I was gripped until about 20 percent.

We do live in a terrible world, there are terrible people in it but this book is beyond belief, there were so SO many red flags and yet still Laura returns to this aggressive man she has no need to be with, she’s not even interested in him but puts her and her unborn child in danger.

No friends step in, despite them being able to.

Writing like this makes women look awful.

This was an easy binge read! Found myself reaching for my kindle often to try and squeeze in more chapters when I couldn’t just sit and binge. Some aspects seemed a little far fetched but it was entertaining! Thanks for the early read to the authors and NetGalley!

Previously I have enjoyed every novel by this author and am sorry to say on this occasion this book just didn’t interest me at all. I gave up at 32% I just did not find it a good read it felt very forced and each page seemed almost predictable I am not sure whether it’s because it’s a joint venture with another author but for me it didn’t work.

Laura thought she found a great guy after he saved her from being trampled in a crowd in New York. They had drinks and then had a one night stand. Once they go on a real date, Laura realizes Ethan isn’t what she thought and decides to move on.

When Laura realizes she’s pregnant, Ethan is great at first but then becomes controlling. She starts to suspect that he’s behind everything that’s going wrong in her life. What lengths will Ethan go to to make sure Laura does what he wants?

I liked the beginning of the book but then it started to fall a bit flat for me. It had a lot of filler that seemed like it was meant to draw out the suspense but it just made the book longer than necessary. I wasn’t a fan of the ending either. I’d still recommend trying this book and I’ll be reading more books from these authors.

Thank you Victory Editing for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Nice Guy will be available May 30, 2023!

I've read a few books by Sarah A. Denzil and I really liked them. So, when this book became available on Netgalley I didn't hesitate and I'm glad to have done that - this is an absolute great thriller! I received it from Victory Editing NGC via Netgalley and it'll be out on the 30th of May.

We follow Laura who meets Ethan on a women's march. They hit it off but she gets some red flags with specific things Ethan does. So she breaks with him. Then, things start to happen ending in her being stalked. It gets horrible at some point - even up to the point of life or death.

The few main characters are great - worked out well and clearly described with all the flaws they have.
The story is, at first, one in a dozen, but it evolves into a brilliantly written thriller. The ending is absolutely amazing.

5/5⭐

This book just solidified the reason why I don't date. When Laura is at a march for women's rights with her friend, the crowd turns nasty, and Laura is separated from her friend and almost crushed to death before Ethan swoops in and saves her. With tensions running high and adrenaline coursing through them both, it's no wonder they share a steamy night together. However, Ethan's personality undergoes a drastic change, and Laura is turned off by his possessive and demanding text messages. She ends things and starts having some difficulties in her personal life. She soon finds out she's pregnant from her regretful one-night stand, so she reluctantly contacts Ethan again.

Bad decision.

Ethan tries to control every aspect of her pregnancy, and that isn't bad enough, his mother is just as demanding and controlling as he is. When her son is born, Laura knows she will do anything to protect him from his father and grandmother.

This was a fast-paced, gripping thriller about the ugly side of domestic violence that isn't talked about enough, which is the emotional and verbal abuse. Ethan's character was expertly crafted in that he wasn't a total sociopath all the time, leaving the reader wondering why Laura couldn't see the signs. What's tragic is, she saw the signs too late, BUT she had a strong sense of self-worth that allowed her to avoid the vicious cycle that victims usually end up in. Your heart will break for her, and you'll be cheering her on until the bitter end.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Victory Editing for this early read. THE NICE GUY will publish May 30, 2023.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for allowing me to preview this title.
This is one of the best domestic thrillers I have read in some time. The suspense keeps you interested from prologue to epilogue. Laura thinks she has met a man that is too good to be true, until he begins to show red flags after their initial night together after he performs a courageous act in helping her. She finds herself pregnant with his child and finds out that Ethan may not be the nice guy he puts on to be. I would definitely suggest this book to my fellow readers when it comes out at the end of this month.

Thanm you to Netgalley and rhe publishers for providing me an ARC to review

2 stars!

I liked how this started despite some things makes me go hmmmm straight away, I still went for it. But for me the book felt like it went on longer than necessary. Also one scene towards the end was meant to be a OMG! Reveal but I actually laughed out loud. Would have been much better if the book ended after the supposed ending.

Someone else might love this more than I did but was entertaining to read.

Perfect book to read on his rainy day. 2 authors one that I'm very familiar with and over her books and another to now keep on the radar.
I loved this book as much as it's scary and true you just never know the true colors of someone. You hoe that Nice Guy you meet will be just that..
Just enough madness to the writing where I found myself devouring this book.
Perfect ending.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

This was quite a good book with just the right amount of tension . There weren’t any surprises though and it was a bit of a predictable storyline . It still deserved 4 stars as it was well written and I loved the main character. 4 stars from me

A one night stand turns into complete hell for our main character. She winds up pregnant and Ethan the dad is a total psycho. I think the book could have been a little shorter without all the filler in the last few chapters. The suspense was definitely on though!

This was a great premise, I was surprised by how early on Ethan's true colours were shown, so it took a different turn to the usual psychological thrillers. Unfortunately from then on it turned very flat, I ended up skimming the last 70 pages as it should have ended earlier. The last part felt very unbelievable and was written for the sake of having a twist. I'd still read this authors other work, I've read her books previously and loved them!

this title by Denzil would have to be one of my least favorites, in all honesty. It was engaging, suspenseful until it really entered the realm of unbelievability. Again, the writing was great, as always. The story & the lengths it leapt was the problem for me. I'm sure she'll redeem herself in no time.

What a ride. The character development was great and there were so many stressful moments it was almost hard to read but at the same time you have to read because you want to know what happens next. Well done!!!

Oh this book droned on for me a little bit and I felt that alot if the book was unnecessary filler. Basically girl meets guy, thinks he's great, sleeps with him on the first night, goes out on an actual date with him later in the week, finds out he's not so hot, she finds out she's pregnant, he steps up but then transpired that's he's a nasty piece of work. It was a bit predictable too.

When Laura meets Ethan after he saved her from nearly being trampled, she thought she’d met a great man. They end up sleeping together the first day and going on a date later in the week. Laura quickly realizes that Ethan isn’t as great as she thought and attempts to break things off. Finally Ethan moves on and then Laura finds out she’s pregnant and decides to keep the baby. Ethan is overjoyed at first but quickly tries to control Laura’s every move.
This book was a decent read, it seemed to drone on at parts and the ending was anticlimactic.

Just wow!

First of all I want to say I was super excited to read this ARC from NetGalley because I am a big fan of author Sarah A Denzil. Thank you for allowing me to read this one!!

Laura meets Ethan, the perfect guy, and has a one night stand. They attempt a date but she gets the wrong vibes from him and breaks it off. She finds out she’s pregnant and tries to include him in her child’s life, and he turns out to be even worse than she ever could have expected.

Laura is a relatable and likeable character and you can’t help but feel her stress throughout this book. If you’ve ever known someone who is controlling and manipulative like Ethan, this book really hits home. This book is INTENSE! Well written and will leave you on the edge of your seat! I couldn’t put it down!

This book made me want to stay single for life. If you are triggered by stories involving domestic violence, gaslighting or aggressive and manipulating relationships, look away now!

Sweet innocent Laura throws caution to the wind and enjoys a one night stand with nice guy Ethan, who quite literally sweeps her off her feet. The next day he takes her on a proper first date, and she immediately notices a few red flags. She wisely declines any further dates and I was cheering. Usually, women are written as sympathetic and almost always give the guy a second chance when their gut is screaming at them to run a mile. Laura's response was refreshing. Unfortunately, several weeks pass and she discovers she is pregnant with Ethan's child.

This book had me sweating the whole way through. Scarily, this could be an all too real situation for many women. If you're too nice, men treat you like an idiot and walk all over you. If you make yourself clear about boundaries, the woman is being a difficult bitch. Add mummy dearest into the mix and I was ready to catch a flight to England too!

Things just kept getting worse for Laura and I honestly couldn't see how she was going to get out of this situation. There were a few time jumps that kept the story moving but then we got to the final part. After an entirely plausible storyline came the ending, which was so far fetched and almost unnecessary. I would've loved it to have ended a little earlier with a cleaner ending. If you like a little 'Hush' meets 'Rosemary's Baby' then this ones for you. I'll be reading more Sarah A. Denzil books in the future.

**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing my review copy via Netgalley.

It's not often that a book digs into my brain and gives me so much anxiety for the main character, but this one did! As I read "The Nice Guy," by Sarah A Denzil, I felt like I was reading an episode of a "Criminal Minds" episode. I found myself loudly sighing and saying, "Oh nooo" as I progressed in the story.

Laura could easily be any of us. After all, how many times have we ignored red flags for the sake of affection and attention? I love that this author can make characters seem so real and in true situations. I really felt every horrible thing as if I were in the story going through the thick of it alongside Laura and the other characters that are involved.

I highly recommend this book. I was truly amazed at the story, and it's one that has stuck with me long after the last page. Some things are too good to be true.

Oh, boy. I was really enjoying this read up until the almost absolute very end where it just became ridiculous. I still enjoyed reading it, but it became a bit absurd is all. Great book for those who enjoy psychological thrillers and super twisty turns.
