This was a brilliant laugh-out-loud read. I found Ella to be really relatable and having worked as a woman in the construction world, some of the situations were just so accurate.

A fun read, perfect for light hearted enjoyment. The romance almost becomes a sub plot, I was really invested in Ella's job and the company instead!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The baddies got their just deserts and the goodies all their rewards! Who would have thought that a book about a building site and building materials would be so entertaining and the characters so interesting. I was sorry when I finished it.

This was a great fast read! I love all rom-coms from Phoebe MacLeod, they are always capable of making me laugh but Ella's fierceness in making things work was was kept me engage in this story. I loved the way Noah and Ella's story unfolded and how different Noah was from Lee. All in all, a 5 star read!

Ella excels in organization, making her an ideal project manager, but her life takes a turn when her secret live-in relationship with colleague Lee violates the company's no-relationships policy. The situation worsens as Lee sabotages a crucial contract bid and joins a rival firm, leaving Ella unemployed and her relationship in ruins.Forced to accept a project manager position at a construction company in Kent, Ella confronts challenges such as low-level sexism, a toxic boss, and the daunting "caravan of shit." Simultaneously, she grapples with her attraction to site foreman Noah. Having experienced the complications of workplace relationships, Ella is wary of repeating past mistakes.

Ella and Noah proved to be delightful characters in the story. Ella's remarkable self-imposed challenges were truly engaging. I admired how, despite working in a predominantly male environment, she asserted herself to earn the respect she rightly deserved, fostering wonderful friendships along the way. Noah's character was equally commendable, earning my respect for treating Ella as an equal. He provided her with an opportunity in an unfamiliar work environment and played a crucial role in boosting her confidence significantly. Overall it is a great holiday read

I had a good time reading this romance set on a building site. It did take me a while to get into the story, but I liked the main character Ella. I felt that the romance with Noah was a little lacking; I was more invested in the plot about the company and Ella’s struggles to prove herself. But it is still a fun, cute book!

Ella thought her life with Lee was perfect until he quit the job at the company they worked at without telling her. Everyone suspected their relationship, and as a result, she lost her job. Ella realizes he never cared about her, so she moves out and changes career paths. Working in the construction industry running a job site, something she has never done before, she learns how to create a new career for herself and finds love. It was a sweet romance.

Love at First Site starts off by following Ella and Lee. They both work for the same company and have been secretly dating for years due to their company's no dating coworkers policy. Lee goes behind Ella's back and does something that causes her to lose her job.

Ella ends up getting a job for a construction company, an industry she knows nothing about. This job is also several hours away from her current life. While she is working there, she meets Noah who ends up showing her the ropes of the construction industry and more.

This book was a ton of fun to read and I actually laughed out loud at times! I loved getting to know Ella and Noah throughout the story. I appreciated that both were strong characters in their own right. Their relationship was so sweet and such a stark contrast to the relationship Ella had with Lee. Watching Ella learn and understand the construction industry little by little was amazing to see as well.

I definitely recommend picking this book up if you're in the market for a quick romance with a strong female main character.

'Love At First Site' is a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, light-hearted read and I struggled to put this down. We get to know Ella as her life falls apart and follow her as she rebuilds to bigger and better things. This book is very entertaining and provided lots of funny moments. There are some emotional moments as well but overall this was a feel-good book that made me happy.
The characters are spot on as well, realistic, likeable (mostly) and easy to get to know.
I really enjoyed my time reading this.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy.

Is there anything better than a grumpy-sunshine rom-com trope? If that's your cup of tea, this book should be on your TBR list.

Ella and Noah were such fun characters to read. The challenges Ella set herself were amazing! I loved how even though she was working amongst men she made a point to get the respect she deserved and ended up building amazing friendships in doing so!⁣

Noah was also great and I have a lot of respect for him, he treated Ella as an equal and gave her a chance in an environment she wasn’t familiar with and helped build her confidence up so much.

Phoebe is a new author for me but I’ll definitely be looking out for more from her. I really enjoyed this. It was an easy read and the story line kept me up turning pages into the morning. Would definitely recommend to all I know.

I really enjoyed the underlying tone of humour which is written through the story. She is used to keeping her personal life separate from her working life but that leaves her open to being misled and betrayed. She always keeps your sympathy however and I found that I liked her in every context we met her. Her family care about her but you understood her impatience with the fuss that she encountered there. It is when Ella goes to her new job that the comedy really kicks in.

This is an entertaining read. I particularly enjoyed John's contribution. You soon realise that there is more to him than the grumpy builder he at first appears, with a blanket dislike of women working on building sites. With the slow burn romance with the personable Noah, this is a lovely way to spend a weekend's reading.

In short: witty and amusing writing

Who doesn't love to see a woman in STEM as a leading character, am I right? I mean, it's not that other roles are invalid, it's just nice to see the plethora of stories toting the message that's it's okay to be you, big brains and all!

Ella was a sweetheart, making her way through life, seemingly on the same page as her boyfriend, and ready for whatever came next...or so she thought. When he turns out to be a turd de jour, her life spins in unexpected directions, but these new opportunities, while different, will show her where her true talents lie AND she might just get a shot at a new happily ever after she never expected. I laughed, I waited on edge, I wanted to throttle a certain person who took advantage of out girl that wasn't the ex-boyfriend, and in the end, I had a good time! Again, with the positive messages of trying things different than we're use to, and applying ourselves in fields some wouldn't expect, so long as we have an interest, a desire, a goal; it's only ourselves we really answer to!

A great pick for Romcom fans and Women's Fiction readers alike, and great way to help close out your summer reading list!

As long as you reckon this isn't a romance per se (it's more chick-lit with a small serving of romance sprinkled in), then get on for the ride and enjoy this one. Loved how easy it was to fall into the prose and just read along - didn't feel like a slog at all. There's also a lot happening with Ella, and again, as long as you remember it's not a romance, then all the exposure to the intricacies of her life and especially the time with Lee don't feel like too much and we need to get on with it. It really builds the whole tale, and we see a lot of Ella in there in a way it wouldn't have been possible if the author had glossed over all that.
Loved to Ella coming into her own, especially on the building site (John turned out entirely adorable - never thought I'd say that when I met him), and then the whole subplot with Deborah had me hooked and I was dying to know what was going on there (the resolution to that one felt a little blipped over, but I can accept it had to happen that way).
Overall, an easy and enjoyable read perfect for time at the beach, the pool, or cozied up at home with a hot drink and a blanket

This was a very quick fast paced read centered around Ella, a project manager, and a whole slew of professional woes (and tons of shady ish happening around her) - definitely a women's fiction novel but I don't know that I would categorize this as a romance. I will say however, for everything that's been dumped on Ella, she wasn't even close to being insufferable. She rolled with it and was extremely realistic and that was quite frankly very refreshing!

We spend the first half (yes half) on her relationship with her coworker Lee, they'd been together for years but with a clause forbidding work place romances, they had to keep it under wraps until he pulls some corporate espionage type b.s. and she's made redundant because of it. Realizing that he has his best interest at heart rather than theirs she takes a job in another area in construction, an industry she knows nothing about.

Now the blurb made it seem like Noah would have a bigger part to play in this story, and I was definitely here for that part of the plot. But we don't even meet him til halfway through the book! It spends another 25% of them just being friends before finally one kiss at like 75/80% and, truly I think the book would have worked better with them just as friends. We don't really see any chemistry and if I hadn't have known better I would have expected the second half to be focused on her reconciling with Lee (which thankfully she did not, he was an ass!!) Overall Noah and Ella's friendship was very intentional and i loved that aspect. After her previous foray into a workplace romance she was guarded but the two had the best of coworkers in their corners to get them on track with the third act break/reconciliation. But the second half was sooooo rushed (plus the addition of another workplace sabatoge plot!) with how everything is buttoned up I wanted more of the romance aspect. All in all a cute one sitting read and we all know I love an English countryside setting 😊

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my review!

This novel was okay. The characters I couldn't connect with in this genre. I think I need something with more meaning as this felt very materialistic.
