Reading this novel by David Griffiths was like discovering a long lost manuscript by Graham Greene. Both authors explore the moral and political conflicts of the modern world.
This narrative is both international and intimate. Set during the months leading up to the new millennium it allows a young photographer to look through his lens and see political corruption in high places. He soon finds himself threatened both in Kenya and London but in searching for answers he finds other things including himself.
There are many layers to this story. It explores grief and loss, fractured familial relationships, the loneliness of sex without love, and exchanging anonymity for friendship. It is a literary triumph.
