I hadn't really known very much about Einstein before starting this book, but I very much enjoyed it. It's written in an accessible way, and is full of fascinating insights and anecdotes about his life, his work, and his family. There are just a few places where it is a sort of imagined retelling of what Einstein's day might have been like, but for the most part it is factual and full of snippets from letters and papers. Some of the physics did go a little bit over my head, but it was never too much! I found myself wanting to share lots of different bits with my family as I read, and it left me thinking about him for a long time afterwards. He sounds like he was a very complex character - both utterly amazing, and charming, and yet also a bit aloof and abusive. But reading his early years, with the knowledge of what his reach and influence actually became, is fascinating.
