A reunion thriller that not only includes a group who met at University some twenty years ago, but also their children, who it has to be said play quite a prominent part in the storyline.
Max and Annie have invited their former Uni friends and their families to join them at their new Glamping site on the beautiful Cornish coast, prior to it opening to the general public. Sounds perfect doesn’t it? Well, of course it turns out to be anything but.
Lots of themes at play, with different viewpoints from various characters, including those of the children, though the beautiful location is spoilt by the weather on this occasion, it’s absolutely atrocious but lends much to the atmosphere, especially when one of the party goes missing.
Smoke and mirrors were used to full effect to create doubt and suspicion, and I wasn’t sure how this one was going to end, but I certainly enjoyed the journey. Kept me gripped throughout. Loved it!

I loved this it was really well paced and kept you guessing all the way through. Very relatable characters and good twists and turns. Fully recommend

A reunion between friends that have a twenty year friendship. The last get together for one of their 40th birthdays had become a bit of a disaster. This time Max wants to get it right. Him and his wife have recently adopted and given up the city life to live in the country and are about to open up their own high end glamping business. What could possibly go wrong this time? Well it seem quite a lot!
I really enjoyed this story. I was kept engaged the whole time, felt invested in the characters and it had a satisfying ending for me. It was almost going to be a five star review but I did kind of guess much of the ending. Although I am sure not everyone will. Well done Hannah Richell. I will be looking out for more of your work.

This is the type of book I really enjoy. A fast paced thriller with well developed characters who all have a voice. I always find books about friendship reunions interesting. Lots of twists and surprises. The suspense sometimes made me want to skim read . I did in fact do this with a couple of chapters that I felt were not entirely necessary to the story but this did not detract from my desire to finish the book. A satisfactory ending. Thank you Netgalley for an advance copy.

I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints in writing if this book. Each set of characters is well formed and written about, from the "find a slower pace" Max and Annie to the slightly higher strung Dominic and his family and the anxious new mum and her partner.
the characters play well off each other and it is easy to see how they cling to the "friends since forever" aspect of their lives when really they have all outgrown each other in various ways.
The loss of a child somewhere on the cliffs is well written with the anxiety levels high and the interactions becoming more truthful as the storm rages on.
With a twist and a great ending this is well worth a read.

I enjoy the “five friends, a holiday” trope and this was a little different in there being a missing child.
Pacing was good and I really loved the multiple POV’s (I had a favourite for sure!) but it did have moments of less than thrilling.
Enjoyable.

The Search Party by Hannah Richell was a fabulous read that fellow suspense readers will enjoy.
A fast-paced thriller/suspense that is told in multiple POVS following a group of university friends and their families who meet up for a weekend to go remote glamping near the Cornwall coast but as a storm is approaching tension starts brewing and soon after a member of the party goes missing.
The characters were written well, I particularly really enjoyed Kip’s POV. Each character has a different lifestyle and personality so in some areas you will either like or dislike them. The search party has aspects of family tension, betrayal and secrets.
Lots of suspense and a riveting read that is written very realistically and you will want to keep turning the page to see what the outcome is after the glamping holiday, the characters, description of the Cornwall coast is very describable and made you feel as if you could see what they were seeing. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend to book readers who enjoy a suspense/thriller read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Simon and Schuster UK for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

This novel kept me interested for about 75% of the time. 3 groups of friends get together at a glamping site belonging to one of the friends. All seems ok to start with but then one of the children goes missing and secrets come out. This is overall a good, thrilling novel but for me, it went on for too long. Despite this I still recommend it

A group of people have been friends for 20 years. A successful couple, Max and Annie decided to leave the rat race in London, and relocate to Cornwall and set up a glamping site. Before they open to the public, they invite their old friends and their partners and children for a reunion at the site.
Not all goes according to plan, there is an uncomfortable incident the very first evening, then a storm hits, and one of the group is missing.
There is no mobile signal, the power lines are down, and the only road out of the site is blocked. As the storm rages, emotions are running high, old secrets, lies and resentments are brought to the surface, and the friends realise that maybe they don't know each other that well at all. Could one of them be capable of murder?
I really enjoyed this book, a gripping psychological thriller. Highly recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC of this book.
A good solid read with some likeable characters and some less so. I loved Scarlet, I thought she was great. The plot has been done before but nevertheless it was well done. One thing that has improved thriller books for me is actively not trying to guess the ending. Just read the book and enjoy. I find this works better.. The multiple POV work well and certainly gave the characters more depth.
A good solid read. One character does call another babe at the end which is nails down a blackboard to me.
A good holiday read

A fabulous read! It took me a while to learn all the different characters, but once I did I was hooked. This was a great thriller, and so well written. Kip was my favourite character and I wanted to pick him up and hug him. My heart was in my mouth at times – a very tense read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy - highly recommended.

I previously read Hannah Richell's debut novel, Secrets of the Tides, so I was looking forward to this one and she didn't disappoint. Well written and atmospheric page turner, with some great characters. The story is told from different viewpoints, which gave the book more depth. Ending somewhat predictable, but it's a good read and I finished it in two sittings. Only Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

It's perhaps because I read this novel after reading one I really loved that the clang of a cliche quite often. The premise is good: a reunion, of sorts; a storm; a missing person; no outside contact; a 'locked room thriller'. Give me some of that, definitely. But if you're going to write a novel with these kinds of recognisable tropes, the point is that the quality of the writing has to do the heavy lifting. I might be being unfair, as I say, because - OK, yes - it was the new Sebastian Faulks novel I'd just finished reading, and the writing there is stupendous. On the plus side, in terms of plot, it works, and if you like thrillers, you'll like this one. My grateful thanks to both the publisher and to Netgalley for the ARC.

Ideal for fans of suspense stories told from several points of view. I particularly liked one of the teenage viewpoint characters. The pace builds to a satisfying conclusion.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an independent review.

when i saw the list of characters at the start of the book, and realised it was told from multiple povs, i was apprehensive that it would become too confusing or muddled, but this was not the case at all!! the different timelines all being intertwined were constructed really cleverly, to the point where they were giving you information, but not enough to see the full picture. overall, i think this book is THE definition of the word 'gripping!!"
thank you to netgalley and simon and schuster uk for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

The story opens on the stark north Cornish cliffs and a girl, taunted by a voice in her head, plunging to her death. Who is she, what words could have caused such strong emotions and extreme action? The answers lie in a group of friends and their families who meet up for a glamping weekend. The weather, initial warm and sunny, changes as a powerful storm arrives causing the friends to be stranded whilst desperately searching for one of the children. Friendships are tested, some break and some endure.
This is a gripping story told through the narratives of the key characters describing their actions and observations at various times over the weekend. There are family tensions, suspicion, secrets, betrayals combined with raw emotions of love, hatred and fear.
This is a gripping and suspenseful thriller in a beautiful but harsh setting. The characters and relationships are well developed and the story has sub plots and pleasing twists. This was an enjoyable read. There are though a lot of characters who are introduced very quickly and I did find it useful to note down who the members of each family were.
One minor issue I have is around a small point of detail. This area of Cornwall is well known for its tin mining heritage. Mention of ‘steel mining’ is incorrect. Steel is not mined but iron ore is which is the raw material for steelmaking.

Max and Annie, along with their adopted son Kip, have escaped the rat race of London and settled in Cornwall. Architects of some repute in their old lives, they are creating the ultimate glamping business, and have invited along their old cronies from London to try it out. When the guests arrive there is the usual getting back into the swing of being with each other, plus all the children from the various families have come along too. When an horrifying storm hits the peninsula, tempers flare, friendships quickly come under pressure, and true feelings are allowed to emerge.
This is a really good story. Once you get to grip with all the characters (a cast of thousands it first seems), and who belongs to which family, the plot really speeds along. Luckily there is a list of players at the start of the book that helps enormously.
The characters are very much a mixed bunch, with the alpha male, the new mum, the toy boy, the yoga teacher, etc., and the relationships between them are typical of all long time friends, with a tightrope being walked most of the time! For the newbies amongst the group this strange mix of folk takes some handling, and there are some interesting interactions;)
I don’t think the outcome of the who did what was a surprise, and some of the tying up a bit sentimental, but overall an engrossing read.
There is a need for editing of repetition, but that certainly didn’t spoil the book for me.
Thank you NetGalley.

This started off quite slowly and with lots of characters talking so I wasn’t sure how I was going to get on but once it picked up pace I couldn’t put it down. The characters themselves surprised me as I changed opinion of quite a few of them. As a teacher of children with a trauma background I found Kip written extremely well. I found myself begging everyone to believe him right from the start and my heart really hurt for him. This character in particular was very well written.

Very well written. Lots of suspense and intrigue. The plot and characters kept me hooked. Highly recommended.

This is a really really good thriller. There are many books out there with old friends reuniting, secrets to be discovered, all set in a remote location cut off from civilisation etc but this is the best one I have read. The author created a lovely setting with glamping on a remote Cornish peninsula but what makes this story are the characters. They have so much depth about them and unlike other similar books, you do not get them mixed up. Don’t try and predict the ending just go with the ride and enjoy! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this engrossing review copy.
