The Sweetheart List is another amazing book by Jill Shalvis, set in the Sunrise Cove series. I am currently sat here on holiday having devoured this book. Okay, I may have stayed up all night…

I was pulled in to Harper, Ivy and Brodie’s story straight away. While Harper is out main character, I enjoyed reading about Ivy and Brodie. I felt that it was so easy to connect with them and understand their story. I felt like I already knew who they were.

There were some moments that created emotional drama that which then turned to heartwarming moments that put a smile on my face and instantly made feel good.

This is a holiday read at its best with short chapters, witty dialogue and characters who are so relatable. I loved every moment. The Sweetheart List is definitely a book that reminds me why I love reading.

I should say while this is the fourth book in this series you do not have to read in any order or have read the pervious books, I seem to have missed out the third book? However the setting is the glue in this series.

The Sweetheart List may be my new favourite book by Jill Shalvis! I cannot wait to forget this book so I can experience it all again.

I’ve read many books by this author and I can safely say, she gets better and better. This is a gem from beginning to end.

I highly recommend this book.

This is the fourth book in the Sunrise cove series but can be read as a standalone.

This was such a funny yet heart warming and emotional read. It managed to have you laughing out out loud and it also pulled on your heartstrings.

It was written really well and is so easy to read as it flowed really well. I think the characters were written well and in a way that you feel connected to them throughout the story which I liked. I also really liked how well the relationships between the different characters written. Another thing I liked was how relatable and realistic the characters and story was.

I loved the characters especially Harper and Ivy and their relationship. I also really liked the sibling relationship between the Campbell brothers. Shay and her Abuela are brilliant characters too with great personalities. I love the friendship that Shay and Harper develop. I think my favourite character has to be Hambone the dog as he is so adorable and cute.

This is the second Jill Shalvis book I have picked up and will definitely be picking up more.

Thank you to Headline and NetGalley for the eArc and #gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

The forth book in the sunrise cove series. But doesn't have to be read as part of the series but can be read as a standalone as well.

This book is told by the point of view of Harper Shaw and Bodie Campbell. Harper is at her wits end so she packs up her life and moves to Lake Tahoe in order to open her own bakery On the way she gets into a bit of an accident with another care and so Bodie turns up to give her a hand, however things don't go so well and they have a little to doo however it turns out that Bodie is actually her landlord. Full of funny moments, lots of moments to make you smile. Romance, drama and starting over.

Jill Shalvis' novel, "The Sweetheart List," explores the beauty of friendships and family relationships. The story follows a woman who bravely starts a new life on her own, seeking a fresh start. She discovers a sense of belonging and family in her new community, which contrasts with her previous feelings of detachment. Additionally, a young girl enters her life, initially driven by a different motive but ultimately finding solace and support. The characters in the book are portrayed brilliantly, eliciting genuine care and understanding from readers who root for their happy endings. The importance of both biological and found family is underscored, showing how they can profoundly impact and improve one's life. The novel also emphasizes the idea that sometimes, running away from something can lead a person exactly where they need to be. Overall, "The Sweetheart List" is a beautiful and heartwarming tale that explores these themes with skill and grace.

I adore Jill Shalvis. She has been one of my favourite romance authors for a long time and each book just gets better and better. Not only is this story about love but also found family and following your dreams and I just enjoyed every second off it.

Harper is ready for a change and packs up everything and moves to Lake Tahoe and rents an empty space to open her own bakery. Her first meeting is with Bodie, handsome rugged Bodie and she knows she should stay away but when he offers to help with the bakery how can she refuse?

Harper also meets Ivy a run away teen who has taken to sleeping in the bakery thinking it was empty. Harper feels for her and takes her under her wing but she has secrets and those secrets will change things for better or for worse.

This was such a cute story. Harper wants to get back on her own two feet and she’s ready to show people she can do it herself but her new friends show her she doesn’t have to do it on her own and she slowly starts letting down her walls and could she let Bodie into her life after heartbreak?

I love Bodie. Him and his brothers had such a wonderful bond and I just really loved how he grows so much as a character throughout the book and it shows how much all these characters bring out the best in each other.

A new fantastic book from Jill that will have you loving every second off it. Full of laughs, romance and wonderful found family theme throughout.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Sweetheart List' by Jill Shalvis.

Read and reviewed for Jill Shalvis, NetGalley and Headline Publishers.

Publication date 13th June 2023..

This is the second book I have read by this author. It is also the fourth book in 'The Sunrise Cove' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'The Backup Plan' which is the third book in this stunning series.

I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing cover and its hilarious sounding synopsis and title. I am a huge fan of Jill Shalvis and if this is book is even a quarter as gorgeous as 'The Backup Plan' it is guaranteed to be a pageturner. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Headline Books. I have yet to read a book published by Headline Books that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 24 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Lake Tahoe, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Harper Shaw and Bodie Campbell. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

What an absolutely fantastic laugh a minute, heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!

OMG!!! I absolutely love, LOVE, LOVED this absolutely gorgeous book!!! I must say it has got to be one of the best romances I have ever read!! In this stunning story we meet Harper Shaw who is at the end of her wits when she has packed her life in and moved away from her ex job and ex boyfriend to Lake Tahoe to start her own bakery with the gorgeous Ham but on the way there she ends up having a bit of a bump with a Manzanita. Bodie Campbell tries to give her a hand but she turns him away and next on the scene is Shay who offers her some advice and kitty litter. Harper finally rescues her car and heads to the bar to pick up her keys only to come face to face with Bodie again who just so happens to be her landlord!!! This is another stunner by Jill with multiple layers and many unique and unforgettable characters as well as so much going on!!! Pick up your copy of this stunner and get ready to jump on a rollercoaster ride of emotions from love, angst, anger, happiness where you will laugh out loud and cry with happiness as well as sadness!!! It is filled with friendship, family, secrets, banter, loyalty, surprises, Family, trust, self discovery, drama along with a 125 pound Burmese called Ham!!! I absolutely loved the addition of the family text threads scattered throughout the book which made the storyline all the more realistic and loveable for me!!! They also provide a fascinating insight into how the family interact and engage with each other along with giving a deeper insight into their personalities. I was absolutely absorbed in this book and just could not put it down!!! There was no chance of just one more chapter and I ended up devouring it in a day!!! I cannot wait to get the first two books in the series 'The Family You Make' and 'The Friendship Pact' and just any book I can get hold of by this extremely talented author!! The setting and atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous and I loved watching the buildings getting redeveloped, learning everyone's stories and histories and watching the characters relationships change throughout. It really is one of those feel good books that is perfect to read curled up in front of a fire or lying on the beach. There was a perfect mix of tragedy, heartbreak, Romance, laughter that it definitely the go to book if you want a pick me up!! I really hope Jill continues with this series as it is one of those I don't think I could ever get bored with!! It is so much more than your everyday romance with the intriguing and multi layered storylines as there is more than just the one. I could go on and on but seriously just get your copy and get sucked in. Your really won't regret it!!

Although this is the fourth book in the series I had would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

An absolutely stunning, page turning MUST READ!!

The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I absolutely fell in love with all of them for different reasons and I was absolutely devastated to say goodbye. I absolutely adored watching their relationships and friendships grow and develop throughout the storyline. They each became stronger and learnt so much not only about each other but about themselves. I absolutely loved Harper's attitude and became completely invested in her immediately. She made me laugh with her say it as it is determination and her determination in life. Harper is kind, understanding, loyal and an extremely memorable character!!!

Brodie is definitely a sexy, broody and romantic character and I absolutely adored watching him and Harper getting closer. Brodie has been through hell himself and most definitely deserves happiness. I also absolutely adored Brodie's family and the relationships between each and every one of them was just beautiful to read about!!! They all made me laugh out loud so many times I lost count how many strange looks I got from others who hadn't had the immense pleasure of reading this stunning book!!

Ivy who is a young runaway that Harper takes under her wing. My heart went out to her immediately and she was such a strong girl. It was beautiful watching her develop and seeing her bond with Harper grow throughout the storyline. Shay who we first meet dressed up as Velma from scooby doo and going through her own problems with Brodie's brother Mace. The friendship between her, Harper and Brodie was definitely one to want in real life and I'm really hoping to meet them all again!! I definitely adored Ham!!! I mean who couldn't? I absolutely love it when authors include animals in their books being a huge animal lover myself and running Golden Oldies Cat Rescue and hospice and its even better when they play such a large part. They all had their own unique personalities and quirks and are characters that I already miss and have only just closed the pages !!! Jill made them leap out of the pages and I genuinely wanted to grab them and keep them out. I really hope to meet them all again so please, please, please bring out more books in this series Jill!!! I cannot wait to get stuck in to the previous books and I hope they are in them also. I'm fact I think I'll end up crying if they are not!! Their personalities are fantastic and I don't want to go in to too many more detail as I don't want to spoil or for future readers by telling them too much. These characters were one of the best group of people I've ever 'met' and they will stay with me for a long time!!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Jill on another HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future amazing books. This is exactly why you are one of my top 3 romance author list!! Here's to your next success πŸ₯‚!

Overall an unputdownable, unforgettable, stunning romcom that will have you staying up late at night to finish it.

The Sweetheart List is a sweet and heartfelt romance perfect for a beach or holiday read. Harper moves to Sunrise Cove to open a bakery and start afresh. When she mets Bodie (her landlord and fellow business neighbour next door) and a teen runaway, Harpers' new start has bumps and turns thrown in the road ahead of her. I loved the realism of each character in this book and discovering more about each. All have layers to them and secrets in their closets. I loved how big Harpers heart is and how she took a teenager who wasn't her own under her wing - this was so heartwarming and restores faith that there is still kindness in the world. I was really routing for them all and wanted a happy ending for each and every one of them. This is the first book by Jill Shalvis I've read and won't be the last.

𝗠𝗬 π—§π—›π—’π—¨π—šπ—›π—§π—¦

I’d definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a π—Ÿπ—œπ—šπ—›π—§π—›π—˜π—”π—₯π—§π—˜π——, 𝗙𝗨𝗑𝗑𝗬, π—›π—˜π—” read.

I found Harper to be such an inspiration to women everywhere! Starting fresh in 𝗦𝗨𝗑π—₯π—œπ—¦π—˜ π—–π—’π—©π—˜, knowing no one and being thrown into caring for a runaway …. I honestly don’t think I could do it!

She meets Bodie, who is a handful, doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going but knows a good thing when he sees it and latches on to Harper straightaway!

I honestly loved how the close knit family aspect was written alongside the whole - starting on your own - teenage runaway storyline. It was refreshing to see everyone come together, whenever someone was in need! Even though Harper believed she was a strong, independent woman, she realises that sometimes having that extra help, and welcoming family vibe is needed - even if it’s not your own blood! And that’s exactly what the Campbell family provided.

Through thick and thin the Campbell’s stood by each other and welcomed anyone with open arms! It brought tears to my eyes several times!

My heart did sink when a serious incident happened and it seemed like a π— π—”π—žπ—˜ 𝗒π—₯ 𝗕π—₯π—˜π—”π—ž situation, but of course my heart was tricked and all was okay in the end! π—£π—›π—˜π—ͺπ—ͺπ—ͺπ—ͺπ—ͺ!!

Thank you so much to @netgalley and @headlineeternal for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC

A great read. Harper has moved across the country to lake Tahoe to follow her dream of opening her own bakery. On her first night she meets Bodie and Ivy in separate encounters, not knowing the secrets they both keep. I liked the different points of view. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Harper is leaving her old life behind, now in Sunrise Cove she's opening her dream bakery and making new friends.

But with this new start, she's closing off her heart. However, when she meets Bodie, one of her landlords and owner of the bar next door, her head and her heart soon disagree.

One of the best things about Shalvis is that she gives readers the best characters in all the books she writes.

You can't help but love every single character and each of them make this narrative bring a uniqueness to the story.

Harper is the best character, always open-minded with the sweetest heart.

But even the minor characters, such as Bodie's brothers and mum; give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside and you truly hope these characters exist in a setting such as Sunrise Cove.

I look forward to more from Shalvis and hope to visit Sunrise Cove again soon

3.5 stars

I have been aware of Shalvis as a prolific romance author for many years, and so I jumped at the chance to finally read one of her works, and I have to say that The Sweetheart List did not disappoint. While I'm maybe more used to romances on the steamier side, I actually really appreciated the mostly cleaner nature of Shalvis's work, and think a series like Sunrise Cove would be a great introduction into the Romance genre for those unsure of it.

I do always worry when I start reading a series mid-way through that there will be too many in-jokes and references to previous stories, but I loved the fact that this didn't even follow another member of the same family, and that the only thing that remained simoilar was the location! This way it feels as though you can dip in and out whenever the premise suits you. The fact that we follow Harper in this book, who is in the process of opening a bakery, made me immediately interested, as it's a secret fantasy of mine, and gave me enough of a secondary plot to focus on while the romance between her and Bodie was building. I love a small-town setting, and really enjoyed the little features of the various town locations like the bookstore and the tavern too.

Harper's business venture wasn't the only secondary plot point that excited and propelled me through th story, however, as I loved how Shalvis navigated the whole teenage-runaway character into something so meaningful and important to the overall plot, as well as Harper and Bodie's blossoming relationship. I think it allowed for a strong level of character development not only for Iris and Bodie, but also for Harper and how they all got through such new and yet such strong relationships being formed. While strong family units are quite common in romance novels, the way in which Bodie's was introduced as part of the larger story felt refreshingly unique, as I didn't find it to overtake the romance, or the newer familial bonds being forged.

The Sweetheart List might not have captured my attention fully throughout the whole book, but I found the story to be very compelling, and I certainly fell in love with the setting of Sunrise Cove, and I will definitely be checking out the other books in this series, and more of Shalvis' books generally!
