Omg this was such a cute witchy rom-com. I struggled a bit with the writing but that’s on me 3rd person romance writing is always a bit difficult for me. My favorite thing about this book was the main characters hair that was practically alive and had a mind of its own because it reminded me of my hair growing up that just did what it wanted and I’m also pretty sure ate pencils too

One beautiful summer afternoon spent with the perfect book. I found myself entering Poppy’s chaotic life. I was subjected to much romcom fun and came out the other end feeling happy, refreshed and wishing I had hair (like that!). Thank you to One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

Thanks Harper Collins & Net Galley for this Arc in return for my honest review.

I love how poppy is a witch and has magic hair like rapunzel from tangled, although I haven't read the previous book, this does stand alone just fine. The romance and time travel for finding your love was amazing. However the Romcom/Fantasy just wasn't for me as the book felt to chaotic.

Thanks to the author, HarperCollins UK, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Although I haven’t read the previous book, this standalone wasn't hard to read. I had a hard time getting into this book but after the first half it was fine. It just felt a bit chaotic to me. It felt like a romcom fantasy book and I haven't read much of those.

Things you should know about Poppy: 1. She's a witch 2. She has magical hair like Rapunzel from
Tangled 3. She lives with Iris, the head of her coven, in a beautiful, ramshackle house next to Highgate cemetery 4. She works at Hubble Bubble, a magic shop in Covent Garden. Though none of it is real magic as that would be highly irresponsible. Until... ...
Poppy accidentally sells gorgeous celebrity magician
Ax| Storm, all six-foot-four of him, a cursed pendant.
When all hell breaks loose can the guy with fake magic and the girl with real magic fix the chaos they've caused? Or will sparks fly both in and out of the cauldron?

Although I haven’t read the previous book this one stands alone just fine. This was a lot of fun with all the characters and shenanigans and gave me a couple of hours of light entertainment whilst making me smile which is something we all need!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc

loved this romance and the time travel and finding your love. I loved that they didn't really like each in the beginning but their paths kept crossing. interesting to see the mother in the book and the magic.

I really liked this quirky take on a witches life, with chaotic Poppy whose hair does it’s own thing. Add in a Viking illusionist with abs to die for and you’ve got the start of a lovely, easy read. There’s a decent story to it, written well with lots of laugh out loud moments and then see what could happen when a drunken witch gets jealous of her ex. I loved the fact that this book made me feel that there really could be witches out there, normal women with families and jobs, but ready to help a sister witch at the drop of a broomstick. Recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Hex and the City is such a heartfelt and laugh out loud rom-com! As a fan of books that circle around the idea of magic and witches this definitely has to be one of my favorites. Our FMC, Poppy, is a witch who, similar to Rapunzel in Tangled, has magical hair and powers. Our story begins to move along when Poppy sells a cursed pendant to a famous magician, Axl Storm. Now the duo must stick together in the adventure of fixing their problems. Definitely recommend if you’re looking hilarious and to get you in the mood for Halloween season. Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for this eARC!

I loved this title! I don't have quite the mane Poppy does, but as an owner of natural curls, every day is a new day and hair DOES have a mind of it's own! A wonderfully told story of misadventures and how mistakes can be the best thing ever. Loved it!

I’d like to thank NetGalley first for letting me read this amazing book!

This book has the Practical Magic vibe added in new age time and I’m here for it. We have a bi witch (happy pride everyone 🌈) and a Norse god looking mmc? Do I need to say more? This checks a lot of different boxes such as magic, a little spice, adventure, mystery and funny banter. This is a book to pick up when you need that witchy romance fix in your life.

Poppy is a chaotic bisexual witch with magical hair like Rapunzel. After the woman Poppy was dating ends their relationship in favor of a more put-together woman, Poppy gets drunk and curses a pendant in the jewelry shop where she works. Poppy intends to give the pendant to her ex, but her coworker sells it to Axl Storm, a slutty Viking magician with a rock star persona whose real name is Alex. After Alex leaves the shop with the cursed pendant, chaos breaks out in London.

Hex and the City is a hilarious and utterly absurd (in the best way) witchy story. I loved following Poppy's journey of learning to control her magic and deal with the constant chaos she finds herself in. The arc between Poppy and Alex was funny and heartfelt, with a ton of tension. The story was action-packed and fast-paced. I read it in two days.

Hex and the City is perfect for readers who like Erin Sterling and Lana Harper.

Thank you to NetGalley and Haper Collins for an early copy! All thoughts are my own.

In this book we meet Poppy, a witch who has hair like Rapunzel. She is part of a coven, lives next to a cemetery, and works at a magic shop. When Axl, a heartthrob celebrity, comes into her shop one day, she accidentally sells him a cursed pendant. Now, there is trouble and it needs to be fixed! Can real and fake magic work to achieve that goal? Will magic brew something more? This was a special book, with enchanting elements and fun witchy plotlines, great world building and characters to love. As the second book in a series, I am now determined to read the first book because this was such a delight!

This was such a fun read! Witches, time-travel, magical hair, and a hot MMC. This book is the love child of Scooby-Doo and Just My Luck (the early 2000s classic starring Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine). Let's be realistic though-the plot was CRAZY! Suspending your disbelief is KEY to enjoying this book. There were points in this book where I laughed out loud at some of the scenarios or dialogue.

Poppy is a witch that chaos seems to follow. She has magical Rapunzel hair and lives in a grand house with her coven. Axl is a stage magician with a rigorous gym routine and secrets in his past. This book follows their adventures through modern day London and London of the past.

Illusionist Alex and witch Poppy's paths cross when he has purchased a necklace she believes she has unintentionally cursed. In trying to fix the situation, chaos ensues, which is sort of Poppy's MO. Is it chaos of her own making, or is there something bigger going on? Poppy and Alex go on a journey of dealing with their pasts, figuring out who they are, and deciding who they want to be.

Alex and Poppy are entertaining and steamy together. I loved Poppy's sentient hair, but maybe I didn't need Alex calling her Rapunzel all the time. The middle section felt a bit slow, but things picked up at the end. I found myself frustrated with Poppy's family. Overall, I enjoyed the story and characters.

Hex and the City by Kate Johnson is another magical romance.
A wickedly funny, charming and enjoyable read.
I loved so many things about this book… the witty banter between Poppy and Axl. Absolutely brilliant. I had so many laugh out loud moments.

Loved Hex and the City. It was cute, sexy, funny, witchy and hexy. Loved Poppy and Alex. Did not expect some of the twists.

Can't wait to read more by Kate Johnson.

Absolutely loved this super sexy hexy witchy romance. There's absolutely nothing predictable about this story with constant twists and turns, it's a fast paced tale that I simply couldn't put down. Funny, clever and so original. I really liked that Alex wasn't your archetypal hero - there was a vulnerability to him which was endearing without being wimpy and Poppy was brilliant - especially the hair! I'm a big fan of Kate Johnson's writing and this is her at her best. Wonderful book.
