This story centers around India, who is nannying for a wealthy family. She is a bit of a broken person but really wants to cling to this new family dynamic and her young charge, Alicia. This book ended up being a bit of a slow burn but I ultimately like how it unfolded. I just wish it had happened a little sooner. Thank you to the publisher for this ARC copy.

This book gripped me from the start.
India has lost everything, even her home, and decides to go and work for a wealthy family, to look after their young daughter Alicia.
To begin with Alica comes across as a brat, but you soon learn she just needs a steady presence, and to be loved. There were some hard done by characters in this book, but I think it was Alicia I felt for most of all, dismissed just because she was 7, but smarter and more astute than anyone gave her credit for.
Then there's Alex, dark, brooding, locked away and forgotten by his family, why?
Then India has a secret, writing letters to an old friend. Her best friend.
There were some parts of the plot I guessed and maybe one of the biggest reveals was given away early, if you were looking for that, but it didn't matter. At all. This has a real sense of menace throughout, intertwined with a love story. The secrets we all carry around.
Julia, a minor character in some respects, but one of the worst, a total b*tch, to her husband, to her children, to anyone to cross her path!
There were some very touching moments between Alex and Alicia and I may have shed a tear at the end. No mean feat.
I think this book will stay with me for a while.

I found this one to not really be for me. It was hard to follow and it didn’t hold my attention. I did finish it but I didn’t enjoy it very much.

Unfortunately this book was very hard to get into & was quite a struggle to finish. I would still give another book a go from this author!

Thank you Netgalley. I really tried to like this book but it fell very flat. The story was a bit slow and hard to get into. I forced myself to finish reading. Just not for me.

Unfortunately I did not finish this book.

At first I was intrigued, but eventually I found the story a bit too slow moving for me and wound up skimming it. At around 60%, I decided to DNF.

I don't think it's actually that long of a book, but it just started to become uninteresting for me unfortunately.

India needs an escape from her life. She takes a job as a nanny with a wealthy family, the Maines. India moves in with the family, who consists of Julia and John, and their two children - 7 year old Alicia and twenty-something year old Alex. India is drawn to Alex, who has a complicated past. He does not get along with his parents. India cannot stay away from Alex, despite the warning to do so. Alicia is lonely and instantly connects with India, who she likens to a sister. India quickly learns that the Maines are hiding many secrets...

This is a fast-paced novel, with lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the plot - it was unique and kept me locked in. Every time I thought that I had things figured out, another twist drew me in a different direction. There are no shortage of "suspects" in this one.

This was my first read by Ms. Samuel. It definitely will not be my last! I enjoyed her writing style.

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

The Nanny by Eleonor Samuel was a hard book to get into. I found there was too many characters that were just put there and didn't really have a valid place in the book. Plus, it repeated itself in many places it became a headache! So I didn't get into this book and enjoy it. Sorry. But the cover was excellent.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I will read more books by her as I can see a promising books in the future.

I wasn't the biggest fan of this book. I didn't really like the writing style and so I found it really hard to carry on reading. I think some will love this writing style.

The writing and character development were very good, but the long chapters and creeping pace in the middle turned me off of this story.

This was just not a book for me. I felt like it had a lot of things even characters that had no relevance to the story at all! And a lot of things kept repeating. I guessed what was going to happen very early in. It took the book forever to get to the point. Like half the book could have been left out and it would have been much better. The ending was good. The story was good it just wasn’t put together in the best way.

Sadly, this book was just not for me. I wanted to read it because the cover very closely resembles the cover on a book by my favorite author. But they were in no way the same. I seriously struggled with this book. It was slow, boring, and I lost interest very early on. The chapters were so unbelievably long! It needed to be shortened by at least 150 pages. If I were the type to DNF books, this would definitely have been DNF'd!

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this eARC.

I’ve read about a third and felt it was really going no where. A few mysteries that dragged on, didn’t care about the central figure at all. Couldn’t finish it.

I wouldn’t describe this book as a thriller. The “thrill” doesn’t happen until the end.
It gets slow in the middle.
There’s a little romance as well which I really liked. Overall, a good book just wish it was more suspenseful.

This Nanny has me so conflicted. If I was bassing my review on the beginning and end of the book I would give it 5 stars.

Unfortunately the middle of the story let's it down. It was very strung out there were a good 10 chapters that could have been cut out without interfering with the story.

First the good. I loved the characters. The slow burn romance while they get to know each other. The secrets the main characters keep will keep you guessing. The last quarter of the book is thrilling and full of surprising twists and turns.

Now the bad. As I already mentioned the middle chapters are so slow. This was nearly a do not finish for me but thankfully I pushed through.

This book is so much more than the psychological thriller it seems to be at first glance. It has a dedicated young woman with a tragic past, an adorable, intelligent child, a brooding misunderstood love interest and more intrigue than you can shake a stick at. The reason behind all the threats and "accidents" left me picking my jaw back up off the floor. I loved every page from beginning to end and have told everyone I've talked to all about it. If Eleonor Samuel can continue to write books of this calibre she will have a very lucrative and successful career in front of her.

First of all I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and author of this fantastic book for affording me the opportunity to read it.
It had twists, a bit of mystery with an additional element of romance. Now I'm not going to lie, I did guess one or two of the twists, but the one with India and the letters had me thinking something completely different, but I was definitely NOT disappointed.
This is the first book that I have read by Eleonor Samuel, but it will not be the last...I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for her others.

Highly recommended
