I always look forward to a new book by this author. The first chapter is quite confusing in retrospect - and definitely misleading and what follows in the rest of the book eventually unravels it all.
The story is told from four perspectives - Frankie, Patience, Edith and Clio. and it is not always easy to follow the relationships - no doubt, deliberate.
I did enjoy this book, perhaps not quite as much as her others. Alice Feeney has set herself a very high bar.
Three and a half stars for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Alice Feeney/Pan Macmillan for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

My 6th Alice Feeney book and not once has she ever missed for me. Fans will be thrilled to know that she continues her winning streak with her latest gem.

Talk about a gripping opening chapter!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Although I was confused by the multiple POVs and how everything was connected at first, the beautiful writing kept me going. I have pages and pages worth of highlights on my Kindle because the prose is just something else. There are writers, and then there are storytellers and wordsmiths. Alice Feeney is all 3.

She also explores difficult topics such as postpartum depression and moral greyness with such flair and shrewdness. One of my favourite parts of this book is the way she highlighted mother-daughter relationships and all of its complexities.

The story and plot unfolded so beautifully and seamlessly, while the characters were well-written. I flew through the last 2/3 of the novel in one sitting and was left not just deeply moved, but even found myself tearing up in public!

I'm seriously impressed by how the author has taken a common thriller trope of missing children and spun it into something so original, captivating and outstanding. I'm not sure how I ever had doubts about Good Bad Girl because it truly is fantastic.

WOW! Another superb rollercoaster of a ride from the brilliant Alice Feeney.
This book hooked me from the start and didnโ€™t let go until the final page.
Two different crimes that are connected with a twisting turning storyline. A must read!

In the past, we watch as a baby is stolen from a pushchair whilst the mother is chatting. Back in the present we witness a murder in a care home. The two crimes are 20 years apart but they are linked. Quite how we have yet to discover.
Back at the care home we meet Edith, an inmate, reluctant, tricked into her circumstances by her family, specifically her daughter Clio. We also meet Patience, a young girl working in the care home, who bonds with Edith. And then there's Frankie who works in a prison library and who has her own issues to contend with as her daughter has run away from home.
It's actually quite hard to say anything else about this book without giving away potential spoilers. It's all a bit interconnected and convoluted once you start to examine what is going on. Especially when you factor in Patience's full circumstances and quite how Clio fits into it all... So I am going to leave it to you to discover all this for yourself as the author intends. It will deliver the right shocks and surprises at the right time for maximum impact.
It's a relatively slow burn of a book but one which builds up the layers of intrigue slowly but surely before, once that has been done, starting to peel back the layers one after another until the whole truth is finally laid bare. Delivering twist after turn after shock all the way to a wholly satisfying end.
All in all, a cracking addition to an already well impressive back catalogue... Roll on next time. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

I was drawn to the striking cover design and intrigued by the book's description.

I really liked the dark tone of this book, and was drawn into it from the very beginning. I was very interested in the characters, even if I didn't relate to all of them or find all of them likeable. I think the character that I identified with the most was probably Frankie. Having said that, I was able to empathise with most of the characters in one way or another. Once I started turning the pages, it was hard to stop, and I finished this within a couple of hours.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.

This is my first Alice Feeney book, and I can honestly say, it definitely won't he my last. I'd heard good things about this author and everything was true.
Good Bad Girl is a very well written story about 2 crimes that are somehow linked. A snatched baby and a murder in a care home. It was a definite page turner. I simply couldn't put it down. It took me 24 hours to read and I'm disappointed it's finished. It was simply that good. I'd recommend this to anyone. No matter what genre you like. Just read it!

I must say Alice Feeney never disappoints. Her trademark is writing thrillers with the mother of all twists.
And gosh, her latest novel had me clinging to the edge of my couch as I waited for my head to stop spinning.

If youโ€™re an armchair-detective like me, let me give you some advice. Donโ€™t even try to solve the mystery, youโ€™ll only waste your time. Just let @alicewriterland take you for a ride and blindside you with red herrings along the way.

This is an all-feminine mother-to-daughter story and I absolutely loved it. The first chapter is titled The End, and immediately has you reeling with the impact of it.
A 6-month old child is abducted from her stroller in a supermarket and before you know it itโ€™s 20 years later and we are introduced to the characters.

Edith is an old woman with a dry wit staying in a care home she hates. Then there is Patience, the young girl who works there and has taken a shine to Edith.

Next we have Frankie, a librarian with a fixation for numbers who is working in a womenโ€™s prison and desperately looking for her missing daughter.

And last but not least we have Clio, a middle aged woman living in a pink house. She has lost her whole family and seems to blame her elderly mother for everything that has gone wrong in her life.

Thenโ€ฆ. someone is murdered.

How are these women connected? Well, youโ€™ll have to find out by reading the book. I assure you, you will not put it down till youโ€™ve read the last page!

Thanks to #netgalley and #panmacmillan for sending me this amazing ARC!

A baby is taken from her pram in the supermarket, we donโ€™t know who the mother or child is. 20 years later a woman is murdered in a care home. With the mystery of the murder to be solved and three suspects in mind, we follow the story of four women on their journey to be good people who do bad things. Is the missing baby linked to the murder?

At first I was so confused as to what was going on and who was who, but once I grasped it I was hooked I could not put the book down. I was constantly writing notes and guessing how the book was going to end and I did guess most of it but then bam I was hit by a twist.

I love Feeneyโ€™s writing style she is exceptional at keeping your mind ticking with theories. With the book split into chapters for each character (Patience, Edith, Clio and Frankie) this adds more depth and gives the reader more knowledge. Patience and Edithโ€™s little relationship was so cute, however, I didnโ€™t care much for Clio or Frankie.

This was such a compelling read, itโ€™s a must for all the mystery domestic thriller lovers out there.

The queen of the plot twist returns for another rollercoaster of a book where you're never quite sure what's going on or why you're being told things until it hits you smack in the face! Unlike previous books by Alice Feeney, this one is a slower burn but no less twisty for it.

The book explores motherhood from a few different angles and toys with the idea that no one person is wholly good or bad, There's 4 characters but don't even bother to try and work out how they're all connected, just go along for the ride! The chapters alternate between the characters so it can take a while for you to see what's going on and how their stories link beyond the theme of motherhood, Stick with it though, once it gets going it really draws you in.

Another fantastic story from Alice Feeney and I can't wait to read her next book. 4.5/5 purely as it took a while to get going.

I really really loved daisy darker so was very excited to see another Alice Feeney. This wasn't as good as daisy darker but I still very much enjoyed! A group of suspected strangers flipping to and fro in time and not knowing which era we maybe in, and just how the group were linked...A great page turner that kept me reading and a set of characters who were really quite a good mix of damaged, suspicious and just plain weird....!

Thanks to Pan McMillan and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story about 4 seemingly unconnected female characters ranging from 18-80 and all of them are either lying about something or at the very least not being completely truthful about who they are or their motives. The story eventually uncovers how they are all connected.

This was a good book that held my attention, but I found it to be a little too easy to figure out. I was waiting for a big shock and there were some twists and turns and some things I didn't see coming, but not the huge shocks that I am used to from this author. So this wasn't a bad book at all, I think the bar was set so high with some of her previous novels and this one was a little less shocking. I still look forward to her next offering.

Good Bad Girl sees four women narrate the story of a missing baby and a murdered care home manager.

I was initially confused how the main plot of the murder ties into the cold-case search for the missing baby. However, the short punchy chapters kept me going, and as I read, the twists kept coming. Alice Feeney cleverly weaves the plots together to deliver to tell a story that balances dark themes with light moments to portray the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters.

A baby is taken from her pram when in a supermarket. Twenty years later there is a murder in a care home for the elderly. Three people are suspected, but what is the story?

I really enjoyed reading this thriller, with its twists and turns.
I thought the image picture drawings at the start of each chapter was a fab idea, knowing instantly who was telling that part of the story. Peppered with inspirational thoughts, I loved how they were slid in, and enjoyed making my interpretations of the words.
I totally enjoyed reading this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.

Alice Feeney doesn't disappoint.
A great read with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end! Some things were guessable but not everything, a refreshing change to read something with unpredictable aspects.
A family relationship dynamic that will resonate and have you scratching your head in equal measure.
Big thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Good Bad Girl

Ooh this book was interesting!! Iโ€™ve read a few of Alice Feeneyโ€™s books now and I love the twisty nature of them and trying to guess whatโ€™s going to happen. In this story I managed to guess a couple but was way off with some of the others.
In this book we have a selection of great female characters - Edith a former detective (a store detective but it still counts) who lives in a care home, Frankie, a mysterious prison librarian, Clio a therapist with more than a few issues of her own and Patience - a member of staff at Edithโ€™s care home.
When a murder occurs in the care home - these 4 women find themselves at the top of Detective Chapmanโ€™s list of suspects. I found myself racing to put the pieces of this puzzle together which is exactly what you want from a book like this - it kept me turning the pages and got me through a flight with two small children which is no mean feat. Loved it. 4 stars.
Sometimes good people do bad things.

I absolutely loved how confused I was the whole time I was reading this. Even until the last chapter I was like what?! Although I am still left with questions likeโ€ฆ what was the speech Frankie had prepared for Clio in the first place!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC!

I'm a big fan of Alice Feeney's work but unfortunately, for me, this book was a miss. I just couldn't get into it and was getting confused with all of the different characters perspectives. I felt like the story was really slow and took ages to get going and I was just bored by the halfway point. Sorry!!! I love some of Alice's other books, but this one just didn't click with me. You might love it though!

'Twenty years after a baby is stolen from her push-chair, a woman is murdered in a care home. The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth. '

Alice Feeney has a unique writing style - her characters are really dark, original and utterly unbelievable. This book had a bit of a Lisa Jewell vibe which is a huge compliment from me! I love Alice's books. The three female characters draw you in and the book moves at a fast pace and I couldn't put it down, desperately trying to work out how they were related and who was behind the murders and kidnapping.

I highly recommend all of Alice Feeney's books - she is such an original writer and one of my favourites.

This was an absolutely gripping read that I read in a day as I couldn't put it down. With a cast of intriguing characters who kept me guessing, this was pacy with plenty of twists. The characters were well drawn, and my sympathies kept switching as more was revealed. This was a very cleverly written book, with multiple perspectives giving different viewpoints as the story developed. This was a tense, insightful read and highly recommended. Thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for the opportunity to read.

Read this is one sitting as I had to try and work out what was going on! Was confused and intrigued how the story would unfold and did not guess that ending at all.
Iโ€™ve enjoyed this authorโ€™s previous books and this did not disappoint.
Thank you for the advanced copy and would definitely recommend.
