Loved loved loved this Fizzy was my favorite character from The Soulmate Equation so I was thrilled she was getting her own book. Loved the premise of 'Bachelorette' type show nd the swoon-worthy ending.

Christina Lauren is a main stay in romance and they pretty much have something for everyone. This was an entertaining and fun rom com that delivered on the swoon and spice.

It seems that every Christina Lauren book I read is a hit for me! This was my favourite one so far and I was so excited when I received this ARC on NetGalley from Little Brown Book Group. As I’ve previously said, I am a bit behind on ARC reading because I’ve been very ill during the past couple of months and have been struggling to read. I was so glad to finally get to this one though!
This is a companion book to The Soulmate Equation but can be read as a standalone because it gives enough background information in my opinion (would still definitely read The Soulmate Equation though!). Fizzy is a popular romance author who has lost all hope of finding any kind of romantic/sexual connection with anyone since her bad breakup. Connor is a producer at a small company making documentaries on nature and conservation when his boss decides to “shake things up” and sets him the task of producing a reality dating show to boost network ratings. As a single Dad, he can’t say no because this company is his only option of work in the area where his daughter lives with his ex wife and so begrudgingly he sets about his task. He decides to cast Fizzy as the lead in a bachelorette style show where she dates eight men with romantic “hero archetypes” and the audience picks who she ends up with. The twist? All of the eight men will take the DNADuo test and will have different levels of compatibility with Fizzy, only she won’t know the scores until the end. Connor and Fizzy really don’t hit it off at first but as they begin to work together, they get closer and soon they start to realise that they have very forbidden feelings for each other.
This was just perfect. First of all, Connor loves Salem’s Lot which proves he has impeccable taste in my opinion. Not only that but he was such a good Dad and respectful sweetheart. Fizzy is such a beautiful human as well, I loved her in The Soulmate Equation and I loved her in this. She’s so funny and some of her one liners had me wheezing. I think it was really cool that this one was in first person rather than third person like The Soulmate Equation, it was dual POV and allowed us to really get inside these characters heads which really benefited this plot line. I think mutual pining needs a dual POV. Also can we talk about that ending? I SOBBED.
The communication between these two was on point, they were honest about their feelings from the start and that made for a more enjoyable story. We got to see Jess, River and Juno again! River and Fizzy’s interactions were just hilarious. I really love Jess and Fizzy’s friendship, they really are each other’s ride or die. The authors also explored the prejudices that romance authors and romance readers face as well which I appreciated. Fizzy is constantly looked down upon and not seen as a “real author” because she writes romance and I loved the dialogue about how romance is rightfully a genre and deserves its place on bestseller lists and people’s bookshelves because it does.
My only nitpicky thing is that I really don’t think Fizzy should have been made to feel so bad about her reaction to a certain thing if you know what I mean because Connor knew how she felt about “that certain thing” so how did he expect her to react?
Anyways, still going to give this five stars because those “problem” that I had really was a little nitpicky and I loved this, I love Christina Lauren. I also have a sneaky suspicion that Wonderland (the band in the book) is based on BTS because I know Christina Lauren are ARMY (they thanked them again in this book and it made me so happy!) and that just made it for me really. This was released on 16th May so you can grab it now!

4.5 🌟
This book is totally swoon worthy. I think it is so hard to create an interesting story where readers already know the outcome but Christina Lauren manages it so easily. The chemistry that Fizzy and Connor have is undeniable. You can picture them clear as day and really feel what they feel.
Would definitely recommend!

The True Love Experiment follows on from The Soulmate Equation. This time Fizzy is one of our main characters. She unknowingly gets scouted for a new TV show and then gives the producer - our other main character Connor a run for his money.
The story centres around the TV show with Fizzy dealing out a lost unreasonable commands just to see what lengths Connor will go to, to protect his show. It’s hilarious to see especially with the tie in of romance novel hero-types and how these were perceived through Connor’s eyes. While filming, the pair grow closer and the original attraction has sparks flying between Connor and Fizzy in a will they/won’t they twist.
We’ve always been fans of Christina Lauren, particularly the Beautiful series and Wild Seasons series. When it comes to standalone The Unhoneymooners is our favourite and it’s a tough act to follow but I think The True Love Experiment might be a contender!
If you’re a fan of reality shows like Love Island or The Bachelor I think you’ll probably quite like this!

Thank you to Netgalley for gifting me this arc copy of The True Love Experiment. Now I wasn't a fan of The Soulmate Equation so I wasn't sure going into this book, if I'd enjoy it like I did The Unhoneymooners.
It was okay! Packed with fun, romance tropes and a lot of flirty laughs along the way. I didn't enjoy the British-isms from the MMC unfortunately, as they were way too over the top.

My favourite Christina Lauren book to date! I loved the relationship between Fizzy and Connor. I was giggling and kicking my feet so many times throughout the book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review – The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
If you’re looking for a fun, romantic read that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside, then look no further than The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren. This spin-off story of The Soulmate Equation is a breath of fresh air with wonderful expansion on existing side characters and familiar faces popping in from time to time.
The novel follows Fizzy and Connor’s story, and I found myself rooting for them from the very beginning. Fizzy is a brilliant scientist who is struggling to balance her work and personal life. Connor is a charming bartender who is trying to find his place in the world. When they meet, sparks fly, and readers are taken on a journey full of laughter, love, and heartache.
The funny moments left me laughing out loud, and the spicy scenes made me blush. But what really stood out to me was how much I cared about Fizzy and Connor. I felt pangs in my heart when things weren’t working out for our dynamic duo, and I cheered them on when they finally found their happily ever after.
One of the things that stood out to me about this book was the open communication present between the characters. It felt like a love letter to romance readers and romance writers finding their happy endings. The authors did an excellent job of portraying a healthy and supportive romantic relationship, which is something that is often lacking in the romance genre, while still playing up to the favourite tropes prevalent in most novels.
I’ve decided to highlight the story of Fizzy and Connor against a backdrop of other favourite romcoms that are at the top of my favourites list, not only because of Pink Wednesdays, but also because of how pertinent romance novels are to this story, and Fizzy’s character in general.
Overall, I highly recommend The True Love Experiment as a standalone or a sequel for anyone not yet familiar with Christina Lauren and their work. It’s a five-star read that will leave you with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart.

The minute I see that a new Christina Lauren book is on the way, I know that it will be shooting to the top of my TBR as soon as it is released. It was no different with the release of The True Love Experiment and I’m so glad I picked it up right away, as it is incredible.
Fizzy is lost, although she has an incredible career as a romance novelist it has hit her, she hasn’t been practising what she’s preached. Connor, a documentary filmmaker and single father, loves his job or so he thought until his boss orders him to make a reality TV show. Desperate to find his romantic lead, a chance run-in with Fizzy offers Connor the perfect solution. Hopefully, he can show the queen of romance falling head-over-heels. But, when production on The True Love Experiment begins, Connor wonders if he will ever find his perfect match too.
I absolutely adore the premise of this book. As someone who has spent hours of her life watching reality TV dating shows I was instantly interested. Then, when I found out the lead in the TV show falls for the show’s producer I was even more intrigued.
I love Fizzy and Connor both individually and as a pair. Fizzy is such a hilarious main character and I liked her instantly. She is sex-positive, full of humour and it was wonderful to watch her find her own joy throughout this book. Connor is the perfect love interest. He is caring, open, honest and another character I liked immediately.
Watching the chemistry build between Fizzy and Connor was amazing. The flirting and humour they both shared had me laughing out loud at times. There were so many moments throughout this book that made my heart swell and I loved it.
Christina Lauren has written a love letter to all romance fans with The True Love Experiment. Every time I read one of their books I love it even more than the last and this one is most certainly now my favourite by the writing pair. It is perfect for those who love found family, friends-to-lovers, reality TV, humour and romance.
Overall, I cannot recommend The True Love Experiment enough! It is funny, heart-warming and perfect for romance and dating TV show fans. Christina Lauren has done it again and I can’t wait for their next book. In the meantime, give this one a read!

I love this book it is spin off to the soulmate equation.
This book is told from a dual perspective we get into both their heads in alternating chapters. I loved the reality tv aspect it immediately appealed to me and the chemistry, banter and fun that is standard in a Christina Lauren book is so engaging. I loved Jess and Rivers cameo’s and the side characters which added so much to the storyline. This book was a pure delight and the ode to romance novels was genius. The ending was just perfect. Definitely the perfect summer read,

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-Arc.
I am so tempted to give up on christina Lauren books, this is my third now and I’m just not feeling it.
This didn’t draw me in and i didnt enjoy any of the characters😩

A huge thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this one!
This was my second Christina Lauren novel and I really enjoyed
In this our main character Felicity who is a beloved romance author realises she is struggling to right her next book because she herself has never actually been in love, that is until she is approached by hunky filmmaker Connor who asks her if she'd be interested in starring in a reality TV dating show, reluctantly agreeing she soon realises the spark may actually be with the director and not the cast
This was a very fun little novel, Felicity and Connor were both very likeable characters & I enjoyed the element of them not really being allowed to explore each other when that's really exactly what we want, there's a lot of chemistry and sexual tension which is definitely enjoyable to read!
I think it's definitely a good one to pick up if you're looking for a fun and flirty summer romance, the concept was something I'd not read before in a romance novel so I really enjoyed that, especially as a lover of reality TV myself, I also hadn't realised this was a sequel to the soul mate equation, so if you havnt picked that one up, I don't think it's crucial to have read it first

I am SOOOO late to the Christina Lauren game. For months I have heard lots of amazing things about this author duo and now I am just so angry at myself for not jumping on the bandwagon sooner. This book is great! A fun, emotional, interesting read. Full of booktok's favourite tropes this book had me gripped from the word go. I listened to the audiobook alongside reading the book and I have to say, they nailed the audio narrators too! If this isn't on peoples to be read piles this summer, then they are missing out!

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren is such a lovely and amazing story and another masterpiece by the authors. They have never managed to surprise me with such a great story. All in all, I highly recommend everyone to read this book. It's cute, sweet and a really amazing story.

I love CL but something wilder did not do it for me, I never even finished it, but the duo are back on top form with TTLE! Not my all time fav of theirs but a classic, really fun, sexy romcom with an interesting premise and likeable characters! Love the British mmc and all his little references, made my Brit heart happy and Fizzy is such a fun fmc, she’s strong and independent but turns a bit soppy when she falls in love and it was nice to see that side of her.

A definite hit for me! I really enjoyed the novel's basic concept - FMC writer Fizzy (who appeared previously in "The Soulmate Equation" is to be involved in a one-of-a-kind dating programme aimed at finding her soulmate, with a little help from the same love equation from the first book in the duology. I really liked Fizzy's role in crafting the story. She proved herself to be a strong contender, who was not afraid to speak up for herself and show her fun, sexy side on the show - which many others would have tamped down for fear of recrimination.
Of course, things could not possibly go to plan, and it is producer Connor who actually catches her eye - but can they even be around each other when both of their careers basically depend on this show going well?
Christina Lauren have once again crafted a thoroughly enjoyable romp of a story!

I wasn’t a fan of the female main character but over all cute, fun, read. Could definitely see this being a round the pool read in the summer

Oooooh this was so good!! Fizzy and Connor were absolutely fantastic main characters and I love them both so much! They had amazing chemistry right from the start and I was rooting for them the whole time. I also really enjoyed how they were both in their thirties and had experience from past relationships to grow from and had clearly learned from - it meant that everything was very mature and there was no stupid miscommunication plotline in the third act, which I always hate.
I'm not one to watch reality shows - I never watch Love Island or Love is Blind or anything like that, so I was apprehensive about how much I would enjoy the reality show context to the story, but I really enjoyed it in the end, I think because the reality show, while part of the story, wasn't really the main focus so it didn't feel too overwhelming or silly to me.
I also haven't read The Soulmate Equation, so I can say that you can easily read this book if you haven't read that first - it's only a very loose sequel, bringing in the main characters from that book and the DNA matchmaking side a little, but you can very easily understand this book having not read that one.
I highly recommend this. It was funny and delightful and cheerful, and it could be a little cheesy at times but I just loved it. Fantastic!

I’ve always loved Christina Lauren’s writing and this was no exception. The story is fun and great escapism. I liked the TV show storyline and trying to figure out how the two MC’s were going to get around all the issues.
Looooved the ending scenes.

The True Love Experiment follows romance writer Felicity ‘Fizzy’ Chen agree to sign up for a dating show in hopes it’ll land her with her true love but also an idea to overcome writer’s block. Producing the show is Connor Prince, a documentary maker who reluctantly agrees to try and help his production company compete in the current market. Fizzy challenges Connor to make her potential suitors fit archetypes from her books including hot nerd, the one that got away and vampire. What ensues is a fun frolic through making a TV show and finding love along the way. Fizzy and Connor made my heart SING with laugh out loud moments, tangible chemistry and banter that flows effortlessly. I enjoyed every page and rooted for their happy every after.
I’d not realised this was a sequel of sorts to The Soulmate Experiment - which I’ve not read - but this doesn’t distract from the story. Enjoyable, fun chemistry and great pacing.
