This was very entertaining book! Brian is a very well rounded character, and his journey and character growth through this book were so well done. The MLM werewolf scheme was both funny and very frustrating, I haaaate Tyler I want to punch him in the damn face hahaha. The ending was fun, and I really enjoyed the narrator! This was a great quick listen

This was a fun read following Brian a young gay guy who is cursed by a witch to be a werewolf. Abandoned by his family he stumbled across a new life in the big city existing day by day. After stumbling across Tyler a fellow werewolf Brian thinks being part of a pack will solve his problems but he discovers it's more than he bargained for. This little supernatural trip encompassing the LGBTQIA community was a great read. Lots of fun if not a bit predictable in places. A fun holiday read for sure.

Brian is having a rough time. In his twenties, he's recently found that his monthly transitions to werewolf are nothing compared to trying to figure out how to be an adult in the world of late-stage Capitalism. Brian spends all his time getting black-out drunk, avoiding cleaning up his apartment, and working as a waiter.  Things would be bleak, but they manage to get bleaker when Brian accidentally has a murderous slip up. Tyler, a Millennial entrepreneur of the were-creature variety, finds Brian and brings him aboard his company and his pack. Unfortunately, Tyler's plans are not as blameless as previously believed.

Bored Gay Werewolf by Tony Santorella is not just a fascinating read, it makes the reader contemplate the ideas of masculinity, and how that applies to friendships, sexuality, and learning to become comfortable with the body you have. The audiobook is narrated by Anthony Nyro, and he helps listeners both laugh along and get into the emotional nittygritty when needed.

There aren't enough books about gay, lethargic, 20-something werewolves named Brian, eh? BORED GAY WEREWOLF tells the story of a city-dwelling, Grindr-trawling, no-new-friends having gay man who is happily untethered from society. Brian is living on autopilot, save for the fact that once a month he has to leave his friends and job to go get naked in the woods and maybe murder people? And Brian isn ok with this... until he meets a finance-bro type who seems to share a passion for Brian's side hustle of being a literal werewolf. Brian's new friendship with Tyler becomes all-consuming as he learns what it means to be an active member of society (in so many ways). But when Brian's relationship with Tyler, his peers, and his new business venture get quite convoluted, Brian learns that he has to take control of his situation, otherwise he risks losing his friends and life.

BORED GAY WEREWOLF is dark, witty, and smart. It lives in the same vein as something like MOTHERTHING by Ainslie Hogarth - A pitch black observation of day to day lives through an infusion of horror. In my opinion, author Tony Santorella's novel puts the spotlight on the way that gay men need to validate their masculinity. The werewolf experience here feels like a strong metaphor for bodily instability and the personal identity crisis gay men can experience as they navigate their personal gender identity and sexuality. The novel is breezy and whip smart. It's CW Channel ready and also a great one to sit and marinate on. If you're looking for something fun with some bite, here's one for you!

Brian is living a hum drum life but just so happens to be a werewolf. I enjoyed that from the off his wolfy ways are dealt with explained rather than having to relive the causes etc.
The aspects of him being lost/ unmotivated etc parallel well with his monthly changes. The gay aspects are fine, at times they feel like they’re written in a way that explains to uninitiated readers what a typical ‘gay life’ is but in some ways that’s to be expected.
I enjoyed the ideas of the antagonist and the use of modern masculinity as a way to control and hold back people in the guise of lifting them up etc

Overall it’s a fun, if somewhat light, read and I’d be open to a sequel.
Though I never want to have to explain to someone also reading this book what a ‘bussy’ is…

Bored Gay Werewolf does give you a very lovable gay werewolf, but this book is far from boring!

Brian accidentally got himself turned into a werewolf, which his parents don’t appreciate, especially on top of “the gay thing”. So, he finds himself in a small apartment with a restaurant job.

And when he’s not working, he gets drunk…. or blacks out, shapeshifts, and does not-so-good things. This book does have a body count!

When Brian makes the acquaintance of another werewolf, Taylor, he’s intrigued. Taylor handles the whole shifting thing very differently from Brian and teaches him how to live his life with more purpose.

And while Brian is not entirely sold on what Taylor is trying to sell (a project that comes across a lot like a men’s rights scheme), he does appreciate getting more control over his wolf.

I found Brian and his group of human friends so lovable, and beyond the engaging werewolf adventure, this book has layers!

Anthony Nyro perfectly brought out Brian’s thoughts and feelings, as well as his struggles and turned Bored Gay Werewolf into a fun Halloween audiobook!

Just finished listening to the audiobook from Net Galley of "Bored Gay Werewolf" and let me tell you, it's a howlingly hilarious journey through the ups and downs of being a young werewolf. 🌕

From the very first page, this book had me laughing. The author's wit and clever use of humor and sarcasm kept me entertained throughout. It's a thought-provoking tale that delves into the depths of capitalism and LGBTQ+ issues with a refreshing and astute perspective.

I appreciated the cultural references sprinkled throughout the story and if you're looking for a book that effortlessly combines humor, cultural commentary, and mild horror elements, this is it! 🎭🧛‍♂️

Our protagonist, the young werewolf, is relatable and endearing as he navigates the complexities of life. 🐺💼🌈 And the theme of found friendship beautifully resonated with me. It reminded me that even in the midst of supernatural chaos, true connections can bring solace and strength. 💜

The audiobook was very easy to listen to and the actor did a brilliant job!

This was an exciting listen, with a cast of morally grey characters who create a vivid and diverse ensemble. The werewolf, corporate network is something which is particularly enjoyable to read (or in this case listen to). While the action and the main plot twist isn't always predictable, many of the subplots are which can affect the experience a little though, on the whole, it is a well written and planned out story with no unanswered questions by the end.

The pacing does lose itself around the middle and, while this does mirror Brian's mental state, it can be frustrating as a listener. That being said, the beginning third is well paced, and the ending is fast and furious, though it doesn't seem rushed.

Narrator Anthony Nyro does a great job at bringing Brian to life and is perfect for this style of book.

The book offers an unconventional twist on werewolf tropes, catering to a specific audience seeking a lighthearted and offbeat take on both romance and the paranormal, though its humor might not resonate with everyone.

I wanted a quick, fun read and was taken by surprise when I also got a well thought out adventure, witty dialog and characters that I enjoyed hating and/or rooting for. This book definitely delivers the all-wrapped-up-with-a-big-bow ending but that's exactly what I needed! Pure enjoyment.

A fun story following a young twenty something werewolf Brian. He is struggling with just being an adult let alone a werewolf. After a few mistakes or rather victims he catches the attention of Tyler and entrepreneur who has big ideas and wants Brian involved, there connection actually helps Brian straiten his life out and become a better person/werewolf. Overall an enjoyable listen and read. It touches on many subjects like homophobia, coming out, bulling and toxic masculinity to name a few. It's insightful and a refreshing take on the mythological fantasy ideas of the supernatural. My one comment would be that I'm not enamored by the title but then it did peak my interest enough to want to read, so it serves it's purpose well. I would recommend it.

Bored Gay Werewolf was a really delightful time full of funny moments with heartfelt moments sprinkled on top. The story flowed well and was a perfect mix of intrigue and entertainment. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters personalities to life.

I really enjoyed this audiobook, Brian was such an endearing character! This is a funny book at times but also covers some dark subjects. I think my favourite part was Brian’s learning about his friendship and who was really there for him.

This book was a very interesting read! I find most books about queer characters tend to be about romance or even if they aren’t at least have a romance subplot. not that those aren’t great but this one was different which I really enjoyed. It was more about friendships with community as the focus instead. Plus all the supernatural fun and some good self discovery thrown in there this was overall a fantastic read!

This was such a good book to listen to. I really enjoyed the storyline and the actor reading it made it really come alive too.
I enjoyed the subtext of this book and it's commentary on life and friendships. If you're looking for something a bit different to read, this is it.

I'm not sure what I was expecting with a title like gay bored werewolf. But I will tell you I was not bored and I loved every minute of it!

This book was humourous and what I want in a "cosy" fantasy!

I hope there is a second one coming soon!

Witty and comical at times with the odd bit of gore added for good measure.

Brian is s complete no hoper and a bit of a waste of space but I liked him nonetheless.

I’m glad he finally found his pack and sent Tyler ‘packing’

I thought it would be fun if I didn’t remind myself of the synopsis before going in so went in with literally no clue what to expect, and yet it exceeded anything my imagination could possibly have come up with?!

Okay so I loved it! It was so weird but so good! So we’re following Brian who’s just living his life working and as a werewolf, then he meets Tyler who’s also a werewolf and wants to like mentor Brian? I mean from the start I was confused as to why Brian was just latching on to Tyler as he is clearly a psycho, but I guess if you’re like Brian who’d never even really met another werewolf before and suddenly he’s spending time with one that seems to do it so well?

The camping trip was literally my definition of hell and I genuinely cackled at some of the things Brian was feeling and how he was totally not coping. I just felt so strongly how Brian was feeling as the only one in a group of people hiking that would really rather be dead than actually hiking.

The ending gets quite intense and very action packed but it worked really well with how the story had built up! And even once I thought it was all over there were still a few surprise twists.

It was just a really fun read, and it’s quite short which is always amazing! Oh and the audio was brilliant too!!

Bored Gay Werewolf was set to catch my attention from the moment I saw its title and cover. Its campy blend of queerness and horror is something I appreciated throughout and I really enjoyed all the characters we are introduced to. There's some interesting commentary on masculinity and homophobia which ties in well with the storyline, although I will say the execution feels a little jarring sometimes. Tonally the book dips between comedic extravagance and a more serious conversational atmosphere, which I found didn't really work. I don't think either portion needed scrapping entirely but it definitely could have felt a bit more seamless. Overall though I enjoyed my time and can recommend both the physical and audio copies of this book!
