Great thriller that keeps you guessing the whole way through. I loved all the twists and turns the author keeps throwing at the reader the whole way through the book.

A thought provoking and entertaining book, questioning friendship and the truth!
Four friends face death, suspicion and questions when they meet again after five years.
Frankie, Zara, Nadine and Geneva’s husband Elliott are all suspects, all hiding secrets and not entirely comfortable when an investigation reopens to determine who murdered Geneva.
The reader will hear opinions from five years ago to the present day, the suspense builds along with twists and turns, keeping you guessing right to the end. A very well written story, I appreciate the author’s skill and would like to read more.

Thanks so much to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A toxic friendship group and dark secrets that have been concealed for years erupt when three old friends are thrown back together. Frankie, Nadine, and Zara parted ways after the death of Geneva. Now Geneva's husband has been released after serving time for her murder and new crime YouTuber Juniper Rose is featuring a series explaining why she thinks he was innocent and pointing out more obvious suspects. This a fast-paced thriller. I did get the initial twist, but I was sideswiped by the next big twist and the chilling conclusion. This one kept my addicted from start to finish. #thesecretsweburied #beccaday #netgalley #emblabooks

I seem to gravitate towards settings in Britain. This book was full of drama and secrets. The only thing for me was the ending left me feeling disappointed.

Thank you Embla books for the ARC. I've enjoyed two of Becca Day books. I think she writes fantastic popcorn thrillers. This was an enticing premise. Finished on audio.

This was my first read of this author and I’d read more. Loved the start of this twisty tale but towards the end it seemed to tail off a bit which was a shame.

This was my first Becca Day book, but it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the style of this book and the ease of the authors writing, it grabbed my interest right from the first chapter.
Four close friends, Frankie, Zara, Nadine, and Geneva had it all. Lavish lifestyles living on Millionaires Row in Sandbanks. Until Geneva turns up murdered on the beach, and the gossip and lies start to unravel making the friends and the people around them question everything. The addition of podcaster Juniper Rose as she tries to solve the murder through her podcast. Juniper’s subscribers quickly climb as does the list of possible suspects as the whole town is invested in “ Who killed Geneva?”
Highly recommend!
Thank you to Embla Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Their friend was murdered and they know a lot more than they let on at the time but who actually killed her and why?

Five years after the murder of an actress living on Millionaire's Row, a seaside neighborhood in England, a true crime blogger decides to investigate the murder and find the killer. Of course, the husband is the prime suspect, but could one of the victim's best friends have killed her?

This is a story about murder, but it is also a story of how secrets can ruin relationships. It is the story of three friends and the secrets they are keeping. I just wanted to keep reading, because I wanted to know everyone's secrets. At one point, I'm thinking these three women aren't friends at all.

There are so many twists and turns, and the final twist is amazing. I did not see that coming at all!

I would put this in the psychological thriller category, so if you like that genre, you will love this book! I will definitely be looking for more books by Becca Day.

This book kept me on my toes from the first transcript. I loved the inclusion of the YouTube videos alongside the multiple POV’s of Frankie, Zara and Nadine as they navigate the loss of their friend who held a secret about everyone single one of them.

I didn’t see any of the secrets coming and the epilogue left me staring into space for a long time to recover from that twist.

I would recommend this book to any mystery and thriller lovers out there than enjoy the twisty plot and the ‘who done it’ vibe.

I honestly feel at loss now I have finished this book and Becca did such a good job of making you relate and empathise with the characters as they go on their journeys

Wow! Read this book in a day. I was totally captivated by this book, I just had to keep reading to find out what happened. 4 best friends loving on millionaires row. TV star Geneva O'connor was murdered 5 years ago, and although her husband Elliott was the prime suspect, no one has been charged with her murder. Cue youtube podcaster Juniper Rose who is going to get to the bottom of it and find Geneva's killer. What an absolute roller-coaster of a book. So many twists and turns. You think you've figured it out, then bam another twist. And as for the ending, didn't see that coming at all, although hopefully it paves the way for a follow up. Can't recommend this book highly enough. Will be keeping an eye out for more books by Becca.

Frankie, Zara, Nadine and Geneva are four friends who all live on the plush Millionaires Row in Sandbanks. When Geneva is found dead on the beach one morning, everyone quickly assumes it's her husband Elliott that's responsible, the police can find no evidence but with the public still treating him as a suspect he leaves town. Frankie also decides to leave to start a new life with her husband Mike and their children. Now, five years later, Frankie returns for the funeral of Zara's mum and they rekindle their friendship, but the return of Elliott also stirs up some memories for the friends. True crime YouTuber, Juniper Rose, who is trying to clear Elliott's name by looking into Geneva's death, brings suspicion upon all three of them, uncovering dark secrets that they've been trying to hide for the last five years, but where is she getting her info from, and who really murdered Geneva?

The Secrets We Buried is a gripping tale told from multiple perspectives across a dual timeline; the present day and five years earlier with the events leading up to the untimely death of Geneva, it starts off quite slow with the author building up a picture of each of the characters within the chapters and then the YouTube video transcripts entwined intermittently through the story. It's a dark and suspenseful tale with twists and secrets galore, keeping the reader guessing throughout as to who the real perpetrator is, everyone at some point had the finger pointed in their direction, well almost everyone, because the real twist came right at the end, I was not expecting that! A great read from a new to me author, whose work I look forward to reading more of in the future.

I'd like to thank Embla Books and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

A riveting thriller mystery, The Secrets We Buried by Becca Day (2023) is an engaging surprisingly twisty novel. Nadie, Zara, Frankie and Geneve enjoy regular wine catch-ups as wealthy friends living in Sandbanks, a coastal town in England. Five years after one of them was found dead on the beach the next morning, a young podcaster decides to investigate and solve the murder. A reunion of sorts at the funeral of Zara’s mother reunites the three former friends and brings back memories and the secrets they have covered up. As the broadcast becomes increasingly popular, the husband of the dead woman returns to the village. A taut domestic noir unfolds with mounting tension and surprising reveals that unsettle their friendship and question their past actions and culpability. With numerous twists and turns, crumbling lives with a pacy narrative and shocking finale make this a four stars read rating. With thanks to Embla Books and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own, freely given and without inducement.

Wow wow wow. I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but I powered through it in just a few hours. Who killed Geneva? Geneva was murdered five years ago and a podcaster is setting out to find out who did it. The husband has been the convinced culprit. Once all three women are back in the same town, things start happening. Secrets start coming to light and people turn on each other. There was a lot of good suspense in this book and turns I did not see coming. I am not happy with the ending, but that is just my option. Highly recommend this book!

I think the build up of this book was great, the characters were well developed and the plot flowed nicely.

The last four chapters weren’t it for me. Especially the last chapter and the Callie Janet/juniper twist. I feel like pulling Callie into the story wasn’t needed for the development. It just felt like a reach for me like trying g to draw upon the book “everyone here is lying” just too much for me
