Trust no-one but yourself. As a thief, this is Ross' number one rule, a rule that has left her without purpose or friends. She is determined to change this but in doing so, puts her mother's life at risk. The only way to help her mother is to participate in the Thieves Gambit, a competition to end all competitions.
This is a brilliant and engaging YA read by @Kayvionlewis, which explores the themes of friendship, trust and betrayal. Its full of unexpected twists and turns which kept me turning the pages - so much so, I devoured this in one sitting. The ending left the door open for a sequel so fingers crossed as I would love to find out more about Ross and her team.

I absolutely loved this one. A heist competition. Packed with morally grey characters who you can't help rooting for.

Thieves Gambit is fast paced, packed with drama, betrayals and shocking reveals.

Brilliant plot. I absolutely loved this one.

I really enjoyed this twisty YA thriller.

Rosalyn Quest lives in a villa in the Bahamas with her mother and aunt. Homeschooled she has no friends of her own age, her one attempt at friendship years ago ending in betrrayal. It's safer that way, after all, thieves can't trust anyone and Ross belongs to a legendary thief dynasty. She would just like to use her skills for something else, something normal, like gymnastics or cheer, something with other people her age. Which is why she has hatched a plan to escape just for a little while. But when her plan backfires and her mother is kidnapped Ross has no choice but to accept her invitation to join the Thieves' Gambit. If she wins, her wish will be granted and her mother freed. Losing is not an option. But she's not the only entrant with everything to lose and her fellow competitors include her childhood nemesis and a boy who seems determined to break through all her barriers.

Fiendish and dangerous, the competition whisks Ross all over the globe. testing her courage and ingenuity in a series of daring heists and challenges. As the competiton progresses she finds herself having to work closely with her fellow thieves and worse, starts to like them. But with the stakes so high, is anyone who they seem and can Ross trust her instincts - or her heart?

Ingenious, original and fun. Highly recommended.

Thieves' Gambit is a fun YA thriller following young master thieves. For fans of heists and con artists, this book is a great one. Our protagonist Ross enters into a cutthroat competition of multiple stages of thieving, deceiving and doing whatever it takes to win. It is fast paced and high stakes, making it a lot of fun to read. Like any good con story, each job includes twists that are hinted at but keep you guessing until it's finally revealed how they pull it off.

The characters were nuanced and likeable, particularly Ross. She grew up in a notorious family of thieves, manipulated and isolated, which makes it hard for her to trust her fellow thieves and form friendships for the first time. The ending comes in a dramatic rush. Events are wrapped up nicely, but it hints at so much more to come and I would really enjoy returning to this world to see what happens next in Ross' life.

Thieves' Gambit is already set to become a film and after reading I can absolutely see why. There is a very cinematic style to the writing, which I think will translate well to the big screen, as well as a lot of high octane moments which will make for exciting sequences.

The main character, Rosalyn Quest, is well crafted and develops throughout, unlearning past behaviours as she learns that maybe the ways she has been taught aren't necessarily the ways that are right for her. She has priorities, and a clear drive and focus, which means potential distractions and her handling of them make for compelling reading.

There are also some really great side characters, some more fleshed out than others, and I certainly get the sense that almost any of them would be able to hold a story of their own rather than just simply being there to prop up Rosalyn's.

With some exciting and unpredictable twists and turns, I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable read and it's definitely one I'd recommend. Whether or not there will be a sequel I’m not sure, but the ending definitely leaves it open for that to happen and I will gladly pick it up if it does! I am also very much looking forward to the movie, whenever that may be, and will absolutely be booking tickets to go and watch it!

Thank you to Simon and Schuster for allowing me to read an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

Thieves' Gambit is due for release on 26th September and is currently available for pre-order.

Thieves Gambit is an enjoyable romp across continents as the tale tracks the progress of the world’s best thieves, taken from the aristocracy of crime families. It is a page turner, looking at how trust (or lack of it) shapes relationships.

Ross Quest and her mum are a team who make their way in the world by stealing. Their name is legendary and they live in luxury from the proceedings of their heists. However, just as Ross decides she wants to spend the summer at a gymnastics camp (to live like a normal teenager and make friends for a change), her mum is kidnapped during a heist. When the kidnappers demand a billion for her release of it, Ross has no choice but to join Thieves' Gambit , a competition established for the world's best thieves and one that could prove deadly. With a win securing the prize of one wish, Ross knows that this is the only chance she has of rescuing her mum alive. She just needs to stay true to the values she's always been taught: trust no one.

I always live a good adventure book and was keen to read Thieves' Gambit when I found it on NetGalley, especially as I knew it would appeal to O as well as to me. I know we always read more on holiday, but he devoured the book in a day with a cry of, 'You can't leave it there!' as he finished it so I knew I was in for a treat (I gobbled it up in under 24 hours too).

From start to finish, Thieves' Gambit is an action-packed, heart-racing adventure that readers will find utterly irresistible. The combination of danger, action and not knowing who you can trust is intoxicating and I'm convinced this is why we both read the book so quickly.

The whole premise of the competition allows readers the time to speculate over who will win and exactly who, if anybody, Ross can trust. She is clearly a strong, independent character and one I wouldn't mess with; however, as with anybody, she has her vulnerabilities de ella and we see these at various stages of the book... I don't think it's giving anything away to say that her mum de ella is her biggest weakness de ella. The question is, can she use that to save her from her?

With a host of other characters involved in the Gambit, readers will undoubtedly decide for themselves who they like and who they would never trust if their lives depended on it (I think this is all part of the lure of a book like this and adds to the thrill of reading it). I know what I thought, and what my son thought, but I'm giving nothing away so you'll have to read the book for yourself and then I'll let you know!

I often find that I can guess at least part of what is going to happen with books like this but I will happily admit that there was more than one aspect of the end of this book that I didn't see coming... be prepared !

Publishing at the end of September, Thieves' Gambit is the thrilling book that you will find unable to put down. I just hope there's more to come!

Well this was a whole load of fun that’s for sure and I can well understand why it’s already set to become a film. Where do I start hmm ? Ok first it’s a fast paced YA heist type story ( think Oceans 11 / Six of Crows )mixed with an almost Hunger Games level of competition as these characters each compete for something each of them is desperate to win.
Our protagonist is Ross who is trying to raise enough money to save her mum but their family to my mind are pretty messed up. Ross wants to be independent but in this world of dynasties composed of thieves it’s just not happening and now here she is facing off against her contemporaries in a no holds barred race. Rivals or friends who is a girl to trust ?
I loved this idea and heartily recommend getting this book. It’s full of twists and turns and definitely high octane when it comes to action. Why a four not five ? I had kind of guessed something so I struggled at the end to suspend belief as everything just suddenly happened and the ending left me dissatisfied somewhat. Would I read the follow up ? That dear reader is a huge yes because I loved the characters and really need to know what happens next !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

{AD|GIFTED} It's no surprise this book has been optioned for a film as it is the perfect material for it. International heists, betrayal and family drama, romance, friendship and a cutthroat competition run by a shadowy organisation. The action scenes would translate so well to a visual medium and it's easy to see why this book has been compared to Ocean's Eleven.

I binge-read it in one night as the action kept me turning the pages wondering what twist would come next. I think this is the first in a duology and the ending certainly suggests there is more to come in Ross's story following her recent betrayals. I think this is the perfect summer read for teenagers looking for a little drama and plenty of thrills.

This YA heist thriller was fun as hell! It was thoroughly entertaining, fast paced and surprisingly unpredictable. The minute I thought I knew where the story was going, it threw you in the opposite direction. It reminded me of Ocean's Eleven with a touch of Now You See Me. It contains a diverse cast of characters each with their own secrets and incentives. I loved watching rivalries unravel, but I would have appreciated to know more about the background of the competitors.

Thieves Gambit is full of misdirection and a jaw dropping finale that I thought was absolutely brilliant. That being said, I still have a lot of questions regarding the mysterious members behind the Thieves' Gambit. What's the goal of this corrupt organisation and who is pulling the strings behind the curtain? I hope the next book provides us with a little more depth and even higher stakes!

Loved this book. Exciting and clever. The plots is twisty turny and there's some smouldering romance bubbling away under the surface. Will definitely read the next in the series.

Ross Quest is a member of a family of master thieves and when a heist gone wrong results in her mother being kidnapped and held to ransom, she enters a competition called The Gambit in hopes of winning enough money to set her mother free.
Ross has been brought up to trust no-one outside the family, so being thrown into the competition with a group of strangers is a real test of her trust issues. Who should she trust and who will betray her?
This is a fast-paced, action packed thriller. The Gambit competition is not only a test of thieving ingenuity but also a test of the pull of new friendships versus the ties of family. There were some great plot twists but the ending felt a bit rushed somehow.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

The Inheritance Games meets Ocean's Eleven in this cinematic heist thriller where a cutthroat competition brings together the world's best thieves and one thief is playing for the highest stakes of all: her mother's life.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so fun, packed with action, fast paced, and addictive. I genuinely could not put this book down, the small bit of romance on the side was amazing too and the ending had me so shocked!! Would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for an extremely exciting and thrilling read.

This YA book was a great read that raced through and kept you guessing on its development arc…. I’m still reeling at such a cliffhanger ending, without any real closure there must be a book 2 coming our way and I can’t wait!
Rosalyn is our young thief from a cutthroat infamous family of thieves and her whole life has been about the business until she decides it’s time for change but is it?
Kind of a young persons oceans 11 challenge crossed with The inheritance games series

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Thank you Netgalley for gifting me a copy of this book.

I didn't have a lot of expectations going into this book and I was pleasantly surprised! This book was very easy to get into and I felt like it was something new. Yes, it made me think of other books like Portrait of a Thief, but I couldn't predict what was going to happen, which is a very good thing.

I loved following Ross, her growth throughout this book, and the relationships she made along the way. I did NOT expect the end and would love to have another book because I want to know more!!!

Would definitely recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the advance reader copy.

I was very intrigued by the premise of this story and am glad to say it delivered.
We follow Ross a young woman who is in a thief family and is trying to go live her life. On the way, there are some hijinks from the get go and she has to enter a competition to win a wish.
This is all in the first quarter of the book. It only gets better from there.

The book is full of schemes, plots, and of course things being stolen.
Overall a great book and I imagine a great start to a series.
