The women in this book are so similar, I kept getting them confused, so I’d have to go back and recap who was who. (Maybe those badges saying “so and so’s mommy” weren’t such a bad idea after all!)
I really enjoyed this book, there was a surprise round every corner. Exciting and interesting.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for review.

My first book by this author and tbh it was not what I was expecting but not in a bad way ! I did enjoy it even though it was a slower pace than what I normally like and read !!! I won’t say to much as don’t want to spoil it for others !!! Definitely more focused on the parents than the children ! Dark and twisty !

Cutting Teeth is not about Vampire children so any fans of that type of genre be forewarned.
This book reminded me of Big Little Lies meets Desperate Housewives both of which I am a huge fan of.
The kids in this posh preschool aren’t actually vampires, they develop a medical condition which makes them crave blood.
Their teacher is murdered and the kids and their parents become suspects in the case.
We get to know a few of the mums throughout the story and each of them feels the burden of the pressure to live up to the ridiculous societal standards of the perfect parent which is exhausting!
The juggle of being a good mother, wife, friend, having a career or being a full time homemaker and actively involved in your child’s education and development – the struggle is real.
And then they are dealing with their kids biting and drawing blood and then the teacher is murdered and everyone becomes a suspect.
There were some funny moments through the book and the ending did have a twist.
This book is more about the parents and their kids rather than the kids and their medical condition.
I found the pace quite slow at times and I guessed some of the twists quite early on.

I really, really enjoyed this thriller. If you liked the TV show Big Little Lies and enjoy a dark twist in your novels, this will be right up your street.

When a beloved preschool teacher is murdered in her classroom, a Texas town wonder if the perpetrator is one of her four-year-old students. Sounds crazy...except they have recently taken the common childhood problem of biting a little further: now they're biting for blood.

Cutting Teeth is a sharp, amusing and gripping novel, narrated by three different moms - Rhea, Mary Beth, and Darby - who provide alternating perspectives. And the perspectives provide a searing and dark commentary on modern parenthood. Such an entertaining read.

Decent gripping crime. I liked the motherhood metaphor, with the sacrifices and comparison in particular to breastfeeding. I thought it was great on gender and the patriarchy.

I was intrigued by the premise of this read, but unfortunately felt that the execution didn't live up to it.
The first couple of chapters were interesting, so perhaps it could have worked as a short story & I liked how the chapters were laid out, with alternating narrative & the "interviews"
But none of the characters were likeable, they were whiny & irritating & the story just seemed utterly ridiculous, especially with no satisfactory conclusion. I forced myself to finish it, but it felt pointless & like I'd wasted my time & that the story was much longer than it needed to be.
My thanks to Netgalley & the Publisher for my E-ARC in return for my honest review.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this, I found the story line confusing, but I will be re trying this again in the future.

I really struggled with this. The idea that 4 years olds could be a) interviewed by the police without adult presecence and b) clever enough to NOT give any version of the truth really annoyed me. The ending did have some interest but it was not enough to male up for the unbelieability of the firt 75 %

I tried really hard to like this book but it just was not for me and I didn’t manage to finish it. It wasn’t what I expected after reading the promotional descriptions. I found it a bit slow at times and it struggled and failed to get my attention.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Random House UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.
I found this book weird to say the least , vampire children, mothers encouraging their children to bite them and draw blood!
I had to abandon this book half way through as I found it slow, boring and frustrating. The mothers are irritating with their constant whining about how difficult being a parent is.
Totally baffled by the number of 4 & 5 star reviews, it didn’t hold my attention but good to know other readers have enjoyed.

Shocking and different in every sense but overwhelming – I devoured the book. After accepting it was heading in a weird direction I could not put the book down. Motherhood has no lengths to which it won’t go for their child. The complexities of being a parent are immense.
Each character is flawed and multifaceted
Four year olds can be little monsters as the majority of parents will concur. It also gives insight into parenthood from different perspectives and how each one handled situations. Friendships were stretched and loyalties left fragile. It also highlighted group mentality and how individuals and groups could be easily swayed by strong opinionated people around them.
I was troubled reading all the psychological trauma situations brought and with each turn of events there was more. HI was left wondering why I was totally unprepared for the ending.
An excellent discussion book on so many levels

This was incredibly quirky read and wasn’t what I was expecting at all. It had me turning the pages at speed to get my head around how unique it is! Only four stars and not five purely because I don’t think it would be everyone’s cup of tea.

An unusual storyline where some of the children start biting and wanting to drink blood. It veers between humour and weirdness so maybe isn’t for everyone. However, I found it interesting but it took a while to remember which child / children belonged to which parents.

Preschool children who have a thirst for blood?

Mothers who try anything to be perfect?

Sign me up.

I just honestly couldn’t connect with the characters and found it honestly… quite boring. Which is a shame because it drew me in by the American cover (which I’ve used) and I love the idea of little biters. Maybe I’ve just not been in the right frame of mind but this just wasn’t for me. The only thing I liked was all the blood! 😅!

Thanks to Netgalley for this arc for an honest review!

"Cutting Teeth" by Chandler Baker is a mystery novel that takes an unexpected and unconventional turn when three mothers of preschool children find themselves faced with their kids wanting to drink blood.
The murder mystery aspect of the story remains strong and well-executed, keeping readers engaged as they try to unravel the secrets hidden within its pages. However, the introduction of the blood drinking toddlers, is where the story takes a bizarre turn. The rapid acceptance of this strange condition by the characters still felt somewhat perplexing, and the idea of mothers feeding their own blood to their four-year-olds remained unsettling.

In hindsight, "Cutting Teeth" might have been more enjoyable if it had focused solely on the murder mystery, with less emphasis on the blood drinking

Darkly humorous, entertaining, twisty and intriguing. A mix of domestic thriller, women's fiction and parenting drama that i thoroughly enjoyed
Well plotted, fast paced.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

oh wow - completely unlike anything I've read before, I dont know where the idea came from but am so glad to have had the chance to read 'Cutting Teeth'!

its the story of a class of vampiric 4 year olds who one by one start becoming obsessed with the need to consume human blood. They are all at a prestigious church pre-school, where their new teacher, Miss Ollie, is an absolute dream. The mothers are concerned with being perfect parents to their wonderful offspring, but when the children become bloodthirsty, how are the parents going to handle it, there are no guidelines for what to do when your child wants to drink blood!
Then the most awful outcome befalls Miss Ollie, and the children are both witnesses, and potential suspects.

As someone who did not grow up with a religious background, the fixation around the church was very interesting; the new pastor turns a few heads with his 30 day challenge for adults to reconnect with their partners.
I loved the characters, the various worries and concerns that each mother had felt so valid and real, the guilt that you're missing something; the struggle to maintain the balance between being a wife, a mother and yourself came across so well.

I'd definitely recommend this for someone who wants an off the wall read about motherhood and how it can consume your entire being

What a strange book about children who start to bite and like the taste of blood. I wanted to stop reading but following three sets of parents/kids through this was intriguing. I'm glad that I stayed with it and there were quite a few twists which made it more exciting.

I started to enjoy this book, but it was soooo long with not much action. I really wanted to finish it, but struggled and had to give up.
