Melinda Leigh.
Travis Ekin's family is angry after Sheriff Bree Taggert arrests him for murder. His whole family is just as dangerous as he is so now she has to watch her back, even more than usual. Then, later that evening her best friend, Dana, finds her new boyfriend murdered in his own home and is then attacked, herself. Since the crime happened in another jurisdiction, Bree isn't familiar with the lead investigator. Before an actual investigation has taken place, he's already zeroing in on Dana as the main suspect. So now, Bree and her investigator boyfriend, Matt, are doing their own investigation, on the down low.
After Bree’s family starts receiving threats, they discover another murder with striking similarlies to the first. Now Bree and Matt are in a race against the clock.

This is book 7 in the brilliant Sherriff Bree Taggart series.
After Sheriff Bree Taggert’s takedown of cold-blooded murderer Travis Ekin, his family vows revenge. Travis’s mother and brothers are every bit as violent, and Bree is in their crosshairs.
To complicate matters, Bree’s best friend, Dana Romano, walks into her date’s home and finds him shot in the chest. Dana tangles with an unidentified intruder, but he escapes through the back door. The crime scene is in another police department’s jurisdiction, and the lead investigator focuses on Dana as the prime suspect.
Can Bree and her team find the killer before they kill again?
I absolutely loved this book and flew three it in two sittings. I totally recommend it to all crime genre fans. I can't wait to read the next one.

Every time I think this series cannot get better a new book is release and I am wrong. This was amazing. I love the plot twist, it really grabbed hold and made me read faster. As usual, great character and writing. Love it and can’t wait for the next one.

Another fantastic book in this series!
I read anything from Melinda Leigh, and especially like the Bree Taggert series. I've enjoyed watching Bree's relationship with the children she gained guardianship over when their parents' died, and also the growing relationship between Matt and Bree. Dana, her former law enforcement partner and nanny to the kids, plays a central role in this book.
Fast-paced, multiple story lines that might eventually converge into one suspect (but you have to read to find out), this story kept me guessing until the very end. Another nice twist to this book is the new possible relationship between Dana and Nolan, Matt's brother. Hopefully to be continued in future books.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

We're back with Bree and her trusty crew, only this time, it's best friend, Dana. When Dana finds herself intertwined in a murder case, it takes all of her friends and all of her willpower to be on the other side of the law table.
To make matters worse, a resident of the community keeps going missing in the freezing weather and no matter how many times he is found, he finds his way out of the house again.
Then, when Bree finds threats against her and her family in email and at her property, it will take the entire sheriff's department to decipher who's after this family.
It is a twisty novel that has a lot of moving parts. They are all mixed together and intertwined. I really enjoyed this one and liked how everyone had their own story but were all part of the same story too.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the copy of Catch Her Death by Melinda Leigh
This is the 7th book in the Bree Taggert series.
Bree is threatened by the Ekin family after arresting one of the brothers.
They are bad news and Bree is worrying about her family’s safety.
But is it them she has to worry about? A great book that starts kinda slow and gathers speed quickly.
I would advise reading this series in order to get the most enjoyment.
