I didn't expect to enjoy this book. I liked both the writing and the characters. I couldn't put the book down and kept wondering if Ross would prevail and save her mother. I even held my breath at the end. It was great fun!

The premise of Thieves' Gambit immediately caught my attention. I love reading heist stories. This book is about Roaslyn Quest who is raised by a legendary thief family. Her mom got kidnapped when the job went wrong. She enters a game run by really powerful people to save her mom. This was a really entertaining read. Rosalyn is definitely a strong main character. She is very clever and cunning. I loved the competition aspect of the story and the plot twists added an extra layer of excitement. However, I wasn't too fond of the romance subplot, although this may change in the second book. For anyone who enjoys fast-paced heist stories, I highly recommend this book. Thank you for the early copy.

Thieves’ Gambit is a book all about Rosalyn Quest, whose family is a notorious group of thieves. After a mission goes wrong, Ross has to enter and win the Thieves’ Gambit, but when everyone is there to win, can she truly trust anyone? I really enjoyed this book and found it impossible to put down towards the end, with excellently-written characters and plot twists. I really liked Ross as a character and I rooted for her throughout. I’m really glad I got to read this book and hope to see more of these characters in the future!

Rarely do I finish a book and want to instantly start it all over again. This is one such book. A truly great book.

The plot is what drew me. Hiests across the globe with an archenemy and a possible love interest, I was hooked. And I wasn't disappointed. The jobs are sneaky and so well thought out you have to take a minute to figure out how you'd do it.

And the cast. Strong female lead with great support from well written secondary characters with back stories and heritage that feels authentic and not just a nod to diversity.

This is a thief of a tale that I happily let steal my sleep as I binged late into the night.
Grab this book for a single sitting or a weekend long con and be taken by the thieves.

It's not often that a book keeps me awake all night but this one just was impossible to put down. The end was the only thing that made me stop. I really had to know what came next as it was impossible to predict , there were so many twists and turns. A guaranteed success.

The Thieves Gambit follows Ross Quest as she completes in a high stakes game of thieves in order to save her mother. Recently, Ross has been feeling lonely in her little corner of the world. She’s been taught to trust no one and in her line of work, it makes sense why. The Quests have made elaborate heists the family business for generations. However, being a teenager whose best friends are her mom and her aunt is becoming tougher. Which is why Ross plans on running away to gymnastics camp, just for a little while. When her mother is tragically captured during a routine heist, Ross has to rethink her plans. She needs money and she needs it fast and if she wins the Thieves Gambit she will be granted one wish. Any wish.

While worrying about her mother, learning she has some deep seated trust issues, and trying to avoid the cute boy who is also a thief, R must make it through the three stages of the gambit to get her mother back.

This book was ridiculously fun. It’s a YA Oceans 11 with a massive twist. It reminded me of the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter which I adored when I was a kid. Ross is learning how to make friends, who to trust, all while using her highly trained thievery skills to make it through some of the toughest challenges she has faced yet. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a lighthearted, female driven, heist story. I need the next book and I need it now.

Thank you NetGalley, Simon and Schuster and Kayvion Lewis for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster UK Children's for giving me an e-arc copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was the first book I’ve read by Kayvion Lewis, and I cannot wait to see what they do with the rest of this series!

This was so faded paced and intense, with high-octane situations where you wonder if the main character will end up making it out.

This story focuses on the Thieves Gambit - in simplistic terms, a competition for the worlds up and coming teenage thieves and gives them a chance to prove their worth. In this one, the story focuses on Ross who is part of a well renowned thieving family and her unwillingly joining the competition as it’s the only way to save her mum.

This book is honestly a roller coaster and it’s constantly keeping you on your toes! With books like these I try not to guess what happens, but some of it was a little predictable. However, that ending!?!! I honestly did not expect that, and leaving it on a slight cliffhanger is making me desperate to find out where this story goes next!! This was such a good YA story, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys anything like Oceans Eleven and The Inheritance Games.

This book had me holding my breath almost the entire time I was reading it. It was so exciting and fast paced, I really didn't think I'd finish it in one go, BUT I HAD NO CHOICE!! So much was going on, so many betrayals and twists...absolutely one of the best heist books I've read, I had so much fun.

Thieves' Gambit follows Rosalyn who has to enter a secret heist-based competition to win enough money to rescue her kidnapped mother. Easier said than done, because the other kids competing would do anything to win. And when I say anything, I do mean anything.

This is what I hoped All of Us Villains would be, just minus the fantasy. The characters were actually ready to off one another if it would better their chances, like real villains. It was refreshing.

Of course, I felt so bad for Ross whenever anyone betrayed her and that happened a lot. Poor girl can't ever catch a break. But the betrayals were what made this book so interesting, you can't put your trust into any character.

Which brings me to Devroe. I feel like he and Ross are endgame? But that doesn't mean I have to like him!!! He was really laying on the charm, but I wasn't convinced. I'd rather see Ross end up alone than with him.

I liked the other competitors though, Kyung-soon most of all. I think Lewis did a good job with giving them distinct personalities and skills, so I was never confused or mixing them up with one another.

I also liked the (fragile) teamwork that eventually led to some real friendships / the beginnings of a found family.

The plot was well-crafted too, there were a few moments where it didn't seem completely realistic, but it doesn't need to be realistic for me to enjoy it. It was just a good time overall.

The ending was a cliffhanger that made me want to jump into the next book ASAP, but I appreciate that a part of the story was concluded in this one. So this book could stand on its own if you decided not to continue, it tells a complete story (although you might still want a few answers after it's over).

I really am impressed with how everything came together, it's possible to predict the ending, but you have to pay attention to the details.

I will 100% be reading the sequel, and if you like Ocean's Eleven READ THIEVES' GAMBIT!!!!!!!!!!

I have been a huge fan of competitions in YA lit for what feels like forever, so this book was definitely my vibe from the get go. And it definitely delivered! It was a brilliantly fun read and I could so easily have read it in one sitting if only I'd had the time to!

Beautifully paced and well written, I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

When your family is one of the most powerful families of thieves in the world, you don’t grow up playing or going to the movies with your friends, but you spend all your time training to be the fastest and invisible so that you can enter any place you wish. This is Rosalyn Quest’s life, traveling the world with her mother to steal artifacts and fortune.

All her life Rosalyn has been told that her family is the most important thing and she can trust no one else, but she dreams of freedom and right about when she is about to achieve it her mother is kidnapped and the only way to free her is to enter the Thieves’ Gambit, an annual competition that sees the best and brighter young thieves in the world compete for one week. The winner can ask for one wish, anything they want. The competition is fierce and the challenges are ruthless and dangerous, but Rosalyn is determined to win, even if it means teaming up with her enemies.

The story is well-written and full of twists and turns and the author created a cast of engaging characters: a group of teenagers competing to win a prestigious competition, all of them with their own motives, some of them are hiding secrets, some of them are ready to kill to get to the end. The story is told from Rosalyn’s perspective. Raised by her mother and her aunt on an island, knowing that blood is everything and that she can’t trust anyone. How far is she willing to go to protect her mother?

Thieves’ Gambit is an intriguing and exciting read with an unexpected ending that makes me really looking forward to the sequel!

Oh I don’t want to say too much incase of spoilers but I absolutely loved this book! Oceans 11 vibes if you love a heist book this is 10000% for you. So many twists and turns, face paced and very thrilling. I will be recommending this to everyone!

Thank you Simon & Schuster for the arc of Thieves’ Gambit by Kayvion Lewis in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
“Challenge: Join the Thieves’ Gambit, a cut-throat competition to crown the world’s greatest thief

Rule 1: Never fall in love with your opponent

Rule 2: The only thief you can trust is yourself

Endgame: Win the heist to save your family - and yourself . . .”
Damn! This book is a total rollercoaster. It’s overflows with a fast paced, high stakes, heist filled plot. I could already see this book as a film showing at cinemas, so no surprise here that plans abound for a film.
The characters are great, each driven to win the Thieves’ Gambit for their own personal reasons, including the protagonist Rosalyn Quest aka Ross. Ross has grown up with her single mother always driven to develop her skills of thievery and deception to follow in the family trade. Ross never knew her father and has been brought up by her mother to trust nothing and no one outside of her very limited family.
I’d love to tell you more about the other characters but, doing that puts me on the precipice of completely spilling the plot from this fast paced, dynamic plot that delivers unexpected twists and turns that you just can’t predict. What I will say is that there a real sense of camaraderie between some and not between others.
If you’re looking for a modern day YA that will truly carry you away on plots, missions and heists and love films like Oceans 11 or books like The Inheritance Games, then you definitely want to pick up Thieves’ Gambit! I totally loved riding this runaway rollercoaster of a book and that ending has me dying for the next book in the series.

Wow, this book surprised me so much, I just finished it and I feel like I just got out of a roller coaster.

I was already pretty much sold when I read the blurb with “The inheritance Games meets Ocean’s Eleven” but when I started reading it I knew Thieves Gambit was going to blow my mind, I’m so glad I was right.

Ross Quest is part of a famous thieving family, she alongside her mother and aunt steal all sorts of things from the rich and powerful, but Ross is not happy with her life, she wants the normal 17 yo experience and the only way she’s going to get it is by escaping, but after her plans go sour and her mother is kidnapped she knows the only way to fix everything is by playing the Thieves Gambit, a competition where the best thieves of the world compete in various phases to see who’s the best, the winner wins a wish.

Thieves Gambit is probably one of the best reads of the year, it had so many twists and turns, impossible heists, betrayals and even romance, Kayvion Lewis had me at the edge of my seat throughout the whole book, I can’t wait to read the next one and see where she takes us.

Thanks Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review

Entertaining, fast paced, high stakes and filled with twists and turns, this was an excellent YA read. The storyline is perfectly realised for cinematic release, which is probably why it's already been optioned for film, based on a quick google. Ross is an interesting and likeable main character, utilising her skills as master thief and escape planning extraordinaire, in a bid to become champion of the thieves gambit and pay an extortionate ransom for her mother's safety. The way her guilt is used throughout, along with her Mum's favourite saying that you "can't trust anyone but a Quest", explains Ross' motivations and decision making excellently. and I'm greatly looking forward to the next book!

This was so much better than i expected.

Did anyone use to watch Hustle? This is a YA book version! Fast paced, exciting, love interest, friend or enemy? it had it all.

Will be looking out for the next in the series.....there has to be a next!

It was super fun, very catching and intense, fast paced and full of actions - overall, it was awesome and I really felt like I was watching a movie (and so happy it'll be a movie, can't wait to watch it for real!).

I feel like I can't say much without any spoilers, so it's hard to give a real review... But I loved all characters, they dynamic between all of them, being during a duo talk but also during group stuff. The heist/targets/missions were risky, intense, and always wondering how they'd do it - the way everything was explained and how it happened was really captivating and impressive. I kind of guessed some little plot twist but I wasn't expecting such an ending, which is pretty rare for that kind of YA books! It ends on its own, but I do hope, when this book will have its success, we'll get a sequel because it has potential for more while still wrapping the thieves' gambit.

The ONLY downside, hence why it's more a 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars, is that during a lot of scenes, it felt like it would have been more suited if the characters were around 25 years old instead of 17, it felt less true and possible. But that's personal.

Don't know why when I started this I thought it would be set in a fantasy or old-timey world. I was most pleasantly surprised to realise it's very much set today in the most tangible of ways.
The characters jump off the page, and twists and turns kept me guessing the whole way through. Character development is cleverly done for everyone who appears on the page, and no two scenes felt repetitive or redundant.
As far as heist novels go, this was an amazing discovery!

I loved this book.
I read a book when I wad about 12 where students were sent to a spy school and they learnt the art of theft amongst other skills. After that, spy school books always hook my attention, and this book booked me and kept me wanting more. The tension and the techniques made it feel so tangible, especially Ross' clausphrobic reaction to her thief helicopter mum. It was like a YA Mission Impossible movie playing through my mind.

I want there to be a sequel of the year Ross has to spend with Devroe.

I received a complimentary edition of this ARC from #netgalley, thank you. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

We're thrust into Ross's world right off the bat. She comes from a family of thieves, living in the Bahamas. She wants a normal life so badly that she ignores a mysterious message about a thieving competition and jumps for joy when she's accepted into a gymnastics summer camp. But things take a turn when, on a subsequent job, her mother is kidnapped with a billion-dollar ransom on her head. The only way to get the money is to enter the Thieves' Gambit, a competition where there can only be one winner.
Ross has to win.
She also can't trust anyone.

I was hooked from the beginning!! Super fast read!! Swallowed me up!!
I fell in love with the characters! The plot! The twists! The suspense! I loved it all!!! I’m hoping the ending is leaving room for a second book!
I could not put this book down. I needed to know what was gonna happen, who when and why everything was going down!

Thanks to netgalley and Penguin Teen for providing me with this ARC!!

Thieves’ Gambit centres around a competition in which thieves compete in different challenges to win the chance to wish for anything. This book felt like a combination of Squid Game and La Casa de Papel (Money Heist).

I’m absolutely obsessed with this book! It was so fast paced and utterly addictive. The plot was so engaging and the various plot twists had my jaw on the floor. The characters were all really interesting and I loved the genius schemes they put together throughout the phases of the gambit. I desperately need a sequel to this book ASAP!

Overall, this was an incredibly entertaining, fast-paced read and I can definitely see this book going viral!
