I enjoyed this one, although it was not exactly what I thought it was going to be! From the summary of the book I would not have predicted where this story was going to go. In the beginning I liked Laura a lot, she was strong and independent and she was picking up on ALL the red flags that this guy was putting down. This left me thinking... how is this going to go if she knows that he's horrible?? Unfortunately this did have a trope quite early on in it that I personally don't like, and that I know many many other people on Bookstagram do not like too. But I gave it a chance and kept going, and it was a good story.
Ethan was CRAZY. That's not a spoiler, as you can tell from the summary that he is not going to turn out to be a 'nice guy'. His mood swings were intense and the MC constantly described him as 'Jekyll and Hyde' which I definitely agree with. I liked Jessa, Laura's best friend. It was good that she had a friend because she had moved to New York from England and didn't have many friends or any family.
I can't really say too much about this book without accidentally giving the whole plot away. This had a lot less action and creepiness than I was expecting, and the weird things that started happening to Laura were very clearly Ethan, but she never really found any evidence or anything to show that until later on. I was expecting this to be like the MC thinks this guy is perfect but weird things start happening and then she realises it was him all along. This was not exactly like I thought it would be, but in the end it was still a story of a strong woman. This was very much a domestic thriller, so if you like that sort of thriller I would definitely recommend this.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me with the ARC!
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this novel, but WOW.
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC of The Stranger In Our House by Sarah A. Denzil from NetGalley, and I was blown away by the writing style and originality of the story. So, when I saw The Nice Guy on NetGalley, I had to request it.
The authors of this book did such a fantastic job of depicting manipulation and emotional abuse. I can’t remember the last book that made me so angry to the point I had to put it down and take a few deep breaths. This book made me do that. A lot.
I loved Laura’s character, and all of her flaws made her even more loveable. I’ve already seen other reviews calling her character “stupid” and that her decisions made readers angry. Let’s get something straight about this book: if your anger is directed at Laura and not Ethan (and the media), you’ve missed the entire point of this book. Laura’s character is thoughtful, caring, and selfless - her entire focus is on her child and what she thinks is best for their wellbeing. She wants to be able to give her child something that she never had: a relationship with their father. Is Ethan the best option? No. Is he the child’s father, regardless? Yes. This story is an extremely emotional journey of Laura coming to the realization that maybe not having the father present is better than having a manipulative, psychotic father present.
I’ve also seen reviews saying it’s “extreme” and “unrealistic.” So, here’s a question for you to end on: Just because the plotline/story of a book is extreme, does that make the general idea of it (in this case, a woman in a position of being manipulated, emotionally abused, and taken advantage of) unrealistic? Maybe, just maybe, the book is extreme on purpose to make you frustrated and take action against injustice within society.

I wanted to like this book but I unfortunately did not. I found the characters to be unlikeable. Ethan’s controlling behavior was awful and just gave me anxiety the whole time I was reading the book. I’m a big fan of thrillers but I just had a hard time with this one and didn’t find it enjoyable to read. Thank you NetGalley, Sarah and Victory Editing for the ARC!

I have read 15 previous books by Sarah A Denzil and enjoyed them all so was delighted to explore thanks to NetGalley how her collaboration with SL Harker would work. We soon discover that The Nice Guy really is not that nice and the book takes us through a cleverly constructed plot that begs the reader not to put the book down. Having enjoyed Sarah A Denzil books for a while I have to say that the collaboration with SL Harker has produced perhaps an even more enjoyable read than I perhaps anticipated with it s setting mainly in America but with English characters included I guess it adds to the appeal both sides of the channel I thoroughly recommend this book.

This was my first book by Sarah Denzil. I was very intrigued by the cover itself, as well as the plot synopsis. However, I did not connect with any of the characters in this. I also found that the BFFs comments were very immature and annoying. I wanted to love this one but unfortunately I didn’t.

The Nice Guy by Sarah a. Denzil was definitely a great read. Kind of obvious as to what is going to happen next but the ending was a bit of a surprise. Sarah is a very talented author I always look forward to her new books. Her in depth, descriptive writing had me hanging on til the very last sentence. If you enjoy thrillers don't miss out on the nice guy by Sarah a. Denzil this summer!

My very first read by this author but it won't be my last. 5-star! What a twisty page turner! This book shows the desperate measures that a mother will go to in order to save her child! My heart was pounding. I was chewing my nails. I've never wanted a bad gy to die so badly. It was truly amazing! Thank you for the opportunity to preview this book!

The Nice Guy by Sarah A. Denzil is a thrilling read that had me hooked from the start. The author does an excellent job of building suspense and creating an atmosphere of unease that had me on the edge of my seat. The beginning of the book was particularly gripping and set a high standard for the rest of the story.
However, the middle of the book did slow down a bit, which made it harder to maintain the same level of engagement. That being said, I still found this section interesting, as it helped build the story and set the stage for the thrilling conclusion. It even kept me gripped while in hospital for the day. I was able to ignore all other distractions and read, something I usually struggle with.
Parts 3 and 4 of the book were absolutely fantastic, and I couldn't put the book down. The pacing picked up, and the tension increased, which kept me invested in the story until the very end.
While Laura, the protagonist, wasn't the most likeable character, I did find her journey to be compelling. She was quick to judge, which could be frustrating at times, but her eventual validation made for a satisfying conclusion to her character arc.
Overall, The Nice Guy is a great read that will keep you entertained and engaged. While there are some slow parts, the thrilling ending makes it all worth it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspenseful story.

This was an edge of your seat suspense that I couldn't put down! It wasn't as dark as some of Sarah A. Denzil's other books which might be a good thing for some people. Loved the writing, loved the characters, loved it!

The Nice Guy by Sarah A. Denzil was a wild ride. The story follows Laura, who thinks she's found the perfect man in Ethan after he saves her from a chaotic crowd on the Brooklyn Bridge. They have a passionate night together, and Laura finds herself pregnant, which is a miracle considering her past fertility issues. At first, Ethan is everything she ever wanted in a partner and father for her child. However, things take a dark turn as Ethan becomes increasingly controlling and obsessive.
I loved the twists and turns in this book. As someone who reads a lot of thrillers, I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. The characters were well-written, and I found myself really rooting for Laura, who was relatable and strong. Ethan's mother was also a standout character for me, as she had some unexpected actions that kept me hooked.
Each chapter flowed naturally, and I found myself devouring the book in one sitting. If you're a fan of thrillers, I definitely recommend The Nice Guy. ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op.

Oh my goodness gracious!!! This was an amazing book. 2 authors joined together to write this absolutely suspensful story. I read a lot of thrillers, so when I say this one had me at the edge of my seat with a racing heart, I mean it LOL !! Laura, our main character, is attending a women's march with her friend Jessa when the crowd gets out of control and Laura ends up on the ground being trampled upon. Out of nowhere comes this nice guy who lifts her up and carries her to safety. And oh boy. She probably would've been better off being trampled. The nice guy is, of course nice for a bit. Then all hell breaks loose. The twists in this story are remarkable. The big twist towards the end had me almost falling on the floor. This one gets five shiny stars without a doubt. I highly recommend it. I totally enjoyed reading this and highly recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. I truly appreciate it.

A quick paced, unnerving and tense thriller. I wasn't blown away by this, I don't think its the best thriller I've ever read but overall it is a solid domestic thriller and it is worth reading.

THE NICE GUY was a great read! The plot drew me in quickly and kept me interested. It wasn’t a super twisty thriller, but it was compelling, well written, and entertaining. Would read more from these authors!

The Nice guy tells the modern tale of girl meets guy, guy saves girl, all hell breaks loose.
Ethan is not a nice guy. That's not a spoiler. There is actually really nothing to be spoiled as this is mostly a psychological suspense. There is not really any twists and turns as we know the whole time that Ethan is psychotic and won't leave Laura alone. The story kept me interested and it was an enjoyable read. It was pretty straightforward and I think I was waiting for something else to happen. Ethan is so over the top crazy and there really is no explanation for it- I kept thinking maybe something was going to come out as a giant twist in the book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!!! This is a really good book. Very well written. There are lots of twists and turns to keep your interest. I will definitely be reading more by this author. The only negative I have about the book is that I would have liked to have had a definitive ending to the heroines story. She deserved it after everything she had been through.

First time reading a book from either of the authors. And I enjoyed it, couldn't put it down.. Laura meets a handsome to good to be true man called Ethan..
So many red flags from the first couple chapters.. Laura then becomes pregnant with Ethan's baby and things take a bitter turn..
A story of a mother protecting her child and people she loves within her life..
Each page turn kept me wanting more, to know what happened next.
An easy read and a page turner (which I love.) If you enjoy domestic thrillers at a fast pace I highly recommend this book!

I really did not enjoy this book at all. It lacked the suspense and thrill of the author’s previous books. The characters were rather annoying and the dialogue came across as awkward.

Laura is pregnant after a one-night stand with Ethan. After moving to New York from England Laura joined a woman’s march where Ethan saved her from being stampeded by the crowd. After one date Laura decided Ethan was manipulative and controlling. Unfortunately, the pregnancy brought Ethan back into her life. He’s not who she would pick for the babies father, but she decides a few rules might do the trick.

Sarah A Denzil is one of my favorite authors. Anytime a new book is released I’m there to one-click it. I requested The Nice Guy on Netgalley and have to say this one reads differently from her other work. I’m certain it’s because it’s co-written with another author whom I’m unfamiliar with.
…
The book has a built in curiosity feeling especially since Ethan has a peculiar personality. Sarah mentioned how much she enjoyed writing about a villain. Ethan certainly has villainous traits. It’s quite interesting reading about Ethan’s controlling behavior in this type of situation. Usually when reading romance books men are controlling in the bedroom. This isn’t that type of control. A word of advice take it at face value.
…
I held myself back on this one. I was in disbelief that Ethan was this controlling abusive man. I kept waiting for a twist to change the outcome. Had I just accepted the concept I might’ve had different feelings about the book. It just seemed too straight forward. I had preconceived ideas of something darker or more sinister. I got my wish a little towards the tale end of the book.
…
The cover design of The Good Guy is stunning. It’s definitely a show stopper.

When Laura is rescued from being crushed by a crowd during a women’s March by Ethan, she thought that she met the one nice guy in New York. This perfect rom-com meet cute leads to a passionate night, which results in Laura becoming pregnant. Soon Ethan’s nice guy persona starts to slip and is replaced with a controlling, demanding and obsessive sociopath. Can Laura save her baby before it’s too late.
This was a quick paced, quick read that kept me guessing until the end. I sympathized with Laura. I give this book 3.5 red flags/ 5. Thanks NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

An exciting thriller read with twists that keep you guessing till the end! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
