I received an e-arc of Hex & The City by Kate Johnson from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much for my copy!
As soon as I saw that the main character had "Rapunzel hair" I was immediately sold! Hex & The City is a very sweet, fun and lighthearted read. I loved the magic elements and the chemistry between Poppy & Axl was great! There were some great twists and turns that I didn't see coming and it was a fun, fast paced read! The only downside for me was that it felt a little long in places which kind of took me out of the story but overall it was a fun read!

Honestly wasn’t a fan, I was super excited for it but I couldn’t get into it and think I was thrown off by the British style of writing.

I enjoyed this one but the buildup felt slow to me. Not quite as light hearted as I was expecting. Really enjoyed Poppy and her magic.

Not impressed with the writing of this book tbh. The spice seemed like it was from WattPad, and the FMC came across as chaotic and pretentious vs quirky.

I recently had the pleasure of delving into this book, and I am beyond impressed with the mesmerizing world that the author has crafted. From start to finish, the intricate plot weaves a tapestry of suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists that kept me eagerly turning the pages.
One of the standout features of this book is undoubtedly its characters. Each one is meticulously developed, breathing life into the narrative with their unique personalities, motivations, and flaws. The protagonists are not just names on paper; they are relatable, complex individuals with whom readers can form a genuine connection. The antagonist, too, is not a mere foil but a multi-dimensional force that adds depth to the story. The author's ability to create such well-rounded characters is a testament to their storytelling prowess.
The plot unfolds seamlessly, drawing the reader into a richly layered narrative that expertly balances tension, drama, and moments of poignant reflection. The pacing is impeccable, maintaining a perfect rhythm that keeps the reader engaged without sacrificing the depth of the story. The author skillfully navigates through various plot arcs, interweaving them with finesse to create a cohesive and satisfying whole.
What sets this book apart is its ability to tackle profound themes while maintaining an accessible and engaging narrative. The book seamlessly combines suspense and emotional depth, making it a truly immersive experience. The author's prose is both elegant and evocative, painting vivid imagery that lingers in the reader's mind long after the final page is turned.
As I reached the conclusion, I found myself yearning for more from this talented author. Their ability to craft a gripping plot and bring characters to life is truly commendable. I eagerly anticipate future works and would wholeheartedly recommend this book to any reader who appreciates a masterfully told tale. If you're searching for a book that seamlessly blends captivating characters with a compelling plot, this is a shining example. I can't wait to explore more literary worlds crafted by this exceptional storyteller.

This book felt like it was trying to do a lot in a way that didn’t make sense. The characters are each quite unique, but it took away from the plot. The insta love trope is not my jam. I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was such a cute witchy read, absolutely perfect for autumn. Everything about this screamed sex and the city mixed with Hocus Pocus and I ate it up!! This was fast paced and such a page turner. Not only was the plot entertaining but I throughly enjoyed the two main characters Poppy and Alex. Poppy has magical rapunzel hair which has a mind of its own and I thought that was such a good touch to the story. This was an all round lighthearted cozy read.

Thank you, Netgalley, the author, and One More Chapter for the gifted e-book/audiobook! ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.
Read this book if you like: Witchy reads
Ugh. Witchy books are some of my favorite reads. This was not it for me. There are so many weird, unnecessary things in here. I enjoy chaotic, but this was too much.

This was CUTE. I love the magical realism genre that is huge in books right now. It's so nice reading a fantasy story without having to learn a whole new world. Kate Johnson did a great job of this and I also really enjoyed the romance element.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

Johnson bringing out all the dark fall vibes again! I ate this one up and left no crumbs. Think Sex and the City with a big ole dollop of Hocus Pocus.
Johnson did an amazing job intertwining the dark atmosphere with the characters sarcastic humor. I always enjoy a romance that contains a story line and a dash of character growth through out. I got exactly that with Polly and Axl. These characters are vulnerable and it was such a joy watching them work together to overcome their insecurities (and sometimes each other)
I look forward to reading Johnson’s next book!

I first discovered Kate Johnson many years ago and eagerly devoured every new release (or release in the case of Sophie!). Love her style and humour. Hex and the City is the second instalment in a series (although you can most definitely read as a standalone!)
Brilliant hilarious magical romance full of adventure and chaos focusing on Alex an illusionist who was sold a cursed necklace by Poppy. Together they try to reverse the curse.
Thank you the Netgalley and the publishes for an ARC- absolutely loved it.

Cute witchy romance. Poppy's hair was an amusing character. Poppy and Alex were sweet and I’m happy that they both figured themselves out. Overall, a nice way to spend a few hours.
Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, One More Chapter, and Kate Johnson for the eARC.

This was disappointing. Poppy is a "quirky" witch that is followed by chaos. She is just immature and not so bright. Alex is a magician/illusionist with self esteem issues and yet objectifying his body is a huge part of Poppy's attraction to him. It had too much going on. The instant making out after barely knowing each other after a pretty intense situation happened was unappealing. The villain was also super gross for their actions.

*witchy
*time travel
*magic
This story follows Poppy and she is a witch with long rapunzel hair. She made an oopsie and sold a pendant to someone she shouldn't have.
The storyline is funny, lighthearted and entertaining. It also comes with a few twists and turns. The writing is done well and the flow seemed as it should.
This is not my typical genre so I did feel a little off kilter, but I did enjoy it nonetheless. Ultimately, it will be somewhat forgettable to me but I enjoyed it in the moment.

This was an average fall read. Started a bit chaotic. Lots of information crammed into a few chapters. I did even out and became enjoyable. I did like the family dynamic of her friends but just didn't feel the chemistry between Poppy and Axl.

I thoroughly enjoyed Kate Johnson’s Hex Appeal so had no doubt that this book it tick all the boxes.
There were some parts of the story that you had to suspend belief for a moment to appreciate, I’m looking at you time travel to the Great Fire of London chapter.
I loved the characters of Poppy and Alex and their relationship blooming was very sweet.
Big love to Poppy’s parents for accepting her for all her unique qualities and never once trying to change who she was.
Most definitely looking forward to more books by this author.

This was a genre I recently got into and loved reading this book. I like the witchy vibes in a real-world setting - it is a good place to start tp ease into fantasy.

Poppy is a witch who accidentally curses a necklace that a handsome magician buys then it ensues chaos and wild things keep happening to her and the magician.
This book was a great time, I liked the characters and the real life problems amongst the fantasy. The chapters were really long and the story was a little slow at times but over all I enjoyed it. I loved the cameo of characters from the first book.

These types of books are becoming my favourite! It was laugh out loud funny and a proper rom com complete with witches and magic - I loved it!
It was wholesome and sexy, gave the right amount of each and just had cosy vibes. I read it in one sitting as it kept me smiling page after page. It was an idyllic escape from reality!

I was really intrigued by the blurb. I was excited to read about witches, curses, and a magic shop, but, unfortunately, it took me quite a while to get into the story and start to enjoy it. I enjoyed the magic and time travel and, halfway through the story, I also started liking the characters so that I rushed through the end to see how it would end. All in all, this is an entertaining paranormal romance and I liked how the characters and the story developed in the end.
