Adele Parks is an author whose books will always have you on the edge of your seat. Just Between Us continues the trend. Fast paced, complex with many twists and turns and characters who at points you think might be the culprit, but you just don't know. It's a book that keeps you on your toes trying to work it all out.

Just Between Us is a psychological thriller that started out a little slow at the beginning and then about half way through turns into a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down. This book is the sequel to Both of You so it does help if you are familiar with that book..
This is filled with twists and turns that you won't see coming.

Kylie is a bigamist, but is she alive or dead?
This is a fantastic story, full of excellent, believable characters, great descriptions of places and absolutely exciting action! I loved it so much, I’m buying copies for family and friends’ Christmas presents.

This was fascinating! I'd read Both of Us so I knew where the story would start, and it was so interesting to see how Adele Parks created a sequel from a fixed text, while also writing a story which could work as a standalone to anyone who hadn't read the first. I thought she was a genius before, but now I'm convinced of it!

I loved this engaging read with its twisty plot and a cast of characters that I both loved and hated! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC.

Adele Parks is a QUEEN. This book is phenomenal! I actually don’t think any written review could do this book justice. I need to give it a go.

Both of You was a book that completely blew my mind. I was desperate to know what happened next. I was thrilled to receive a message from Adele letting me know that this would fill in any blanks I had. I instantly became more excited. I mean, I only need a title of an Adele Park’s books to preorder so my countdown for delivery was on.

The wait has been a million percent worth it. It has been a delight to revisit characters that I adore from Both of You. I could never have predicted how this was going to play out. This is completely unacceptable and utterly brilliant from beginning to end.

I feel like I want to just slide into Adele’s DM’s with the words “ALL HAIL QUEEN ADELE”. Nothing about this book can be considered a negative. It’s brilliant from page one to the end. I found myself completely lost in the pages and unwilling to put this down.

We finally find out the truth behind Fake Fiona and discover the real reasons for her actions. I’ve really found my heart hurting for poor Seb and Oli, they are definitely the innocents in this.

Mark and Daan are also back. Both suspects and I’m still unsure on my opinion of both of them. However, Parks portrays them perfectly and in a way you feel empathy for them as the plot unfolds.

This is perfectly paced. I was pulled in and completely unwilling to put this down. It has resulted in me devouring this entire gem in just one sitting. My only regret, I can’t experience this as a first read all over again.

I have read most of Adele’s books and these are my favourites. They are just phenomenal. Unpredictable, completely addictive and guaranteed to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this book. It is a masterpiece and should be on everyone’s TBR.

You know I love a book involving missing people. So this was perfect for me. It did drag on in places though, and that would by my only criticism.

Not the best book by this author: too long and it starts with a bang and then it's a bit too long and dragging.
There's a fascinating description of the lockdown and well rounded characters
I was kept guessing.
.3.5 upped to 4
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Wow! What a story! From the first page to the last, this book had me on the edge of my seat, frantically turning pages to see what was next.

I read a few of Park's books before, and this one is definitely one of the best. The plot is very unusual... the killer is revealed very early on, and so are their motives, but the journey to discover everything that's in the background is amazing. The parallel plot is so mysterious and clever, I wasn't sure what the heck was going on and why we were told this completely unrelated story... until the truth came out and wow.

I didn't know this book was the sequel of Both of you, now I'm going to have to read that one as well asap. But if you haven't read that, read assured this can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

This is a book I 100% recommend!

Thank you @netgalley and @hqstories for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Kylie Gillingham is missing presumed dead. Searching for her is DCI Clements and her team. They have discovered that Kylie has led a dual life , married to2 men at the same time. Mark, dad of 2 her 1st husband and Daan, serial adulterer who is currently being charged with her murder.
DCI Clements doesn’t believe he did it and with the absence of a body is unsure if Kylie is even dead despite all the evidence pointing that way

Meanwhile in a small seaside town we meet Stacie Jones and her dad. Stacie is recovering from brain surgery and is struggling with memory loss. As things start to come back, she struggles with her identity. Are the memories she’s experiencing real, or the false memories her father has said she may experience?

What links these two stories?

I found this well written. The characters intriguing and I was keen to keep reading to find out how their stories linked. Whilst some twists I was prepared for their were others that took me by surprise

I was also completely shocked at the end to find this was a sequel to a previous book, which I am now going back to read. Despite this it was great as a standalone and I didn’t ever feel I had missed anything which is why it was such anshock to discover when reading the authors notes

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me access to this title

I was thrilled to discover the sequel to this book, as I'm not a fan of open endings. The writing was simply outstanding, immersing me fully in the world the characters inhabited. I experienced a whirlwind of emotions - curiosity, fear, and even a desire for a different outcome, yet strangely, I found solace in the way it all concluded.

There were moments that sent shivers down my spine, particularly those involving children. The author's ability to create such intense and suspenseful twists truly kept me on the edge of my seat.

But what truly stood out for me was the main character. Their depth and relatability made me instantly connect with them, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the story.

In summary, this sequel was a rollercoaster of emotions, skillfully written, with characters that felt like old friends. It's a book that I won't soon forget.

What an excellent premise with intertwined stories that keeps you turning the pages.

The characters are well written and you don’t quite know who to trust at any point which makes it a compulsive read.

I just couldn’t get into this book at all. The start was good and kind of got you initially hooked but then it seemed to go all round the houses giving background information on the missing person… except it never seemed to get out of that situation and as a consequence, I very much found myself skim reading it. Thanks for the opportunity to read it but it just wasn’t for me.

I absolutely love any book by Adele Parks and this was no exception. It’s a follow up to Both of You so if you haven’t already read that, I suggest you do. This could be read as a stand-alone but I think most readers would enjoy it more having known the back story.

Kylie Gillingham is married to two men, is missing, presumed dead and both husbands are suspects!

DC Clements is the detective on the case and won’t stop until she finds the body.

Stacie Jones is recovering from cancer, being cared for by her father.

Set during the Covid pandemic so there are a few references to this.

Chapters written from the point of view of all the the main characters.

I loved how the story came together after a slow start, gradually building.and then the pace suddenly ramped up.
