I enjoyed this book although it wasn't what I expected! It was fun to watch Sarah try to figure out what to do next while her world is absolutely turned upside down. I'll be looking out for more from this author.

Sarah needed Sabin all right…wow…the situations she got swept into from hiding and profiting from a grow op, problems with a family inheritance, and the business of being in local society….it became overwhelming.. a good read, sometimes funny , and stresffull.

I enjoyed this book but at times it was a slow read and the ending was abit of a let down, wasn't a surprise.

To steal from the title I do have to say it was more a case of I need saving from Sarah. The plot was unreal and I couldn’t take to the characters either.

Lovers of British sitcoms will enjoy this novel. The plot meanders between situations that slowly reveal the main issue of the novel. The characters are easy to picture and realist. The situation is laughable and the plot moves quickly. I think most of my book club readers would enjoy this novel.

Sarah is certainly an interesting character and I enjoyed the plot line, while it may not be for everyone, I will be looking out for more by this author

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah finds herself in the middle of the upper class society that doesn't accept her 'humble' beginnings with a loving but self absorbed husband, inlaws who hate her and a mother in law with dementia who everyone expects her to care for.
When someone blackmails her unexpectedly threatening to reveal details about her past she is forced to make certain decisions and choices she never thought she'd have to.
In all honesty I found Sarah quite annoying as a main character with little sympathy for her situation. I felt like screaming at her to tell them all to go where the sun don't shine. The story held little attention to me and I found myself almost nodding off at times. The structure of the book was also a little off which didn't help.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah, an upper class housewife, gets involved in a criminal enterprise. While the story is less than plausible, it is entertaining.

This book was an absolute delight to read. Sarah’s perfect world gets turned upside down as she is pulled into the drama of the lives of her husbands family. There are twists and turns around every corner. It is a beautiful story of family, loyalty, and self discovery. Great job to the author!

A chick flick book with a dark twist? Did that catch your attention because that's exactly what this book is!

Sarah never expected to be blackmailed, especially not by someone so close.

She hadn’t expected to be receiving criminal hush money either. As a respectable Exeter University Professor’s wife, neither was really the done thing, But super organised Sarah has it all under control. Or so she thinks.

Set in rural north Devon, this family saga shines a light on “baby boomer” issues, the care of elder relatives, passing of wealth to the next generation, dementia, probate and inheritance
following multiple marriages.

Thank you so much to the author - @dcrbondauthor and @literallypr for the ARC and space on this book tour!

3.5/5.

Sarah lives with her husband and daughter in rural north Devon. Her husband is a university professor and her daughter is at school. Sarah plays the ever-obliging mother and community member. Basically she's an unpaid housewife. Sarah has longed to improve her family's situation, somewhat envious of that of her brother-in-law and thinks by fitting in with the locals, she can aspire to higher goals. Things take a bit of a turn when she happens into the shed at her mother-law's home and discovers marijuana is being grown without said MIL's knowledge. Before long she's being blackmailed and forced into committing other offenses, just to keep her family and friends safe from those who are causing trouble.

At times this is quite painful to read as Sarah gets further and further involved in actions that should have nothing to do with her. It's also plain that she has lots of self-esteem issues and aspires to heights that maybe aren't so great as she thinks. The husband is rather self-involved with his own interests and work. The society Sarah is part of is filled with women who all seem to be under the thumb of a nasty leader.

The story itself is actually a good thriller of sorts and you really wonder how thing will turn out for all of them. The ending was reasonably satisfying, leaving me with a good impression of the story. I did find some aspects of the book a bit troublesome. The point of view changes regularly but without any indication this is happening. In one sentence we're looking at Sarah and in the next it's her husband. It really made it difficult to follow the story sometimes.

Overall, I give this 3.5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Literally PR for giving me a free advanced reader copy. I have written this review voluntarily.

Follow Sarah, a middle aged woman who has been waiting for her due (an inherited Grand House upon her rich mother in law’s death) get tangled up in a web of drug crime and lawyer’s meetings about wills.

This book was a slow starter with a slow middle and slow end. In fact, I skimmed and skipped parts and don’t feel I missed much. It was hard to sympathise with Sarah about her situation - maybe because I’m Canadian and weed is treated differently to the UK - but also because she was just so frustrating in the way she handled the situations she found herself in. She seemed to think her husband was a doofus who just lived with her, her extended family all mean and/ridiculous and she was better than them, but without revealing much of her own personality or moral code. I think she was just a bit limp in personality and despite all she went through, that never really changed.

I didn’t find the storyline about the house particularly engaging, though it was nice to see Sarah fired up about something (finally). There was far, far too detail about legal stuff that totally lost me. The drug storyline was way more interesting, but I don’t think Mike was as good a character as he should’ve been - I really wasn’t sure whether he was someone to empathise with/support or whether he was the villain. Maybe that was the point?

Turns out that exactly like the title said, Sarah (really) Needs Saving. It was just problem after problem after problem for her. Maybe, if Chapter Twenty Seven Sarah could tell Chapter One Sarah anything, it would be to mind her own business, because you'll never know what kind of blackmail worthy material the other person has against you if you don't. I was kept on the edge of my seat about whether or not someone would eventually find out about Sarah's side hustle, and when it could possibly happen.

A British housewife finds herself entangled in a criminal operation in this thriller reminiscent of Netflix’s Good Girls.

I thought the way this book portrayed British class tensions (the protagonist married into an upper class family but isn’t really seen as one of them) was interesting, and the writer did a good job in establishing a sense of place. I could vividly picture this book’s settings.

I was totally prepared to say that the character of Sarah’s husband annoyed me, but he actually experienced a lot of growth over the course of the book, as did Sarah.

There were some beautifully written lines in this novel, but some of the stylistic choices with the prose put me off. Certain lines of dialogue felt a bit stilted and not how people actually talk. There were also these weird shifts from third person to first person for characters’ internal dialogue that weren’t denoted by italics or a “she thought” tag, and those threw me off a bit.

Overall, if you’re looking for a thriller in a cozy British setting, this does the job, but it wasn’t my favourite.

Sarah doesn’t need saving - she needs a kick in the pants. To say she is a tough protagonist to love is an understatement and it is sometimes excruciating to watch her stumble from disaster to disaster, compounding problems every step of the way. This book covers some important real life issues and highlights the complexities which come with ageing and the legalities of estate law. It’s an interesting and entertaining read.

Sarah Needs Saving is not what you expect. I went into this expecting more of a chick-lit, light-hearted read but instead I got a dark and suspenseful thriller. This is incredibly well written and it just draws you right in to this faced paced mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I think this would be great for any thriller fans and especially for anyone looking to get into the genre.

What makes this book interesting is the cover is very different from what you expect it to be! I think your expecting a sort of light chuck lit book, but this one is much darker! It deals with someone being blackmailed unexpectedly by someone close to them and the repercussions of that. Suspenseful, thrilling, and page turning is how I would describe this book. I think our readers will enjoy this one alit and I think Reese Witherspoon would love to option this book for a series or movie.
