Historical, romantic and thrillers based on Ww2 is one of my favoured genres for novels. This one had the promise of being a little bit different and so it is. Having a character with a disability was a great inclusion. The plot idea has promise.
However, the style of writing is frankly difficult for most readers. Please could an editor have a read through and offer a review as I believe the author has a future given help with writing.

I loved the inclusion of a min character who had mobility challenges. We need to see more of this. I also really liked the subterfuge of the faked artwork - it was such an interesting twist to the start of the whole story. All in all, I would recommend this to fans of both historical fiction and mysteries as it has much to offer.

Unfortunately, this anticipated story fell short of my hopes and expectations despite its uniqueness.

I was pulled in by the promise of an exciting thriller set across two time periods, the 1930s and the present day, a focus on the art world and a main character in a wheelchair. Indeed, Paxton delivered.

Putting aside my lack of emotional attachment or connection to any character, it was his writing style that I struggled with the most. The short sentences with few transitions failed to hold my interest despite my love of wartime historical fiction, mystery, and art.

I was gifted this copy by Matador and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
