If you're looking for a cozy witchy romance, this is a pretty solid one. Great fall read choice, it isn't doing anything amazing.. but a book like this doesn't need to! We want it to check the boxes and make us feel good, which it does.

Chaos
Hilarity
Cosy romcom
Witchy magical goodness
This was all of the above and it didn’t disappoint
I love this books and can’t wait to see what’s next!

A hilarious, cute witchy romcom with a fabulous London setting. Loved the chaotic main character, who I found extremely relatable, and the central romance.

Perfect witchy romance, if you love a Halloween witchy Rom com to read in the autumn then this is the book you need to try! Just like Kate Johnson’s other books, a fabulously funny and great read!

2/5 stars! So this is a witchy book, but I wouldn't call it a believable romance. Poppy is a ridiculous character that says ridiculous things that made me grimace and put the book down several times before making it through. I did not enjoy and can't really recommend it unless the reader is looking for a satire on PNR.

This was fun and quirky and I enjoyed myself immensely. I'm settling on 3.5 stars because of the insta love feel I had and the characters were a little immature at times. It was a fast paced and there never was a dull moment. I like the little mentions of characters from the first book too. I had a good time and am sad it took me so long to read it.

Witchy hijinks in the city via a curse gone wrong? Absolutely perfect, no notes! So much fun. A lot of people TRY to do the witchy romance thing around spooky season but Kate Johnson nails it every time!

I thought this pretty cute! I really liked the dynamic between Poppy and Axl, although I did find both of them to be a bit shallow and maybe not super fleshed out? They almost felt like someone writing about them from a memory of someone else talking about them instead of being someone’s brain child. I thought the twist was twisty enough and I really enjoyed the found family in Poppy’s coven. the actual magic was pretty fun. I think overall this author and i just arent besties and thats okay! 3.5⭐️ rounded down.

Very enjoyable and a fun read, loved this one and had so much fun reading it, definitely can't wait to read the rest of the series

This was a great witchy rom com that was perfect for fall! Very witty and the characters had great chemistry. A quick and easy read if you are looking to get out of a book slump!

This was the perfect cozy fantasy romance.
All the fall, halloween vibe, a cozy small town and magical shenanigans. Add in a very believable romance and relatable characters and it makes for a very enjoyable read.

What a story. Having been allowed to read this on netgalley I have since bought ALL the series in physical form! Magic, romance and humour. What else do you need?
4 star read!

A cute cozy fall read that I easily blew through. Poppy and Axl were so funny together when they bantered with each other. I loved how their relationship grew from dislike to love. I cant exactly pinpoint why this wasn't a 5 star read but it was lacking in certain areas. Overall it was a decently easy read that had me rooting for not only the couple but the FMC the whole way through.

This book has a lot of fun. As it is customary from Kate Johnson’s work, this was cute, ridiculous in a good way, sweet and romantic. The characters were complex and lovable, and that makes reading about them falling in love all the more enjoyable. Of course, one of my favorite parts was all the magic, though I could have done without the time-travelling bit. I was not a fan of that.

A little chaotic for a fall read but I enjoyed the supernatural elements. The characters were cute and fun. Solid seasonal read!

Poppy and Axl were fun. Poppy was a wee bit annoying, but still made the book fun to read. It's witchy, adventurous, and funny. I would recommend for people that enjoy witchy, just be careful because the FMC is not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

This was a lovely romance combined with some magic. It was a quick easy read and the perfect book for spooky season. I loved all of the characters and think this is a great palette cleansing book and would be great for getting you out of a reading slump.

Such a fun easy read. Really had a good time with this one and such good vibes for Sept / Oct reading months.

1.5 ⭐️
I liked the magic system here. The idea that you can do it just by having strong enough will and asking. But also that each person can have a different method, like with understanding the animals. Some hear thoughts, some see pictures, and others just know what they want.
Listen, i love a cinnamon roll love interest as much as the next person, but insta love is just not for me. Alex was very cute, and poppy falling for an illusionist was very ironic.
Chaos is a theme in this book, but unfortunately, the plot was just that. Half the time, I had no idea what was going on, and we jumped from moment to moment too quickly. The final confrontation was so easily dealt with that it's hard to believe there was ever a need to worry at all. And if the villain gave up most of their power, how were they doing all these things.
Then there's the magic hair and sentient hair. When they said hair like rapunzel, that is not what I thought they meant. (Also, not what rapunzels hair does at all). You can't seriously tell me. No one ever noticed the hair moving by itself before.
Sadly, the book just wasn't for me.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Really fun book for the autumn and cosy season. I read this book over a couple of days. I would definitely recommend it and want to read more by this author! Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a review!
