Just Another Missing Person tells the story of DCI Julia Day, who we meet just as she gets a missing persons case. Olivia has gone missing and was last spotted going into an alleyway that is a dead end. What's worse is that someone wants Julia to frame someone in order to protect her loved ones, calling her integrity into question.
The book is narrated by Julia mainly alongside a few other characters. I feel as though we get to know Julie very well and I enjoyed learning about her; the characterisation is excellent, as always, and she is a complex but likeable police officer.
As is normal with Gillian McAllister, there are twists aplenty throughout, starting with a pretty massive one about halfway through. These, along with the excellent writing, kept me gripped throughout and I whizzed through this one.
I've give the book 4 stars, but only because I didn't quite enjoy it as much as her incredible last book 'Wrong Place, Wrong Time'.
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

DCI Julia Day gets a call about Olivia, a high risk missing person last seen on CCTV going into a blind alley and not coming back out. The case is utterly baffling and it’s going to get a lot worse, way, way worse for Julia. As this dedicated, everything by the book, police officer has to do the unthinkable in order to protect a close family member. She must frame someone for Olivia‘s murder, or the ‘Secrets Genie’ will be well and truly out of the box. The story is told from several perspectives but principally by Julia.
Well, she’s done it again! This is another cracking, dark, very well thought out thriller. As this is Gillian McAllister you know right from the start this will not be straightforward and that it will come with a multitude of clever and surprising twists and it sure does. Naturally too, the twists will be accompanied by plenty of tension and suspense. Although the pace starts quite slowly (for this author!) it builds exponentially and when the twists do start coming, they seem to sock you in the jaw much more forcefully. The plot is complex, you do need to concentrate which is no bad thing, and then all the pieces of the jigsaw start fitting together to give you the big picture which in my case, I don’t see coming.
The characterisation is excellent, Julia is really fascinating. She’s a complicated person with a complicated home life. She is in a caught between a rock and a hard place dilemma. One of the most compelling aspects of the plot is how her mind flits back and forth as she tries to navigate the turbulent waters. One of the standout characters is her daughter Genevieve, who is one smart teenager and I love the bond and sparky dialogue between mother and daughter . All the different perspectives work well, they contrast strongly against each other which adds yet another intriguing layer to the multi layered plot.
So, I think this is another best seller for this talented author whose books I find absolutely gripping. Highly recommended.
With thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

Another great twisty thriller from Gillian McAllister. The first half was laying all the ground work for the story and then second half was putting all the puzzle pieces together to uncover the mystery. Really good twists and great writing and characters that have you thinking, they shouldn’t be loveable but you can’t help feeling for them.
Not sure if I missed something at the end tho as there was just one piece of the puzzle i needed more clarification over.
Overall a page turner that I couldn’t put down and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Gillian.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the chance to read this Arc.

I think one of my favourite tropes in crime.thriller fiction is that of a normal person who is stuck in a situation of their own making that then keeps snowballing until they're in real trouble -when it's done well, it's truly frightening, and Gillian McAllister manages it beautifully here.
Julia is a successful and well respected police officer who is given a strange missing persons case to investigate: a beautiful influencer named Olivia has gone missing after walking into a blind alley and not coming back out again. Unfortunately, Julia has recently done something illegal to protect her daughter, and someone knows her secret, and that someone wants Julia to set someone up for Olivia's murder...
I love this author's writing style, and JAMP was no exception - a cleverly plotted, beautifully written book with lots of twists and turns, flawed and believable characters, and a ratcheted up sense of tension that spans the whole novel. I'm always super pleased when I don't get the twist)s) too, and there were plenty that blindsided me in this! An easy five stars.
Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher, who granted me a free ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review,

How far would you, as a parent, go to protect your child? Would you as a serving police officer, break the law? As a mother would you protect your son if the police are questioning them over the disappearance of his girlfriend ?
All questions that are in this book when we see how far will go to protect their loved ones while also trying to do the right thing.
I loved this book and raced through it as I needed to find out what happened to the missing girl.
Thanks to net galley and the publishers for this arc
4 stars

This is an absolute stroke of writing brilliance.
I love books that make you think about what you would do in a situation and this is an excellent example.
A missing person, mistakes made and nothing is what it seems.
Highly recommend.

I couldn't stop reading this book! A fantastic storyline that had me gripped and needing to find out what had happened. Really well written and I couldn't put it down.

This is another truly memorable book from Gillian McAllister.(I loved Wrong place, wrong time). Julia is heading up the investigation in to the disappearance of 22 year old Olivia, who was caught on CCTV entering a dead end alley and not coming back out. Julia is still smarting from not solving the disappearance of another girl the previous year. One night just in to the current case, she finds a masked man in the back of her car. He tells her that unless she plants some DNA evidence in the missing girl's flat then he will report her for a big secret that she has been covering up in order to protect her teenaged daughter. This is a great read with some absolutely amazing twists that you won't see coming!! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

This is my first book by Gillian McAllister and I Will be picking up her previous book asap! This one was brilliant. The story follows DCI Julia Day as she investigates the disappearance of a young women. Julia has a lot going on in her life and is trying to protect her daughter and a big secret which leaves her vulnerable to corruption and being blackmailed to frame another man for the disappearance.
I found the first half to be a little bit slow but felt that the background and scene setting were done well and needed at this point. However things really picked up for me around 50%. There is a big twist and the plot and all that scene setting comes together very nicely.
There are a good few twists and turns throughout and it’s a very gripping and addictive read.

Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister is a thrilling and suspenseful read that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The novel is centered around the disappearance of Olivia, a young woman who is last seen on CCTV entering a dead-end alley. As the investigation into her disappearance begins, it becomes clear that not everyone is who they seem to be, and there are several moral dilemmas that arise.
One of the main questions that the novel asks is how far a parent would go to protect their child. Additionally, it raises the question of whether a serving police officer would break the law to protect someone they love. As the story unfolds, the reader is taken on a journey full of twists and turns that keep them intrigued until the very end.
The characters in the novel are both agreeable and disreputable, and the storyline is cleverly crafted to keep the reader guessing. Overall, Just Another Missing Person is a highly recommended read for those who enjoy suspenseful and thrilling novels.

I love Gillian's books and this one was no exception. It had alot thrown into it that you had to try and peice together and workout. I liked that it had multiple storylines to keep the reader engaged. Very well written. Highly recommended

I found this book impossible to put down with strong characters and brilliant writing throughout this made it a solid read from this very talented author.Im already looking forward to her next read.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley and Michael Joseph,Penguin Random House for the ARC.

McAllister's plotting is so intricate that once you reach the end of her books, you have to take a moment and say, "Wow".
I've been a huge fan of McAllister's writing since the beginning and she has always been an auto-buy for me, and I have to say I worried (slightly!) that any pressure from the huge success Wrong Place Wrong Time has achieved would dampen any future work, but I knew I never should have worried!
JAMP is incredible. Once it was revealed how the narrators were all connected, the novel really just soared! I absolutely raced through it and I can't wait to see the reception it will get as it is very much deserved.

This is a twisty, gripping thriller that delivers on all levels. McAllister knows just how to keep us engaged, to give us as much information as she wants but play her trump cards so skilfully. I loved how the parent-child relationship is the Achilles heel of more than one character and how events can take over. Loved this, a really good read.

Another 5 star read from Gillian Mcallister - Just Another Missing Person is well paced, full of twists and concludes with a satisfying ending.

I have read a few Gillian McAllister books and enjoyed them the last one being Wrong Time Wrong Place which was brilliant. I didn't enjoy Just Another Missing Person as much and found it dragged on for too long and was a little complicated.

This tried too hard to be like Wrong Time Wrong Place but it failed. I really couldn’t get into the book until about 60% in. I persevered because I knew the author was good but I don’t think many people will be as committed. The ending was good but somewhat predictable.

Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister is another masterclass in storytelling and a gripping intense read. There are many twists and turns in this story and not everyone are who they present themselves as. There are missing young women who disappear without a trace and are never found alive or dead. There are several moral dilemmas in this story and they are about how far would you, as a parent, go to protect your child. Would you as a serving police officer, break the law? As a mother would you protect your son if their girlfriend disappears and the police are questioning them ?
There are many questions that require answers in this book and not all the answers will be what the reader expects. A very clever storyline, agreeable and disreputable characters and many twists and turns to keep the reader intrigued.
Highly recommended

A police procedural with twisting suspense. Ideal for readers who enjoy morally compromised lead detectives operating outside the law. It will do well.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an independent review.

Excellent book! Well written. Lots of twists and turns. Great characters who you felt invested in as you got to know them. One of those books you don’t want to finish,
Highly recommended.
